Thread: Cant tame anything

So hear I am a new MCH. I head to endor and try to tame some mereks. First two attampts fail. then all of a sudden it says "I cant tame that". So i go to try a cowardly gurrek. same deal "you cant tame that".


WTH!!!. Im a MCH but i cant tame a cowardly gurreck? Can anyone please tell me what im doing wrong?

I am having the same problem now. First time I have experienced the 'Can't tame that' problem. I even went to corellia to try to tame a difficulty level 11 swamp gurrcat. I can tame up to 18. But All I get is 'Can't tame that'. No other explanation.


Irritiating because I was taming fine this morning but all of a sudden, things I could tame became untamable.


Yes, I have checked my datapad and I only have a couple of pets. Plus. . . you usually get a specific warning that you have too many pets and need to delete some. I also don't have any pets out. You also get a specific warning about that also. This is different in that it doesn't give you a reason you can't tame a pet.


Also yes. . . I have reported the bug twice now and expect to keep spamming SOE on this problem.

Probably a stupid question, but since you're new I have to ask...


You're trying to tame babies, right? You know, the creatures that have (baby) in their name? If not, you can't tame them.

Heh. . . I'm new only in that I have three boxes versus being a MCH


That's why my test was something I knew I could tame. . . a level 11 gurrcat, non-aggressive, and something I had when I first started out taming.


Really frustrating since I am only 40k away from a tier 2 box and am getting about 6k xp per tame with training. Looks like if this doesnt clear up soon, it will be the grueling, use your pet to fight and get creature handling xp the slow way routine.

Actually I am a old-timer MCH and had that problem trying to tame a Arachne Warrior (Baby) on Endor. It was only level 6 as a baby. This is the 2nd time I have not been able to tame that level. And I had my BE taming hat and outfit on, so I was over my level on taming skills. But, I did get that message "You can't tame that"


So, you are not alone. Any other MCH's have similar problems? True this isn't your standard non-aggressive pet. But, thats why I wanted it.

I also am a MCH and went last night to try and tame some creatures from Yavin and Endor. We tried Crystal Snake Babies and Gackle Bat Babies from Yavin to no avail, then we tried Handak babies and wolf boar babies from Endor also to no avail. This morning we tried Shauput Babies and even a regular little old Gnort Baby and recieved the "You can't tame this!" message.


Pretty sad not even being able to tame a creature who's full grown level is only going to be under 10 as a MCH I did bug this as well as doing a regular ticket on it but haven't heard from CSR on the ticket as of yet.

when you get this "you cant tame that" message does the creatures name go white? usually it will be yellow. I was hit by this bug when getting my 3 Female Narglatches but I noticed the color change so I stayed with the baby and sure enough at the end of the timer. I got the tame confirmation and she was in my pad.

You realize in a group running CL80 missions you will have over 100k xp in the same amount of time it would take you to tame and train one, maybe two creatures. Plus you can tame along the way and train them when you dont have a group handy.

I experienced this yesterday as well, it is a bug.


I was also hunting for Narglatches and the parent aggro'ed on me so the parent and 2 babies chased me around for a time.


I came back to re-attempt a tame and noticed that the cursor changed from the white utility cursor to the orange attack cursor.


I got the dreaded "you cannot tame this" BS error, my friend advised to log for a bit and he would stay with the babies.


I came back 5 mins later and the same issue happened, it wasn't just the Narglatches however, EVERy baby I tried to tame exhibited this message.


It seems during the taming phase, if the baby aggro'es you become bugged.


Just report it and either log for a while or possibly jump to another planet, I just got frustrated and logged after all the work to get the babies then lost them.





I miss my pets, my slobbering yet faithful protector named Cuddles the Rancor.

The SPCA said they won't sue for killing virtual animals...

Interesting. . . I went on a few hours after my post and the problem seemed to correct itself. I did try logging out after experiencing the problem and relogging back in but that didn't fix it. So, perhaps time resolves it.

Thats exactly what happened to me. Everything was working as normal up to the point were it aggroed me. after that i couldnt tame anything. This bug needs to be reported ASAP.
