Thread: Fastest mount?

Thanks for that info SioBabble. Are there any other mounts whose growth will be stunted by training as a mount? Brackasets maybe? They're huge!
The giant carrion spat seems to be the only one whose growth can be stunted at this time.

Yeah, I just did a test run, albeit slanted, between a full grown kaadu and a baby [1(18)] giant carrion spat and there wasn't all that much difference. It's looking like the kaadu might be better in water and the giant carrion spat might be better with terrain negotiation.
And now I'm curious about riding a savage humbaba.

All the other mount critters have mount gear artwork that fits on the skeletons at their fully grown size. The largest mount in the game is the savage humbaba; you can first train it as a mount at CL 6 a day or so after you've tamed the baby, and it will continue to grow and be a mount creature to its full adult size. Brackasets, too, at their full grown adult size will take a saddle.
The view from atopa savage humbabais spectacular, and they are much taller than the mountable brackasets (the surefoot brack does not spawn babies).
The giant carrion spat is the only critter that does NOT have mount gear artwork for its fully grown size; hence the need to stunt growth. It's also the only mount critter you can train as a mount immediately upon taming.
There was a bug right at the time of the mount publish which offered a "stunt growth" option for the ravenous torton of Rori, but there has never been any mount gear for that creature, and it's never been ridable at all.
I ended up pulling out my swoop bike because he was gaining so much of a lead on me that I just decided it would be better to get behind him and /follow him so the bike would match HIS speed.
Cu pa are NOT the fastest mount... and I still wanna slap the Dev who made them level 11 as nonBE creatures. Cu pas look like Taun Tauns to me. I seriously doubt the Rebellion used Bio-Engineered Cu pas. And NO one is gonna be able to convince me that Han Solo was a damn Creature Handler. I won't buy Luke Skywalker as a CH either.
Wild Cu pas should be level 10... and prolly a little faster on their feet. I use mine... more for look and because I don't run past lairs when they are spawning when I'm looking for hide or babies to tame.
I heard that despite the shorter gallop times, the spats/kaadus still outpace the humbabas/falumpsets/brackasets over time (i.e. if you time from the beginning of both mounts' galloping period and stop timing at the end of the humbabas' gallop). Just what I heard.

Savage humbabas, like the bracks and falumps, are the slowest mounts in the game. They do have one advantage, though: they've got the longest /gallop periods of any of the creatures. The spats and kaadus have fast gallops for short times, the dews and bols fall in the middle, and the falumps and bracks (and humbabas) have long but not that much faster than normal gallop times.
So, for getting out of a bad situation with a mount, you want a kaadu or spat. They've got what amounts to superburstrun.
For long trips across flat terrain and you want to pick up some speed over the entire trip, the falump/brack/humbabas are the best bet.
I've got one of each of the mount types (a dewback, a savage humbaba, and a giant carrion spat) plus one of the two "new" mounts, a wasteland cu pa. The speed differences are not nearly as important as they once were, because vehicles are faster across the board than mounts, so it's mostly a matter of which mounts you find the most attractive to you personally.
