just remember the AOE exploit(yeah right) works the opposite way as well... The NPC's can and do use it against you !

Which may be the real reason the CSRs were cracking down on it. Once the exploiters leave, they leave behind a situation where the bug manifests itself and everyone left behind tends to go down fast.

I dont know about spawn times adjustments, heh, they are pretty much non stop unless something was done with the last day or so.

Easiest way I found of getting around the AoE users* is to just message them. Tell them you're there for CH and all you need is to get one hit with the pet. No looting, no combat/weapon xp, just CH. Most could care less about the small amount of damage the pet does. If you have other benefits offer those as well, i.e I also have Master Doc so cures/heals/rezes were in the mix too.

*I refuse to through names such as "exploiter" at the AoE users. The "exploit" that the devs have explained in relation to the AoE bug is when it is used IN CONJUNCTION with an insta-spawn. While the Geno caves originally had this problem, the spawn times were adjusted. You will not be punished for using AoE attacks against mission lairs, normally-timed random spawns, or when clearing out a cave.

I hesitate to accuse people of exploiting, but the use of AoEs in the geonosian cave can still be an exploit. I confirmed this with a CSR about an hour ago. I see you are on Starsider, unfortunately my main is on Ahazi. I recently created a character on Starsider, and reading your boards I can believe you have courteous people willing to let CHs get their xp. There are nice people on Ahazi too, but they are not the ones in the Geonosian cave right now

ATM i have no AOE attacks becuase i drop proffession and take them up again faster than a camera man at a janet jackson unvailing.

But if i did have a AOE attack why shouldnt i use it?

In this game you have to use all moves to their best advantage if poeple have found this to be their advantage then they should use it, been the caves many times and sure sometimes its frustrating but it's their right to use skills they have earned!

I never exploited with this. I did it fair and square....and now I am a Master CH! But what profession has an AOE attack?

Most, if not all, fighting class has an AoE attack. Carbineers, rifleman, commandos, etc. I have a question though....why do you have to get permission from another player to sick your pet on a Genoshian? Does a Genoshian have a name on it that says "I am the target for this guy only..."? I think everyone has the right to target anything (except maybe player's destroy missions).

Pistoleers best shot, Fanshot, is AOE. Pistoleers have enough styles that are still gimped and now the lame CSR's want to tell us not to use our best remaining style?Screw 'em.

Well, you can target all you want, but in the time it takes you to target a geonosian, it's already taken 5 shots and 20k in damage from someone exploiting an AoE attack. I use an attack macro with my pet and the geonosians fall before I can even hit the key sometimes, let alone have my pet get there and get an attack off.I've even tried using my pet with a ranged attack and Ican't get a hit in! I think what is being suggested here is that the AoE guys hold off until the pets get a chance to get a hit in, then take out the target.

Note that using an AoE in the caves is not an exploit, as long as the bug hasn't manifested itself, but once it has, if you continue to use them and take advantage of the ability to get off multiple shots on a single target in less than a second, then it is an exploit and you could be warned. Chances are you won't be caught unless a lot of people report you, because the CSRs can't check the cave all the time, but I do know at least one person who was warned.

For those who want to use their AoE attacks without triggering the bug, here's a piece of advice: loot your kills. Regular looting helps prevent the bug. It's the people who just stay in the other room and never stop to loot that cause all the grief.

I'd also like to say, that even with all the problems, the caves are still the fastest way to get CH xp, just don't take anything you don't mind getting damaged, including the pet you use, because the both of you will die eventually in there.

As an update on what kind of XP is possible in there, here's what I've gotten from some of the pets I've been using (this is for Geonosians):

level 20 mountain dewback: 1100

level 22 female razor cat: 1060

level 27 BE razor cat:960

level 32 plains walker picket: 860

level 40 BE vir vur: 700

All of these pets gained less xp before they reached full growth, generally over 200 less.
