Thread: Baby Rarity vs. Baby Variety?

Vert, this is all well and good.

However, until the devs fix the things they broke in publish 6, this is all just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Furthermore, offering more pets to be tamable below CL 70 still doesn't solve the problem that tamedwild creaturesare now hopelessly inferior to BE creatures in combat, on a CL per CL basis. I don't mind that BEs can make better creatures than can be found in the wild, but it does bother me that the better BE crearues have LOWER CLs than their counterparts in the wild.

It's about time we started some "aggresive negotiations" with TH and the devs over the profession crippling bugs that they introduced in publish 6, and that they actually follow through on "balance" in the world of creature pets in regards to the overpowering superiority of BE creations. The most thoughtful people in the BE community know this is a problem, too.

I refuse to be distracted by the shiny things the devs continue to wave before our eyes to draw our attention away from autostoring carrion spats, CL 10 with 6000 Health BE creations, broken special and ranged commands, and the pet pathing problems that have plagued this game since beta. More and more players are jumping on the stop throwing more thin gruel "content" at us and fix the bugs in the game bandwagon. I believe CH, as the most savagely nerfed profession in this game, needs to be among the leaders in this effort to get this thing fixed before more chrome plating renders it a pretty, unplayable mess.

I agree with Tivo, I think the baby bull rancor is not rare it's extinct. On kauri I am approaching 250 lairs of bull rancors and not one baby. That's a lot of disease I have rode out in order to find one and it isn't happenning.

Lastly, a tamed pet should be "EXACTLY" the same as one in the wild not it's nerfed baby sister. And if you go for taming any creature under CL70 for everyone then you have probably done in the only reason some of us are wookies. Good grief there has to be some benefit to taking a wookie character. Why did i become a wookie, to tame creatures and the idea of pulling arms of people in PVP. Right now there is nothing left I want to tame that spawns, (baby bull rancor, mantigrue screecher) and Wookies suck in PVP.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

1. yes, everything under cl70.

2. yes, but as very rare creatures.

3. No, faction rewards maybe, but not tamable.

4. most things under 50 should be tamable

(1) We want more of the powerful creatures like king merek, barkmite burrower queen, kliknik queen, etc to be tameable as rares agree!

(2) We want Boss creatures (wonderous cu pa, diseased vrelt matriarch, gronda juggernaut, vehement warrior, etc) to be tameable as rares. Some are powerful, some are not so powerful. Agree and add the monstrous brute (bull rancor boss creature only 12K ham but for size alone would be cool) and again I want to see the Nerf animal added and I will name it Dev

(3)We want creatures associated with NPC factions (Gungan kaadu, domesticated tusk cat, Nym's kusak guardian, Tusken bantha, etc) to be tameable as rares. Don't really care but don't disagree.

(4)Ideally we want every creature under CL 50 to be tameable with varying degrees of rarity. At the least, however, we'd like creatures under CL 50 that are never tameable to be the exception rather than the rule (currently not the case). agree

(5) We are relatively happy with the current frequency of baby spawnsfor creatures that are rares (mantigrue screecher, great plains stalker, bull rancor, etc). While hunting for a baby rare can be frustrating, the sense of reward from achieving success outweighs the frustration. agree,

Vert a few other things. BUGS!!! can we get them fixed? the camp calling restrictions will be gone but it is still frustrationg to have a creature Poof in the middle of combat.

Armor? We really need to get some PvP usefullness back, what about Vit loss in PvP will that be gone with patch 7 or do we still wait?

Thanks.

I agree with most of what people have said. Bring back all the extincts, there is no reson to keep 'em out of the game, not every one here was a MCH in July. There are things id like to see changed, particulary #5

Rare is good, but ridiculously rare is frustrating and a huge turn off. Of course we all know the fun the Bull Rancor is.. 2 months now, and 163 lairs and i have never seen one. Wild nest, missions...nothing. Honestly the only reason why this is a great pet is, the plague strike and the higher resist. Witch in my opinion should represent what a normal rancorSHOULD be resist wise. The others such as the screecher, widow, plains stalker are good pets. But lets face it, as of now there rares (Bull, screecher, widow, border line Merek Death head) are the only wild pets that are worth getting at MCH. Any thing under those and you might as well go see your local MBE. Lets also consider the fact that you spend so much time looking for these that once you have them , your not exactly gonna use them in PVP or even PVE. The way i see it, its like you spend all your time saving up for a collector edition car, or exotic car, i dont think you'll go street racing with it at the local cruise. You will probably just show it off, and dust it when you get home.

#1. Fix the spawning rate, and unspawning....nothing like being in the middle of taming a Death Headand seeing despawn!!!! Give us some numbers like chance of a bull baby. (1/60) lairs. Something a MCh can be proud of, and be willing to use for fun. randown spawn like the Great plains stakler should be more comon, its not like there uber pets, and have lairs. You have to comb great areas just to see 1 now. 2 months and no sigh for me with a master ranger.

#2. Be imaginative! Example an arachne widow should be black and red, not just a different name.

There are many books on Star War creatures, open up a page, model the animal, and pick a planet for it in game, and introduce it. The best example , is the Acklay in the genosian lab. Looks great. Could be taller like in the movie, but hey wouldnt any MCH want one of those bad boys?

#3. Give us a way to keep all are animals, drop in house, bank, or the best the datapad. We all have what i think is 3 kinds of animals. The rares, the fun ones and sentimentals, and the battle ones. The datapad can hold 100 things, just let us use it the way we want. Either wp or pets or droids.

In conclusion I sincerely hope that this could come to be at least the spawn rates and the bugs. Ive been MCH since September 2003 and plan on staying MCH until the end. This was a great profession, now bring us back from the dead and make us the true force of nature we are

Vert gonna add another one that I am probably gonna get flamed for but why not.

Let us drop pets in our houses or bank.

Just like any profession can carry weapons on them and leave other at home let us do that.

If it means reduceing the #of pets In my data pad so be it. of my 22 pets I use 4-5 and the rest are there for the coolness factor.

Droid Eng can make data terminals, let them make a special pet terminal to be placed in a structure to hold our pets. Look see I even created a interdependancey that the devs so love.

1) agree

2) agree

3) disagree - don't see a reason to a a dup pet

4) agree

one thought tho - if we had a rare list of creatures and we had ch mission to find and tame these pets ( not just buy them) . we should get some kind of uber - pet that would work in PvP. any thoughts on this?

To make this clearer for you Vert...heres what we want:

1. All creatures CL 70 and under should spawn babies (most important)

2. CH missions (not as important but I have thought this has been a good idea for a long time)

3. Petting zoo deed (will take up a few lots and require maintenance)

4. Spawn rate of all wild animals needs fixed on some planets (especially Dantooine, I can walk from side to side top to bottom and not find a single wild spawn)

the baby rarity issue is simple: players who have found their bull rancor or GPS say they should stay impossibly rare and players who havent say they are far too rare. i for one think the bull rancor is just a bit too rare for the fact that only one master CH has one on Lowca

I've been starting up some discussions with TH regarding our requests for increased baby variety/rarity. To help me better represent our wishes, I thought it might be productive to start a discussion here.

Looking at the tameable vs. non-tameable thread from over the weekend, it's pretty apparent that many creatures do not have babies that one would expect to. Some of these are powerful, and some are not so powerful (but still possibly "cool"). From reading the forum these past months, here are the impressions I've been operating under:

(1) We want more of the powerful creatures like king merek, barkmite burrower queen, kliknik queen, etc to be tameable as rares

(2) We want Boss creatures (wonderous cu pa, diseased vrelt matriarch, gronda juggernaut, vehement warrior, etc) to be tameable as rares. Some are powerful, some are not so powerful.

(3)We want creatures associated with NPC factions (Gungan kaadu, domesticated tusk cat, Nym's kusak guardian, Tusken bantha, etc) to be tameable as rares.

(4)Ideally we want every creature under CL 50 to be tameable with varying degrees of rarity. At the least, however, we'd like creatures under CL 50 that are never tameable to be the exception rather than the rule (currently not the case).

(5) We are relatively happy with the current frequency of baby spawnsfor creatures that are rares (mantigrue screecher, great plains stalker, bull rancor, etc). While hunting for a baby rare can be frustrating, the sense of reward from achieving success outweighs the frustration.

Do those five points make sense and seem like something we can agree with? Particularly the last one, since it's difficult to get a sense of where the balance point between "not rare enough to be rewarding" and "so rare it's infuriating" lies.

If this is an accurate picture of where we stand, then I'll push hard for these five points with regard to rarity (bugfixes, etc of course being something I'm pushing for separately). If something looks crazy or needs to be added/removed, then please let me know.

This one has me a bit baffled, is there any real reason to push for these since in many cases they are almost identical to pets we already can tame?

(1) Agreed
(2) Agreed
(3) Disagree - why tame pets that have already been "tamed", if you see what I mean.
(4) Agreed - in part. Would seem pointless to have tameable Boar wolf cubs or Arachne Hatchlings, since these are, by deafult, juvenile animals anyway. Would make more sense to have these animals as part of the spawns from regular Boar wolf or Arachne warrior lairs.
(5) Agreed.

Good question there. From what I can see, the main benefit would be the "coolness factor" and "roleplay factor" of having a pet with the same name and stats as the NPCs. For example, someone who wants to roleplay a Tusken Raider would be able to have a bantha that displays as "a Tusken bantha" in the examine window, and has the same stats players are familiar with from fighting Tusken NPCs.

In addition, this issomething else to add to the "blue speckle-throated guf drolg" collectibility factor I've seen people ask for.

Kind of minor points, and obviously not as important as continuing to work on auto-storing and thepathing problems. But as long as we're asking them to poke around the "Tameable: Yes/No" section of the database, it seemed like something nice to add.

so long as they fix pets not benefiting from the 20 percent damage reduction in PVP just about anything is fine. That's whats killing me right now, but at least as a Master Rifleman/Master CH I still am useful.
