I am currently 1 2 1 2 CH after 3 weeks of casual playing. In the same time, I have moved to 4 3 3 3 in Rifleman. I prefer taming/training to using pets in combat for XP. It is easy enough to find babies. While quenker grinding on Dant, I came across 1-2 babies in every lair. It does become tedious though and you are right about the hands hurting. Life would be so much easier if the devs actually implemented the ability to macro pet training. Saves us from having to work with that darn radial menu.

it makes no sense. people complain about the speed in which xp is gained... you show them a much faster way and they say they like the slower way better.... /shakehead

If you are at 4/3/3/3 rifleman you can pretty much take on a crap load of stuff by yourself. I am only at 2/2/3/1 rifleman and I can gain a ton of CH xp. You simply have to bring them out hunting with you, work down your target and send them in when you have 2-3 shots left... get yourself a good kinetic resist pet and they wont even take much damage. All you have to do is let them get one hit in on the target and you get CH xp for it.

a year in Iraq: Sucks bad
coming back to SWG to find things have come full swing and your profession is useful again: AWESOME!

I just made master Sat. night, took my time at it about 3 or 4 weeks. I use my pets when my guild goes on a hunt and get xp that way, also use them as tanks to help our new member earn xp for the combat class they are working on. By myself I use a pet as a tank then take down the mob as they are attacking my pet. But I made sure I had fun doing it, just grinding sucks because that's all your thinking about.

I mastered CH in just under 2 weeks from a new char. Am i to understand that the person who started this thread is doing it for a holo? Some professions do take longer, scout can be done in 1 day and many others in a few days but not all r that simple. Deal with this fact and just grind. If u have not done so already, and end up grinding BH, you'll be in for a shock-yes it takes more than a day,lol

Any profession can be mind numbing. Making 5 million Advanced BECs to master Doctor and CM was boring. The one bad part of the holo grind is that people are mastering professions that they don't have any interest in. If you found a strong group to run thru some of the POIs with *geo lab, tusken* it wouldn't be too bad. Remember your pet doesn't have to kill anything to get xp....just do atleast 1 damage to it

Well I had an interest in this profession and I've never been a grinder. I've never rushed to do leveling in any game, it comes when it comes. The problem I have and the reason that after 3 weeks I'm giving it up is that there is no point or purpose. This profession is really just a hobby. The pets add nothing because if I ride my cupa I'm either faster than my friends on foot or slower than them in vehicles. When we are out fighting creatures I'm either having to spend precious combat cycles managinga pet or leavethem stored. Then I have to ask my friends to stop for a few minutes when I see a baby to tame.

It's sad as I was expecting this to be a really fun skill. It is fun but its a loner's skill and a hobby. Ranger/Rifleman will let me go against bigger mobs without buffing to the hilt, something I just don'tlike because it takes the risk and excitement away. The other professionsallow me to gather enough resources to actually make some credits also, important since I don't do buffs very often and take wear and tear on equipment from deaths when I overcommit.

Creature Handling needs help and looking at the dev plans it doesn't look like it is going to get any. The virtual pet aspect is a lot of fun but with character points being so limited it isn't worth the cost.

It sure isn't. Pets are really just a pain in the neck now. I quit calling mine because they just get in the way...even on rancor hunts.

I just can't afford to keep healing them. I'm a better tank with a pike then they are.

Of course I'm going to delete so it's irrelevant.

i think this is fun im 2/2/2/3 and i love it but i still think they should have it where the more dam ur pet does in a fight the more xp u get not ok 1 hit in and u get the max u can get in that one fight >_<

and they should make it as to there the naturals get special bounes like they grow faster or gain lost vatality over time as where the be pets dont gain vatality and they lose it a 3points a cap insted of 2 and they grow slower or something

or the naturals should have better defences

Use low level pets in a group where players can tank for you, or even you tanking for your pet. Worked well for me.

I'm at 2314 and i love it. I've only been at it for maybe 10-14 days. I'm new to the game and haveing dabbled with a few characters and different professions i ended up pushing for CH. Glad i did. I'm not very intensei play because its fun. I hope to keep it that way, i know too many ppl that are hell bent on mastering prof after prof. I do understand thier drive but i couldn't do it. Work can take me away from home for 3 months at a time. Homw for three of four days and then gone for another three months. Hard to power through profession when you have to deal with a break like that. And thats fine with me i like just going through at my own pace. I almost learn something every day that will make things easier later on. Wow alot of rambling just to say I enjoy that CH won't take me a few days to master. After all getting there is almost all the fun.

I've heard of some creative ways to level this profession.....mind you I have yet to try..so in my book, they are just ideas

- get a level 10 BE enhanced gnort and go hunting Rancors on Dath with a master elite TKA/sword..exp is 1000/per I hear (and all u need to do it tap the rancor)

- go to a cave/fort/bunker that is being actively hunted and repeat ...just tap ea mob with an attack and you'll get xp. (The mob has to die to get the XP)

- buy from a BE 1200 pets ...and call them one by one ..train them ..get the XP and delete. Think thats also about 1000/per once u can teach all the commands

....now for those reading this...that last one is just too funny..is that possible?...1200 gnorts?..if thats the case, using a macro to train u could master CH in a day????

There is know way that it is too hard to grind ch. I'm at 4-4-4-4 in < 2 weeks. It was interesting as well. I copied the creature list from the web site, and started. I tried to tame every creature on the list and also walked to all my POI's. Raise money for training by doing creature lair(tame those too). When I had 1/10 the exp, I switched planets. Did the easy planets first. I never made it to Endor before I hit 4-4-4-4, just had too much fun trying to find all the non-rare animals to tame. I even managed to find a new creature onRorito add to the web site. The only time I reallybattled my way to exp was early on when I had little skills to train, and while raising training money. I also managed to get ranger 4-2-4-4 while doing this stuff. I have heard that if you group with parties doing high lvl missions, and get some 20ish lvl be pets(one lick) you can do it even faster than I did. My goal was to tame through it, 10 planets in 10 days. I think you just have to forget about the "grind" and find a way to make it interesting.By the way, there is not one planet where I manage to find every creature before I hit my 1/10th and had to go to a new planet.
