Having done a fair ammount of testing myself, I'll provide all the info I've gathered, i think it will anwser your question.
As of Now on TC-EP3 ALL wild creatures (even after the've been tamed) have no resists and no specials. Also once you tame them they have no HAM bars at all, and from what I can see are invulnrable.
This pretty much has to be an area they have yet to fix, and will change soon.
When they moved Chilly to TC-3 I logged in and checked out my pets (for the VERY short time it was up)
All of the pets i had tamed still had no resists and no specials.
HOWEVER the BE pets retained their resits and specials.
Also, the BE pets that contained light armor when called said that they contained ileagle atrabutes and needed to be ballenced.
I was given 2 options:
a) balence the stats of the pet (IE change the stats in line with it's current level)
2) balence the level of the pet (IE bring the level up to be in line with the current stats)
Choosing option 2 always resulted in a level 125+ pet that could not be called and retained it's origional stats and armor.
Choosing option a resulted in the aromor being removed and the ststs of the pets being put in line with the CU.
While using option a did lower the HAM of my gurcat, It's resists went up signifigantly. When i ballenced my level 45 Kimo It actually gained HAM as well as having improved resists.
indacating that the species of the pet does in fact play into it's sats and abilites.
Meaning that pets will still be unique, if not more uniquw after the CU.
The current generic pets are just a result of that part of the game not having been worked on yet.
I'm sory that was so long, but i hope it helps clear things up and ease peoples fears some.
much love, thanks.

Anything with Light armour greates a pet that is CL 152 and can not be called.
Pets are invulnerable (also guys for AT-ST's!!!).
Creature tamed pets seem to be better then BE'd bets again (all the orignal CH's will remember this from the begining).
All pets hit for a constant amount so using a skill like Armour break does nothing.
Mounts dont slow down during gallop when being hit (not sure when this came in).
And Gallop seems to last a lot longer.
My Cu Pa did do ranged attacks but I cant teach him how, it seems to be default when he is to far away.

You shouldn't have any planet specific imbalances. The planet you choose should be a comparison of your Combat Level and the Creature/NPCs level. As it is on live, Corellia, Naboo andTatooine are great spots for newer players. Talus and Rori are great mid level spots and the rest of the planets will be more of a mixed bag from medium to high levels.
If you can, please letus know what your solo results are. There have been quite a few solid comments on soloists not being able to engage white cons and we would like to balance them a little better for solo play.
We also need the groups and white con feedback, but so far that seems to be closer to the target challenge/risk factor than solo play.

What annoys me most as a CH, is when people treat me as if im " at their service "
i get tells saying "tame me a pet " " teach me pet" " make my pet into a mount " and when i tell them i dont have the skill to teach mount, they'd say " o, well gimme a tell when you can "
dunno bout you guys but stuff like this gets on my ever living nerves. i could help solve this by not wearing novice CH tag, but im proud to be one of the few people that can stand this proffesion anymore lol despite all thats happening to it.
We're a pretty cool group if u ask me( as long as you get us on our good side )
I've seen Creature Handlers cry on here so many times to be able to provide a service to the masses. But then they get mad when they get treated like a "service" profession.
If you guys want the ability to be able to tame and train creatures to provide to other players, then you need to get used to other players treating you like you are at their service. You don't see me complaining when I get a tell from someone asking if I can make a certain droid...
Yesterday i tamed -
2x Delerious Merek Avengers (44)
1x Merek Assasin (33)
1x Mantigrue screecher (55) WOOT
1x Crazed Gurreck (I want a kitteh
1x Ancient Reptilian Flier (22)
1x Craggy Bolma (48)
up too now I have not had the option to train any special moves with any of my pets.

I have done some testing on TC. Tested out all different aspects of CH over the day, seems like the only usefull abilitiy CH now gets is the 'Enrage Pets' ability.

Funny how all of these pets are from the planets the devs have said are not balanced yet. The list of balanced plants is on the loading screen for petes sake! And what more is they have only done critters CL 15-50.

Well, I think that most creature handlers, granted not all, but most have some form of combat to go along with our pets. I am one of those. It can get somewhat annoying when I doing some combat stuff to start getting tells about training a pet.
We are not like a Droid Engineer, we differ from there in several aspects. Look at where our skills come from, the scout tree. What is in the scout tree? trapping, hunting, camping, movement in the wilds. Where do DE's get their skills from? artisan. Artisans make stuff. I know quite a few CH's that spend the vast majority of their time in the wilds and rarely go to the cities except to heal and travel. Where do DE's spend the vast majority of their time? the cities.
While I have a great deal of respect for the DE community, and would like to try it out on another server, there is not much to really compare us to them.
We are not really much of a 'service' profession. If I wanted to be a service profession, I would have gone DE.
