Summary

Points from my posts:

  • Leet speak is childish (in my opinion).

  • Macros are not hard to make (in my opinion).

  • Logical deduction: Writing a macro doesn't make you special, uber, elite or superior (in my opinion).

  • Even though I've written applications a thousand times more complex than a simple macro, I don't get a big head about it, because I don't rely on others to make me feel better about myself, nor do I care what others think.

  • I post my opinions because I like to speak my mind. I don't care if anyone agrees with me or not. Forums are for posting points of view, which is exactly what I did.

What we've taken away from this conversation:

  • People have their ownopinions on 'leet' speak and the difficulty of writing macros.

  • Noonecares or they would've replied to our posts by now.

  • The conversation has to end because there is no resolution, just further arguing.

I will only post in this thread again if it's to help others with macros.

Hey! That's the best macro I've seen yet! I love it.

I agree, but there are just some things that macros make easier. Like looting items from corpses, keeping specials (like Center of Being) constantly on, keeping your pet in line, specials, attack combos... just to name a handful.

(addendum...)

Take taming a pet for instance. Most of the time you want to /peace the creature you're taming. I like to follow my target to ensure I stay within range. Grouping /follow, /peace and /tame commands into one key press just makes sense.

How hard is it to loot an item from a corpse by targeting it, bringing up the radial menu, and selecting "Loot All"?

How hard is it to set up a hotkey for a follow command for your pet? You already have a hotkey for "tame", just load it in your hotbar.

I'm sorry, in my 2 years playing this game, I have never once used a macro, so I fail to see the neccesity of one.

Tame macro.

In this situation, you press one key instead of three. Select a target and press the button.

/peace;

/follow;

/tame;

Instead of having to do all three before taming a pet. You will definitely need follow, unless you follow manually. /peace ensures you don't attack thecreature if they attack you, which allows you to run away from thecreature until they give up and turn back, then you repeat the taming process.

Another one I use is a Center of Being macro (for TK), which restarts Center of Being every 32 seconds. It works great and keeps you from getting hit. It's reduced my BF greatly and I can go fora couple hours of killing constantlyand only have around100 BF.

I also have loot macros for gathering hide and other resources. Simply click on the target and it's looted, instead of having to use the radial menu every time, which can be tedious.

Those are just a few examples of how macros can make your gaming life easier. Menial tasks can be combined. Combat skills can be combined or applied to get the maximum effect.
