Recently someone posted a link to an older thread with a grinding macro. I tried that macro, but no matter how I tweaked it the main problem was that the pet's health always dwindled down to nothing and it eventually died. I am a Teras Kasi, so my attacks require me to be within range. If you've got a ranged attack this would work much better. But basically it goes like this:

NOTE: Only the lines beginning with/ should be in the macro.

(select nearest target)

/ui action cycleTargetOutward;

(tell pet to attack)

/tellpet attack;

(pause to allow pet to damage target)

/pause 15;

(call pet back to you so target is within range)

/tellpet follow;

(pause again waiting for pet's return)

/pause 12;

(attack target using your currently equipped weapon)

/attack;

(pause again for 5 seconds, long enough to kill target)

/pause 5;

(heal pet)

/tenddamage;

...or...

(use slot x on toolbar, which could point to a pet stim or other heal ability)

/ui action toolbarSlotx;

(restart this macro)

/macro mymacroname;

You may have to tweak this macro to your own character.

Here's another one I use quite effectively for low-end mobs outside of towns (especially thugs). This one is used if you're watching and selecting the targets manually. Place this macro ona key and you simply select the target, press the toolbar key for the macro... and the target dies. If you are non-melee you could eliminate the /follow command. This particular one sends the pet in, lets them get a start on attacking, then my character runs to the target and finishes it off.

/tellpet attack;

/pause 1;

/attack;

/follow;

...and you can optionally heal the pet afterward...

/pause 10;

/tenddamage;

I've found that while an AFK macro works for a short while, it tends to not be a long-term solution to grinding. You will have to be attentive. Also, I've found that you can go to Endor (if you're TK and can kill quickly) and get huge XP using alow-end pet. The key is to realize your pet WILL die and that keeping its health at max is not going to happen on a planet like Endor. All you have to do is ensure the pet is alive when you kill the target. Here's how I do it:

Set your pet to guard you. Attack a target. Make sure your pet hits it. Ensure your pet is alive just before you kill the target. Gravy XP will ensue. Be sure to kill one target at a time and let your pet hit it. One thing I always do as TK is attack the target, knock it down and then beat the crap out of it before it can hit my pet.

You will get mobbed by most anything on Endor, so that means your pet will die frequently. Just keep healing the pet enough to keep it alive (/tenddamage works nicely for this) and you will do fine. You can get anywhere from 200-600+XP per kill on Endor using a low-level pet. For instance, I'm using a desert gurreck stalker. While he has a tendency to roam a lot (because of his aggressive skin) he is fast and easy to use to gain XP. Blurrgs and Mantrigue Reapers give 637 XP per kill. Try to get that from taming/training or killing low-end mobs. It's just faster.

Hope this helps.

I don't support AFK-macro'ing to grind through a profession.

If you want to progress, then play the game. I know, it's an outrageous concept... but with a little bit of practice, you'll get used to actually having to be in front of your monitor to play the game.

/agreed, since i've been using special attack macro's in PvP, things have become much simpler and I have more time to land knockdowns

While I acknowledge your macro inspired mine (pretty much the same), there's nothing "Leet" about writing a macro. There's no obscure or secret knowledge that one must acquire, no high status one achieves.

I agree that the use of macros for AFK grinding is a bad thing, but I also know that once I've grinded through a profession once I don't want to have to do it again on a different server, so I use macros to make life easier. I've yet to find a macro that allows full AFK grinding. I just don't think it's possible to get good CH XP while AFKunless the pet takes little damage from the mobs you're fighting, but if that's the case you're not getting much CH XP at all. Also, where would the current game be without AFK entertainers that can buff your mind pool? And like the above post states, there are so many good things you can use macros for (non-AFK things).

It's a mixed bag, but macros make SWG life easier.

until i wrote it, almost no one used them. I am a first person shooter player not a mmorpg player, therefore i use the word leet from time to time. I took this broken profession and made it useful again for myself and decided to share with the rest of the community, and it helps.

So no, there is nothing leet about writing a macro, howeveran idea that makes the profssions more useful is extremely 1337. I have tweaked them for a very long time and you yourself said "While I acknowledge your macro inspired mine" so..

Why the need to knock something down that is a good thing, because I used the word leet?

Thanks,

Also, instead of /tenddamage to heal your pet folks, use /healpet to use ONLY pet stims. You can also use tenddamage and healpet in one hotkey to use both pet stims and regular stims at the same time.

Why the knock? Because the whole "leet" thing is childish. I'm a FPS veteran myself. In fact, I was playing them way before the leet-speak was adopted as something "cool" to use. It's all moot and stupid. I've been programming in various languages and script languagessince the mid-80's, before most people even owned a computer. I guess that makes me old school, uber and leet at the same time. But I digress...

As for the macro... Yes, I could've used pet stims and stim packs as well. I did not, because my Medic /tenddamage skill worked fine for me. That's the beauty of any scripting language, that people can make their own versions and adjustments. Although this really isn't a language, but a command queue (aka a macro). It's hardly rocket science. So, please don't be offended if I don't bask in your presence.

See, i knew that was what you were upset about. You are upset that I used the word leet. Making your post a flame. I bet you either have or want an ipod too. And you SHOULD bask in my prescence btw. I am being very nice right now and am probably not the person to get in a flame war with.

Done with this post and your inferior macros.

Thanks,

Heres the one I used when i had to step out for some air. - This macro will get you CH Xp & Scout Xp but you will need a harvester droid to get the scout Xp. dont add the red text I also put this in the fourth slot from the left on the top row of the tool bar

/target self;

/pause 1;

/ui action cycleTargetOutward; "Targets a critter"

/tellpet attack; "or whatever word you trained them"

/pause 5; "gives time for pet to get a hit in"

/attack; "helps pet kill target - as long as the pet gets 1 hit in you get all the xp"

/pause 5; "average time it took me to kill the target"

/tellpet harvest; "tells the harvester droid to go harvest the meat or hide, bone from the kill"

/pause 5;

/ui action toolbarSlot03;

I couldn't care less what you think of the macro examples I posted. I'm not out for recognition assuperior or 'leet'. I'm trying to helpfellow CH'sby giving them examples of macros they could adapt to their own liking. Speaking of which, back to helping others.
