Question: My pet is diseased/bleeding/poisoned, how do i cure this?
Answer: Just store the pet back in your datapad and call him back out. The disease/bleeding/poison should be gone.
Also let it be known that storing the pet will only cease the disease/bleed/poison. In order to heal the pets health or action bar, feed it (if you have the forage scout ability then use that). To heal the pets mind, it needs to know atleast one trick command. Do the trick a few times depending how severe the mind wounds are.

Jerguar, that was under the old pre-patch system. Taming levels are a lot more fluid now.
So, there's no guide now as to what creatures are available at what point?
Q: I know my +max pet level but how do I known what CL creatures are?
A: As a Master Scout you can see the CL on all creatures. An alternative is to visit one of the many beasiaries available on the web. My personal favorite is www.swgcreatures.com.
Q: My special attack and ranged attack command doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
A: The ranged attack command does not work. The special attack commands do work, but only if your pet is not in combat. The following macro is a work around:
/tellpet follow (Either follow target or follow you; Stay command also)
/pause 0.1 (Ensures other commands do not activate first)
/tellpet special1 (Tell the pet to use their special)
/pause 0.1
/tellpet attack (Re-engages your pet if they lack a special)
/echo Special One (Feedback; Can use color codes to make it stand out)
Map this to a key or place it in your hotbar and you can have your pet's specials fire almost every time. They may still be resisted, and some specials such as knockdown do not seem to work at all.

Q: Do I have to give pets commands by speaking out loud? I don't want to annoy people by spamming commands.
A: In addition to normal speech, you can use /tellpet to silently give commands to all of your currently active pets. For example "/tellpet attack" will cause any of your active pets who respond to the word "attack" to do so. This works over a long distance than /say or /shout, and can be very handy (especially in your own customized macros). There seems to be a bug with /tellpet and single letter commands, though, so it is advisable to give your pets commands that are more than one character long.

Question: What boxes do I have to get to control XX Creature Level?
Answer: Non-creature handlers can automatically control up to a Level 10 non-aggressive creature. For each box you gain in creature handling, add +2 to the creature level. Example: a 1/1/1/1 CH could control up to a CL 20 pet (the non-CH 10, +2 for Novice, +2 for each of the1/1/1/1). Aggressive pets are counted separately, and require specific boxes that grant control of vicious creatures, which can be seen in the skill tree for your character. Note that wookiees atuomatically gain bonuses for animal handling.

Q: How do I use the 'Guard' command to make a pet protect me?
A: First you'll need to bind some spoken phrase of your choice to "Guard," just as you would with any other pet command. Then simply target someone and speak (or /tellpet) the phrase that is bound to Guard. You won't get any kind of confirmation message or visible response from the pet. You'll only know that Guard is working by observing the pet's behavior in combat. If an enemy attacks the target you had your pet guard, the pet will move to engage that enemy.
You can set a pet to guard you by targeting yourself (CTRL+1 by default) before speaking the Guard phrase. Guard acts as a toggle... so you can have your pet stop guarding by targeting that entity and speaking the Guard phrase again.
Q. Sometimes my pet will slow way down or stop following me altogether. What can I do about this?
A. Problems with pet pathing have been an ongoing issue, and a difficult one to solve. Sometimes a pet will get caught on rocks or vegetation. In this case, moving so that there's a clear unobstructed path between you and the pet should allow it to break free with the next use of the Follow command.
Sometimes pets will stop or slow way down even when there are no obstacles in the way. You might not notice this has happened until your pet falls far behind. Sometimes getting relatively close (say 60-70 meters away) and re-issuing the Follow command will help. Storing and recalling the pet can also help. Having the pet engage in combat (perhaps just against some weak roadside critter) also sometimes seems to help. If all else fails, though, you may wish to just store the pet and recall it when you arrive at your destination.

Additionally, feeding the pet may straighten it out. Spiders can be commanded to do trick one where they spin around as well.
One way to tell your pet is doing this, besides it being slow, is that it will be moving one direction while facing a different one.
