Thread: If we ever DO get a combat rebalance...
Well, if you're referring to PvP, then you'd see a sudden simultaneous drop in Pet Vitality as most Elite Combat Classes have at least one powerful AOE.
If you are referring to PvE, then more than likely, you'd see a bunch of pets runaway in all different directions, attempting to reach they're optimal combat range. Chaos! PURE CHAOS!

lol
Several of these people do have combat skills while others don't depending on their play style so comments about how they should getthose skillsare irrelevant. Your post was inflamitory and insulting so you shouldn't be surprised that someone got upset. It isn't about free speach its about tone and attitude.
It isn't balanced in any form or fashion. The problem is you don't realize how weak pets are today from what I see in your post. I can tame a pet who's parent has 6k ham and decent protection and end up with a 4k ham pet with no protections. So the pet can't handle much smaller creatures much less one its own size as for PvP they are totally useless against all the rediculous buffs that exist today. If SOE is encouraging team play then why invent buffs that allow me to solo massive wild creatures without a worry? These guys aren't asking to be uber just functional and pets aren't functional today for anything more than showing off and collecting.
I, for one, do not care for being anywhere near invincible..it would eventually get boring mowing down every opponent I encounter. All I want is for the other half of my skill points (Master Creature Handler) to have a use in the area of the game I enjoy: PvP. Frankly, I don't see why it's so bad for us to be tough in any way, shape, or form. Look at the Riflemen.. AP 3 weapons, high-damaging area attacks, and a speed cap of 1.0 at master. And the devs don't seem to think they're too powerful.
The other day, me and two friends of mine, all of us Master Heavy Swordsmen, were working over a canyon krayt dragon's mind for about a half hour..it was almost dead. A Master Rifleman and a Commando come in and lay waste to its health and kill it before we can getits mind to zero in about 5 minutes, and they got loot rights. And even though I loved being a Fencer, I must admit that I think it is truly grossly unbalanced..it's just crazy that I could CoB and use Blind 2 and solo Fort Tusken unbuffed and unarmored.
Now, I ask you this: Why did they take CH, a functional profession, and beat it into uselessness, but then take Fencer, a broken profession, and turn it into a walking slaugherhouse?! My God, how chaotic this game is... ![]()
I want my pets to last longer than 3-5 sec in PvP, and tank for more than 1 lair in PvE.
PvE there are work arounds like bufing the secondary stats so in 5 min your pet can go from 1 HAM to 100% again, however those work arounds are killed by the autostore bug.
I think the question is, HOW do you balance a MCH in SWG?
I have a MCH myself and love him to death. Fun in PvE. Worthless in PvP. But, for the life of me, I can't figure out a way to balance a CH in this game.
A MCH by itself would be fine. Make the creatures like they are in the wild and throw in some neat special abilities. BUT when you combine that with MR (which my char aspires to be) or any other Master class combat profession and things are thrown WAY out of balance.
How would you do it?
I guess you could make the uber pets super hard to tame even for masters, but I'm pretty sure the wailing on these boards would be legendary.
So, I ask, how would you fairly balance pets for both PvP and PvE in SWG?

Don't let someone use a weapon while they use a pet? Disallow special attacks? Cut damage from the pet while wielding something other than a control device?
I am sure there are several solutions if it was determined there should be one.
