If this isn't the case, why is it that most of the NON-Master CH that respond don't understand what the fuss is about?

Perhaps because most of them have not also been a master of an elite combat profession (or two, or five) like those of us here from the beginning? I know the intricacies of many professions at the end game, not only creature handler.

As a master creature handler with NO combat skills, I rank around a novice elite more or less, but with a horrendous natural recovery time. When I was a master of any of my combat professions, pets were virtually irrelavent or even a hinderance were I wishing to power game. (I could make them work for me to avoid some hassles but pets were never needed by that point.)

I have to compare myself to a TKA because that is what balance is about. I spend more skillpoints and I am nowhere near equivalent. I do not wish to be equal, simply equivalent. Of course that also means defining a role since that of Tank has been taken over by melee professions. I do not mind being replaced as the Tank, however if we are to be relegated to Collectors or some other non-combat profession, please let us know and modify us to match.

Although we keep seeing posts demanding CH to be fixed, it seems to be the same people over and over, not necessarily the majority of MCH. The Devs probably have stats on just how many MCH exist, and I suspect the rantings here make up a very vocal, but very minor, portion. Second, the people complaining the loudest have been Masters for a long time and are mostly complaining their style of play has changed. We can argue whether we are closer to what the Devs planned for CH, but it still looks like people who remember the days of Pet Wars are the ones the most upset and want us to go back to that period. If this isn't the case, why is it that most of the NON-Master CH that respond don't understand what the fuss is about?

That's an interesting theory, but I didn't master CH until long after Pub 5 ... I mastered a different broken profession first (Merchant) and then gave that up in despair for something else ... which turned out to be even more broken after some ill-advised software changes.

I'd disagree that anything I've said constitutes "ranting" in any form, but an objective viewpoint on a major failing of project management in this product.

We know what they changed, we know what the change was meant to achieve, everyone including the devs have acknowledged that it only could have achieved it as part of a combat balance that never took place, and we know what it would take to make it functional again. This isn't landing a probe on Mars, all it takes is evaluating your change management documentation and un-doing a bad project management decision, simple as that. Half an hour dev time. And it looks like we won't get it ... probably ever, but definitely not before 2005 with the publish schedule we're seeing.

And yes, I think that's a fairly unacceptable level of service.

Who would get just as much done. Isn't it quite apparant that CH isn't in the focus light at the moment? So other than trying to get something in the Publish 10.1 Correspondent Issues patch, anything of which CHs in general have been hapring on for the past 6 months, there isn't much that Vert or a replacement could do in the first place.

Vert's doing fine as our voice and has been since day 1.

Vert has already said he is not able to delete posts and I for one believe him. It could be that Vert doesn't repsond to these threads because he knows that the devs don't like to see their flaws pointed out or attacked. A partial role back would be dead easy, provide a decent version control system and documentation was used.

It may be better to have a correspondant that is on our side but also doesn't PO the devs too much either. I think this is Verts point of view. Another opinion is that a correspondant should be agressive but that is JUST another opinion.

Being a wookiee it did take quite a bit to get some sought of balance with armour, it has now started and is continuing which is great. It did take quite a lot to achieve though, endless polls and even in game peaceful protests.

I may be going out on a limb here and it's not as easy to make a CH as it is to make a wookiee but I think that it would be good to see a couple of hundred CHs in theed all with their pets out and named "Nerf" or something similar, it would be a sight to behold.

While I step into my flame retardent suit, let me first say I fully agree Creature Handler is either broken or the other professions are. Whichever way you look at it, it's pretty obvious we're not in the same class as other professions. Much of that comes back to defining exactly what is the CH role, but that's been kicked around already.

Just a bit of prespective. If you read the forums and look at all the "Fix CH" posts you'll notice certain names keep appearing over and over. Perhaps not surprisingly, many of those names are Community Elders that have been MCH for a long time. That leads to the first problem. Hey, there's probably good points to explain our position. But most of the flames going up are just making us Old Timers look like idiots who want to be the Leet-est, uber-est profession and screw everybody else. You'll have to convince me that replacing our Correspondant with someone spewing vitriolic demands with few solutions other than rolling CH back to the Pet Wars days is going to get anything changed. You and I both feel there's something wrong with CH. But until I can put a finger on something more specific than "a TKA can solo something I can't" I'm not going to make demands that I don't feel will ultimate benefit us. There can be a big difference between perception and reality and right now I'm having to step back and see if I'm missing something since my non-master brethern don't seem to be agreeing with my views.

"As far as the “baby spawns”, that is a different issue but we are working to fit that into the development schedule under the “Correspondent Issues” for Mini Publish 10-1."

Taken from todays 19 questions. And TH also mentioned that we must wait until the combat balance for any relief from our weakling status. It appears that they think creature level is "correct" right now, and every profession (except for ours) will be adjusted down. Like I said earlier, see you folks in August.

As I mentioned when grading 19 Answers, anything that mentioned the combat balance I just ignored. I've been hearing that song since November, why should I believe it now? It's a bag of magic beans.

Still wishing "my" correspondent would provide some input on a non-flaming, seriously considered CH question that a large part of this community wants to hear a response on.
