I use:

Ctrl+Shift+1 for Attack

Ctrl+Shift+2 for Follow

Ctrl+Shift+3 for Stay

Ctrl+Shift+4 for Store

Alt+1 for Special Attack 1

Alt+2 for Special Attack 2

...

Use your imagination

My Attack command text "at" worked in a macro up till a recent patch, now it seems that the command text must be longer than 2-3 characters to work reliably. Try as I did and extend your command texts and rework the macro's to match will be interested to hear if this works for you.

Thats it, the pet doesn't even recognise a command has been issued.

I have the same issue. I always used to make my pet follow me with "ME" ....... but after publish ..ermm ... 10.x .... it stopped working .....i need to say,whisper,yell it .... it doesn't work with tellpet anymore.

And sometimes the "go" command to follow target is completely ignored too. While taming, the question mark stays over their head, like they didn't even hear you.
