Thread: Ysalamiri in Galaxies

I like this idea as well. A special BE quest would be really sweet. Some love for our Bios! Wonder what the Jedi would say...
How about we keep it somewhat simple...why don't they add a another slot to the BE clone template schematic for a special "secret" ingredient. The ingredient would come as loot from high level mobs--ie. "Ysalamiri DNA", and the description would read somethig like this: "this dna has been sampled from a creature that is resistant to the Force, perhaps a BE could use this sample to create a pet with these special resists", it would then list it's special resists and the stats--the numbers don't always have to be the same for every loot, some would be better than others--and it wouldn't have to only be ysalamiri, or even related to the force--myself, I want a fire breathing pet--just because it would look cool to have my razor cat or kimobreath fire!...now is there a creature in the EU that breathes fire?
BE's hold to much of teh CH's power, give us a reason to tame again.

BAH! DON'T make this a BE pet, make it a MCH QUEST only pet! It's got the "uber-ness" to make it a one of a kind for an MCH due to it's force "aborbing" qualities and it can't be traded. We have enough pets that the BE's can make for us using DNA from mobs we have zero chance of taming.
It was stated by someone earlier that the devs for some reason don't want to introduce these creatures as pets--if that is indeed the case, then being able to clone some of their attributes into a BE pet is the next best thing.
btw, you can never have enough pets from BE's--LOL, as CH's we should be asking for more DNA variety!!!!!...not that I'm opposed to new tamables, but that's not likely to happen until a planet expansion comes along, that's why the upcoming JTL is such a let-down.
...they could have thrown us a bone and put inatleast 2 new planets.
Stop coming up with ideas that they won't put in, if something had that kind of power it wouldn't be in the hands of an everyday player (Well jedi are, dum dum dum). Either it would be part of the story to force jedi into lower visibility or it would be a new area with NPC's that controlled them. But I don't want to be toting around a hello kitty jedi killer backpack, any TKM/MCH could destroy a jedi (TKM can already destroy them to a degree). Jedi basically rely on force run in more than one on one duels, with this pet you would basically hinder their healing, force running, and other useless jedi tricks that the devs wasted time on (They are sick of artwork because they spent on their time on the magical lightning effects on the meditate, ohhh). The devs are going to add content that is going to be fast, when the time comes for the combat balance and other non-bandaid fixes they may consider an outlandish idea like this. Otherwise start thinking of interesting mods for the class, or bringing extinct pets back.
Personally, I would like them to remove the jedi ego tree. This would certainly stop the excessive bragging, though it would cause a hell of alot more whining. I am just sick of seeing the focus our of game, the one we are funding, being some totally non-cinematic jedi defense stacker quest. When this game first started wasn't it supposed to be something along the lines of: "You don't have to kill rats to "level" you can have fun in any playstyle! Craft! Dance! Etc.! It is your choice!". I think whoever is in charge (I am ignorant to the development department here) needs to remember what game they are making. Granted there is probably some plan in play right now, fix the jedi, fix the bounty hunters so they can hunt the jedi, add content to keep players busy (Jump to lightspeed), while players are busy code combat balance/galactic civil war, tweak and add new ground content. Something like that? Probably but we arn't as patient as them it seems. I would stop assuming what was going on if someone told the community what was going on, heh (Haven't been keeping up on the news but it seems that people are clueless around the boards I have been surfing). Again just so we are clear, I don't keep up on the times so if some kind of schedule or plan has been revealed by the powers that be I apologize

Guys, come on, be reasonable here. What kind of idiot would actually put in something that totally stops jedi from using their force (The thing they spent a whole publish on)? So it is usable by master creature handlers? It is a backpack/use item? Only obtained on a special quest that everyone would know about hmmm. Think of more reasonable ideas instead of saying "omgz I want akimbo T21's and backflipping abilityzzz". Yes I would enjoy seeing the downfall of all jedi, but that isn't going to happen. Even if it did get put in, do you think you would be the only one who had one? Hell everyone who wanted to kill jedi would either get a master creature handler or become one. Meaning every guild would have a MCH who was brought to raids, coronet, blah just to mess with jedi power...I am starting to like this idea (Finally a place in the economy! Being hired to stand near jedi! -_-,).
If they did implement anything that would negate the use of the force, it would most likely be a timer type effect, or a bleed. That's why I suggested force resists for cloned pets with ysalamiri dna, it would just lessen the effect of force powers on the pet. I think this idea is a good compromise. There was another creature in the EU that had some resists to lightsabers because of it's mirrored scale armor--the fireworm in the jedi academy trilogy--that dna could be added as a special ingredient for clones, and the scales could be added to make special armor. I see all of this being implemented as high-level loot drops--not the uber cave/dungeon loot, or the 100k+HAM npc/monsters, but the soloable high level mobs. Reason being? Armorsmith's and BE's aregoing to want to gather these items for their products, but it's likely they won't have the FOTM template to solo krayts.

hehe...yup, there are some ideas that I wish would die, but then there are those that just may need a little more thought. This should be discussed WITH as much Jedi input as possible. Perhaps posting a link on their board would bring them into the discussion.

...frustrated? It's understandable, but having a lot of jedi was inevitable--we all knew it. I would like to have a FS character too, but I refused to holo-grind...it never made sense to me--I may give the new quest system a look though.
