Certainly see a few knocking around Bria....but then they're probably outnumbered by Bothans so that's not saying a lot!

I concur (tho I haven't played in app. 2 wks, I take breaks like that from time to time) It's as one of those rare bothans, ch's are even more rare. At most I may see 1 other ch in a given night. As someone said earlier, I think a lot of it is the insane amount of xp required to move up the ladder. If your a non-grinder like me, it literally takes months (almost to master ch, "only" 4 more boxes to go! :smileytongue whereas with the other proffs, even a casual player can pretty much zing through 'em with no problem. I probably changed proffesions 50-60 times in the 5-6 months in part because it was so easy, and in part because i didn't know what i wanted to be when I grew up. (still don't for that matter, and I'm 34:smileysurprised Only reason i've kept with ch is cause 1) fun, 2) i'm primarily a solo'er, 3) I like the idea of my own private little army, and 4) did I mention it's fun?!

Over the past 2 months I have been seeing a lot more new creature handlers on Corbantis. At first I wasn't sure if it was just that I was noticing them more after becoming a master myself but several friends have also commented to me recently that they have been seeing more as well. I have also noticed an increase in the number of tells that I am getting to train pets for people in addition to the number of requests for training from new creature handlers.

Hmm, maybe people who play other classes are anticipating CH being more worthwhile after the CR (assuming it happens at some point in the next milennia).

ok so i trained a novice CH the other day, and asked them if they were going to go master. their reply:

"I can afford a speeder thank you"

ive been in a mood with SWG since and am only logging on to grow pets. 8(

I always see at least one other CH when I'm on, but that is because my wife and I both play as a CH

I did see one new novice last week, but then I'm usually out in the wilderness and rarely come to town, such that some nights I only see one or two other players.

Just my thoughts, do with them what you will.

Well Lowca has been a dead scene for CH's for quite some time for the most part. I still get regular giggles from folks while waiting at shuttles and such regarding my MCH title (that i will never give up). I'm guildmaster for an all wookiee guild (WOK) on our server and we have a number of long time MCH's within our ranks, sadly not as many as we used to as some have quit SWG or surrendered their CH skills in favor of more effective combat skillsets. Aside from my guildmates there are a handful of notorious CH's on the server but I havent been approached by an aspiring CH for quite a loooooong time.

I was a CH on my first character, on Valcyn, and I liked it so much I picked it up on Naritus.

There aren't a lot of CH's on Naritus, but I do see some. (I even inspired someone to be a CH )

My CH char on Eclipse (Oseali) is going smuggler. With him he has Ades who is a MDOC, MCM.

I will NEVER give up CH for 1) its fun and 2) it takes a long time go be master. Now I "only" need 2½ of level 4 boxes..

I'm a MCH on Farstar since the Release of the Game and i havent played SWG since my Holo told me to get Droid Engineer, lol.Thats was 5 Month ago. (Ive sworn me to never get a Crafting Profession with my Char).
Well, i'm back to SWG since 2 Weeks now and im waiting for JTL.(And lost my hope, to get an Force-Sensetive Slot one Day)

Sometimes i get a tell from old IG Buddys to drop MCH because its nerfed to hell. They say i should get TKM for it because im MCH/Fencer.
But i dont care, im building up a new IG Life atm, and i want to max out my Fencer Skills.
When im done with that, im gonna go hunt some Rares.

MCH is in my opinion not a Profession, its simply great to be a Beastmaster, to control some of the most feared Creatures in the Universe, to train them, feed them and see them grow up.
(And its problably one of the best Classes, if you want to make some Roleplay).

on chilastra i see alot more CH's around...but then again i've seen alot more drop it. the other day i was on coronet to pick up some wedding rings...and there was a newbie...when he saw me run up with my three girls he said "WHOA!!!. that guy looks so cool...the one with the htree saber-tooth thingies!" that just made my day better knowing that he liked what he saw. i've talked to him since and he's now a novice working on master

Seen a bunch of novices lately on corbantis but MCH's? it seems like you have a better chance of finding a baby bull rancor otw to the FS village. Sadly I had to give up CH recently as I turned my old main into a buff bot to suport my aspireing jedi account. Was painful to let it go but when I look at it the only reason I'v called pets in the last 9 months has been to either show them off or boost mision lvls. I may take it back up after the revamp but SOE just took too darnd long after makeing the pets less than useless

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

I must concur with you as I am a MasterCH on chilastra and I find myself going anonymous due to the high volume of requests to tamepeople's pets..only to find out they cannot handle the pet after I train it....akkkk I try to ask all the right questions before I accept a pet for training but...sometimes it's an agressive level 10 which a nonCH cannot handle..they should label these pets!!...it's the worst...fortunately all of the folks I have dealt with have been great!! Thanks!

I know quite a few CH on Sunrunner, most are dabblers and not MCH. There is really no point in being a master CH, the difference between a BE 35 pet and a level 70 pet are at best minimal. The advantages of multiple pets vs one pet is again minimal because mobs tend to swarm one. Most of the MCH I knew have dumped master for 0/4/1/4 CH which gives them max level of 38. My CL35 pets are only marginally inferior to my 70 kimos and they are maxed out with the best dna. Wild pets blow, I dont bother taming wild pets anymore unless its a mob I havent seen for a while and get rid of it as soon as the novelty wears off.

It is quite comical because they nerfed the hell out of CH to cripple the dabblers and make Master more worthwile yet they have just made dabblers even stronger than before, particularly dabblers with BE pets.

I have a number of low 20 CL pets (23s and 24s) which have an 8k+ ham average, light armour and 60% kinetic resists and have KD/Dizzy for specials. You can use one of those with 0/4/0/0 CH and have 16 different pets, now that you can call them out of combat anywhere you don't have to actually heal them all that often. They dont do a lot of damage, perhaps 75 tops but they can take punishment and drop mobs on their rear end. They are pure PvE pets, but do the same job the maulers did in the past.

They may not exactly be the old Graul Maulers but they certainly come pretty close and for fewer points required, as my pets are normally non-vicious pets you don't need any creature taming or the inconvenience of wearing BE clothes.

There is only a marginal difference between a level 70 pet and what you will get with a mid 30 pet, a slightly higher and more even ham plus a little better resists outside kinetic and a bit more damage, hardly worth investing a significant amount more and has created more dabblers than ever before.

Most of my requests are from dabblers asking for their pets to be trained with abilities they can not teach. There are probably 2% of CHs remaining as masters on my server, everyone else is a dabbler.
