Hehe, good story. At least your tale had a happy ending. Mine was a bit more frustrating.

A couple of months ago, some players on Kettemoor ran a scavenger hunt. One of the items we had to find was a baby mantigrue screecher. I put out the call to guild chat for Rangers and for folks to fly around looking for screecher lairs.

I flew to Endor, and started driving around randomly. After about 25 minutes ... a screecher lair! Four adults.

I went back to guild chat, and asked for some folks to meet me at thus-and-such coordinates. I didn't have the combat ability to deal with four adults, so needed some additional firepower.

Half a dozen guildies showed up -- including a Master Ranger. We took out the four adults, then pulled back. I tapped the lair, and two more adults popped out. Sadly, this is where things went south.

The moment the red dots appeared, the others opened fire. One, the Ranger, had the lair selected at the time and started firing at the lair! He also had a cat out, on guard duty. My heart stopped a beat when I saw a yellow dot appear outside the lair, which then launched itself at the Ranger's cat.

Argh! I started yelling for him to get out of combat! To run away with his cat! Get away from the baby! Then, he fired at it with his pistol and hit it with a bleed.

Double aargh! Get out of combat! Get away from the baby! Store! Store! Store! No, you can't store while in combat! Run away, and tell your cat to follow!

He started running. The cat followed him. The baby follwed the cat. I followed the baby. I told him to burst to get away faster. He did. The cat followed. The baby followed. I followed.

Combat ended, when the Ranger and his cat got out of range. I ran up to the baby and started taming. I had my finger over my pet stim hotkey, to heal it the moment the tame succeeded. But just as the message popped up saying I'd successfully tamed it...

...it bled out and died.

Triple aaargh!

I so wanted that Ranger's head on a platter.
