Thread: Let's Talk About Mounts
1. Which best describes how often you use mounts? (Pick One)
- Seldom. Perhaps for a change of pace every now and then, but mostly I run or use vehicles
2. Pleasere-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
- Bol
- Kaadu
- Brackaset
- Carrion Spat
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you:
- Physical appearance
4. Please rank the following design requests in descending order (most important first) of how much they would increase the desirability of mounts in your eyes:
- Make more creatures mountable
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
- Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
- Big Cats.... Grand Wrix/Greater Sludge Panther
- Rancors/Grauls
- Cu'pa
- Some sort of flying mount
--- When fighting. I usually dismount and use the mount as a regular combat pet.
2. Pleasere-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
--- Dewback
--- Brackaset
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
--- Combat strength as a regular pet
4. Please rank the following design requests in descending order (most important first) of how much they would increase the desirability of mounts in your eyes:
--- Desirable to me or what I think would make them more desirable to non-ch?
>> To me:
Make more creatures mountable (I want my gualama mount as shown in their design sketches!
Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
>> What I think non-ch's would want (if mounts are ever to be marketable again, it would have to meet their wants):
Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
Make more creatures mountable
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
gualama (hey, since they already designed the artwork for the harness and saddle!)
ronto
bantha
cu-pa
something unexpected (rancor, graul, any spider model, giant peko peko, kimogila- ha!)
6. (Optional) If you have any mount-related comments or feedback, please feel free to give that here.
A- I don't really care that they're slower than vehicles. They're faster than walking and they're more useful than vehicles when hunting. I only use vehicles if I want to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. When I'm out hunting or exploring, I prefer a mount for the added protection and security.
B- What happened to the "more mounts to come in the future"?! When they first announced mounts, they said to not get your panties in a bunch if your favorite animal wasn't on that first list, as it was just the "starting list" for a long line of future pet mounts.....
.... well?
- Seldom. Perhaps for a change of pace every now and then, but mostly I run or use vehicles

There's a lot of other stuff on our plate, but I would like to get some ideas generated for a "mount request document" to present to the Devs. If you could answer the following questions, I would be most grateful.
1. Which best describes how often you use mounts? (Pick One)

Very Seldom I use them for combat while mounted. Sometimes when I do faction missions.
- When fighting. I usually dismount and use the mount as a regular combat pet.
- When fighting. I usually stay mounted and use default attacks from atop the mount.
- When fighting. I usually dismount and try to keep the pet out of the battle entirely.
- All the time. I move around on mounts almost everywhere I go.
2. Pleasere-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):

But I wish mounts all had their special little bonuses between each one other than longer gallop times and slightly different speeds.
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
- Speed over short distances.
- Endurance. I'll take a hit inraw speed, as long as I can gallop most of the time
- Physical appearance
- Combat strength as a regular pet
I really can't pick one, all of these are important, among others...

5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
1: Rancor (MCH only)
2: Ravenous Torton (MCH only)

4: Pickets
5: Kimogila (MCH only)

I understand and agree that vehicles should be, usually the refered mode of travel over most distances, but something needs to be done to give mounts some viability.
- Such as functioning as pack animals for resources only.
- Being able to use some specials while riding a mount.
- The mount being able to attack while mounted.
- The mount recovering from being winded quicker.
- Multiperson mounts such as Ravenous Tortons, Kimogila's and other large frame creatures.
Thanks, Vert...

Did you see "Attack of the Clones" ? There was a Flying mount there...

Thanks, Vert! Appreciate the opportunity to discuss the mount issues.
1. Pick only one?I use my pet far more than seldom but much less than often. It's not that I use my mount as a change of pace, it's thatI usually run so I can use Ranger tracking. I have a vehicle but only use it when I absolutly have to get some place fast, otherwise Iride my mountwhen not hunting and just want to get from place to place. As a result, there have been times I've used my mount as an attack pet when I ran into dangerous situations. So, best I can answer is I use my mount in a variety of ways.
2. Brackaset is only mount I have.
3. Combat strength in battle - and because as a CH I feel it's more in keepingwith my role play that I use a pet rather than a vehicle.
4. Let mounts gallop longer and recover faster.
Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts.
Let at least some players have the mount fight while riding it.
Other: I don'teven see the point ofmaking more creatures mountable until there are some reasons/advantages for choosing a mount over a vehicle. As it stands, most people don't even want the mounts that are available now because they prefer vehicles. Is that some how going to change by adding more mounts? I'm not saying make mounts better than vehicles and certainly not the same as vehicles. Rather, they should both have their advantages and disadvantages such thatit willgivepeople pause toconsiderwhat will best suit their needs/preferences.And I don't think the answer is making some mounts as fast as vehicles.Speed should remain one of the advantages that vehicles have.Give the mount advantages more in keeping with what might be reasonable for a creature.Superior terrain navigation for example. As a side note, I don't think there should be flying mounts. As cool as that would be, that's crossing a little bit too much over into the fantasy genre for my preference. I know, Creature Handler isn't exactly pure science fiction - it certainly smacks of "fantasy". But all the more reasonnot toadd even more fantasy-like elements to the game.
5. See #4 "Other"- as the game exists now, why add more mounts? Unless each of the different kinds of mounts had advantages/abilities. Well, I suppose if there weresome level 60 uber-mounts, us master creature handlers would at least be happy.
6. See #4 "Other"
- When fighting. I usually dismount and try to keep the pet out of the battle entirely.
2. Pleasere-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
- (GIANT) Carrion Spat
- (MOUNTAIN) Dewback
- Speed over short distances.
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Make more creatures mountable
- Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
- Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
Cu Pa
Bantha
Ronto / Sharnaff
Blurg / Kwi
Most mounts are not necessarily good combat pets.
Therefore their role becomes mostly "transport"
But compared to vehicles, they are not the best "transport"
Other advantages could make them more attractive:
such as: suveying from mounts but not vehicles
or: adding storage like an extra backpack to the mount's saddles
Vertexon,
you're not teasing us are you? ![]()
Is there reallyany reason to believe that the devs will do anything more to make mounts more usefull?
* When fighting. I usually dismount and try to keep the pet out of the battle entirely.
2. Please re-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
* Carrion Spat

1. Which best describes how often you use mounts? (Pick One)
- Seldom. Perhaps for a change of pace every now and then, but mostly I run or use vehicles
The reason is because current mounts: 1)are slow, 2) not viable in a fight
2. Pleasere-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
- Dewback
- Bol
- Falumpaset/Humbaba
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
- Speed over short distances.
- Combat strength as a regular pet
Sorry, I had to list these two because they both are equally determining factors.
4. Please rank the following design requests in descending order (most important first) of how much they would increase the desirability of mounts in your eyes:
- Make more creatures mountable
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
- Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Give MCH's high-end mounts: a flying mount with constant swoop speedand a rancor mount at least
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
- Rancor - MCH Only
- Giant Peko Peko (or similar sized creature) - MCH Only
- Large cats like GSP's, but with the power of a high end pet
- Kimogila - MCH Only
- Horse-like creatures: Bordok/Gualama/Krahbu or Piket/Sharnaff/Bolle Bol
One other request: A Gaping Spider Recluse would be a very unique mount and it's big enough.
6. (Optional) If you have any mount-related comments or feedback, please feel free to give that here.
There are two problems with mounts that keep me from using them:
- Speed
- Combat viability
Mounts aren't fast enough to make long trips worth using them, especially when vehicles have a clear advantage with speed. If I use a mount I can usually outrun creatures, but if I run into something fast I have to hop off my mount and fight. Now the combat viability of the mount comes into play. I can't call a new creature while in combat so I have to rely on my own skills and my mount's fighting ability. Lets face it, any encounter on Dant or Dath is going to incap my mount and leave me running for the hills. CH should have at least two high end mounts... one for speed and one for combat viability. A Giant Peko Peko would be a perfect speed mount---making them as fast as swoops. A rancor would be a perfect combat mount. Cats and Bordoks would be a balance between speed and combat. Kimos would of course be combat. Most MCH's own at least one kimo. Letting us mount our rancor or kimo as MCH would be a real moral booster and we would feel like we earned something. If you only give us two mounts I definitely want a swoop speed flier and a combat viable rancor (and let those of us that own rare pets mount our bull rancor). If I had these I would never use my vehicles again.
