Thread: Let's Talk About Mounts
- Seldom. Perhaps for a change of pace every now and then, but mostly I run or use vehicles
- When fighting. I usually dismount and use the mount as a regular combat pet.
- When fighting. I usually stay mounted and use default attacks from atop the mount.
- When fighting. I usually dismount and try to keep the pet out of the battle entirely.
- All the time. I move around on mounts almost everywhere I go.
- Dewback
- Bol
- Falumpaset/Humbaba
- Brackaset
- Kaadu
- Carrion Spat
- Speed over short distances.
- Endurance. I'll take a hit inraw speed, as long as I can gallop most of the time
- Physical appearance
- Combat strength as a regular pet
- Make more creatures mountable
- Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
- Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Other (write in)

- Physical appearance (i like both of these alot and am kinda drawn between em)
- Make more creatures mountable (some flying ones would be amazing...)

- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Let at least some players use specialattacks on mounts
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Kliknik (has a nice area to sit on)
- Ronto (by small species)
- Any flying creature... not sure how you'd make it work though
- the elephant type creatures (thune, etc)
- Scratch the other idea, why not BANTHAS!? I thought that would be DEFINATELY in the first release of mounts, and it wasn't

Falumpaset/Humbaba type, A savage humbaba
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
Physical appearance, then Combat strength as a regular pet, since speed doesn't vary much between mount types.

Ok, Cupa as a mount he ll it looks just like a Taun-taun (sp?)from the planet Hoth? from the movies.
We love the movies toss us a bone
To sum it up, alarge mount like a kimo or more likely a Tortur that we can use as a weapons platform ie. a little camp tent on it's back and a large avian mount like a Lantern bird or a Peko-peko or another fast mount such as a spider type ie. a giant angler or a Merek.

1. Which best describes how often you use mounts? (Pick One)
All the time. I move around on mounts almost everywhere I go.
2. Pleasere-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
- Dewback
- Carrion Spat
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
- Speed over short distances.
4. Please rank the following design requests in descending order (most important first) of how much they would increase the desirability of mounts in your eyes:
- Other (write in) - Create more uses for pets like mountable weapons and carrying capacity
- Make more creatures mountable
- Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
- One of the flying creatures
- Bantha (for role playing)
- One of the cats (razor, panther, ect)
- One of the spiders
- Fambaa
6. (Optional) If you have any mount-related comments or feedback, please feel free to give that here.
I think one of the biggest things that will balance out mounts is making some a little faster (not as fast as speeders) and fix maintenence on vehicles so they cost to maintain. Currently it does not cost, so they are the transport of choice. Pets would not cost anything, and could fight if need be.

Thanks, Vert! Appreciate the opportunity to discuss the mount issues.
1. Pick only one?I use my pet far more than seldom but much less than often. It's not that I use my mount as a change of pace, it's thatI usually run so I can use Ranger tracking. I have a vehicle but only use it when I absolutly have to get some place fast, otherwise Iride my mountwhen not hunting and just want to get from place to place. As a result, there have been times I've used my mount as an attack pet when I ran into dangerous situations. So, best I can answer is I use my mount in a variety of ways.
2. Brackaset is only mount I have.
3. Combat strength in battle - and because as a CH I feel it's more in keepingwith my role play that I use a pet rather than a vehicle.
4. Let mounts gallop longer and recover faster.
Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts.
Let at least some players have the mount fight while riding it.
Other: I don'teven see the point ofmaking more creatures mountable until there are some reasons/advantages for choosing a mount over a vehicle. As it stands, most people don't even want the mounts that are available now because they prefer vehicles. Is that some how going to change by adding more mounts? I'm not saying make mounts better than vehicles and certainly not the same as vehicles. Rather, they should both have their advantages and disadvantages such thatit willgivepeople pause toconsiderwhat will best suit their needs/preferences.And I don't think the answer is making some mounts as fast as vehicles.Speed should remain one of the advantages that vehicles have.Give the mount advantages more in keeping with what might be reasonable for a creature.Superior terrain navigation for example. As a side note, I don't think there should be flying mounts. As cool as that would be, that's crossing a little bit too much over into the fantasy genre for my preference. I know, Creature Handler isn't exactly pure science fiction - it certainly smacks of "fantasy". But all the more reasonnot toadd even more fantasy-like elements to the game.
5. See #4 "Other"- as the game exists now, why add more mounts? Unless each of the different kinds of mounts had advantages/abilities. Well, I suppose if there weresome level 60 uber-mounts, us master creature handlers would at least be happy.

5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
- Rancor
- Razor Cat (Larger Model?)
- Ronto
- Bantha
- Kwi
- Pugoriss (i know 5 only, but what the hell hehehe)
*PS: Please have the harnesess not have the bits which cover the eyes. looses the X factor imho.
1. I havent used a mount since vehicles went live. Mainly because vehicles are faster and the wild tameable mounts right now are just not good enough to use in battle.
2. The mounts I used to use before vehicles were the bol (why arent wild bols spawning babies?), mountain dewback, and kaadu for speed.
3. Speed of course, thats what a mount is for. But why cant a master CH have an awesome tank as a mount?
4. More higher-level mountable creatures.
5. klikniks (including queen, which means it needs to spawn babies again), flying creature (mantigrues), cat-like creatures (such as grand wrix, swamp stalker, gurreck, great plains stalker, etc.), ronto, piket, bantha.
6. In order to have some of the creatures be mounts, they need to be tameable...LETS GET THAT FIXED FIRST
1. When fighting, I usually dismount and use the mount as a regular combat pet. I also use the mount often in traveling from mission lair to mission lair, but the initial trip into the field is often made by speeder, as is the return trip to the city or starport. For long hauls, I use the vehicle for speed. The mounts can't compete there.
2. Dewback (most frequent), savage humbaba, giant carrion spat (least frequent). While I was still an MCH, I'd use the dewback and the giant carrion spat the most frequently.
3. Appearance (and personality...I love my dew Huey).
4. Design requests in order:

Note on this I have a speciallay be's mount for fighting proir to this my answer would have been:
Seldom. Perhaps for a change of pace every now and then, but mostly I run or use vehicles
2. Please re-order the following mounts in descending order of how often you use them (omit mounts you never use):
Dewback
Kaadu
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
Combat strength as a regular pet
Other wise a vehicle is stronger and much faster
4. Please rank the following design requests in descending order (most important first) of how much they would increase the desirability of mounts in your eyes:

* Make more creatures mountable
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
#1 Rancor
2 Fambooa (just need a step stool to get on it
3 Flying creature (I don't care which)
4 Cu pa (or a taunton)
5 any flying creature (did I mention this
6. (Optional) If you have any mount-related comments or feedback, please feel free to give that here.
Becuase of the HAM and speed of mounts they are basically useless except to CH's If a creature is mounted it should have a CL of 10, no special attacks and a lengthened attack time for non CH's but give us a market back. The only people I see riding mounts are CH's or people in hunting groups with CH's since you need a camp to call pets and they can't keep up with vehicles.
the Warp problem. many times I have /dismounted and my pet warps 500M away or worse or I warp.
Mounts have saddle bags why can't we store things in them? I don't want to take away from de's but have a artisan ability to produve a saddle bag that a CH can add to a mount so it can store some items (this is realism I think)
- Cats
- Faambas/Malclocs (sp?)
- Banthas (its just starwarsy)
- Cu Pas (sort of starwarsy)
- Rancors (also starwarsy. just look at what the nightsisters are supposed to ride)

There's a lot of other stuff on our plate, but I would like to get some ideas generated for a "mount request document" to present to the Devs. If you could answer the following questions, I would be most grateful.

Seldom - only if my vehicle is about to go boom or I am wandering an area slowly just for the heck of it.

- Dewback
- Bol
- Falumpaset/Humbaba
- Brackaset
- Kaadu
- Carrion Spat
Bol - CL49 BE made though, not a wild version. No others, kaadu/spat gallop is pointless because of duration, brack/humbaba is ok but I prefer the bol look now.
3. What's the single most important quality in a mount to you?
- Speed over short distances.
- Endurance. I'll take a hit inraw speed, as long as I can gallop most of the time
- Physical appearance

None of these - raw speed is already barely faster than a normal run and gallop is pointless as a travel boost. Keep speed as is, or even increase it AND make gallop worth something, maybe equal to X34 speed for example, since we cannot attack while galloping.
4. Please rank the following design requests in descending order (most important first) of how much they would increase the desirability of mounts in your eyes:

- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping
- Other (write in)
- Give at least some mounts vehicle speed, at least when galloping - and not just the kaadu/spat.
- Let mounts gallop longer and recover from being winded faster
- Let at least some playershave the mount itself fight while riding it (CH only, something in Emp line)
- Let at least some players use special attacks on mounts (as above)
- Make more creatures mountable (much as I hate to say it, this option is basically fluff - fundamental issues need addressing first)
5. Please list the top five creatures you would like to see made mountable
- Cu Pa
- Bantha
- Snorbal
- Razor cat or Gurrcat (maybe with a size restriction on who can use it)
- Mawgax
6. (Optional) If you have any mount-related comments or feedback, please feel free to give that here.
We have rapidly seen that the money impact of vehicles is trivial, partially becuase of the 'free fix' bug from shuttling, but largely because money is a non-issue for most players. Fixing my speeder to full from below 50% even twice a day is totally trivial compared to my earnings. Therefore, the only way to re-dress the issue is to improve speed on mounts, imo. Not just galloping, but base speed as well. Hearing even the possiblity for mounts being able to take part in real combat is exciting, but MUST be restricted to CH only, preferably something moderately high (e.g. pet can fight while mounted at Emp3/4, rider can use specials while mountedat master).
