Thread: Return of the Elites.....

why not just make a new special disease L1 L2 and L3, L1 being like poison, L2 strong poison, L3 being like plague strike
Because that would take a least a week of coding and would probably do more harm to the profession from all the new bugs that would include.
Dont listen to any of them! Just fix what we have then consider adding new stuff (or bringing back old stuff), but only if your 100% sure you wolnt break everything again!
I remember getting my Gaping Spider Queen. Was my first "rare". Came up on her by accident. Had to sneak into the nest and the first tame was a no go. My mask scent broke in the middle of the 2nd atempt but got her anyway. Stored her and just had time to get to my bike before they all attacked. Man....was such a thrill....the good old days.

You know, poison could be part of a spider or snake's default attack. It would have a certain chance to stick but would only be on that type of creature. Would not be trainable or commandable. Not completly sure about it but it just came to me. Couldnt be very strong though. But it would still make those type of creatures more true to their species.

Trophy hunting in itself was a big part of the CH profession before the CU and at fanfest they were talking about adding tamable elite pets on Kashyyyk. Now this appears to be a complete reversal of swg and hope that in the near future elite pets will be re instated.
Get this on your list please Ko-a!!!
As far as poison and disease special.
Disease does not work anymore and not sure if its because swg wants to take disease out of the game but if that is the case they need to remove the disease from the sarlacc. Poison should be apart of pets arsenal though since we can control spiders and snakes whom should be very venomous. Come on swg put some content u took away from us back into the game.
Keldarin flat out told us that the Elites were removed because the new pet system was designed to replace them, statistic-wise. Prior to the Combat Upgrade, Elites did not exist. They existed from the Combat Upgrade going Live to Publish 21 and now are gone. Before the new system (and post-CU), Elites were about the only way we could have a decent pet. Now, the mix/match specials system enables you to create your own Elite, given the time and investment to do so.
We still have the rare, highly coveted trophy pets. This has not changed, in fact it has been enhanced by the addition of new pets for the collector. Before Publish 21, you could not tame a Stoneskin Hanadak, Blurrg Raptor or Graul Marauder, for example. Now, all three are tamable and exceedingly rare because of their method of spawning (single, solitary spawns). They join the old rares, such as the Wild Dune Boar, Great Plains Stalker, Malignant Squill, etc., that shared the same spawn method. Sure, while these pets are statistically not really any better than similar pets of their level, they are the "rare" pets and it will not be often that you see one. A true collector will prize their value and know what it means to own one, and one fully leveled and fully trained will be quite the achievement.
About the only thing I could see them adding are rare pet specials that only appear on certain types of pets and are very difficult to acquire. That might be something the dev team could be open to, but I really don't see any way they'd put pure "Elite" pets back in the same way they used to be, as it would create a grossly unbalanced game situation.
Could you imagine having 3 CL 22 7K Health Female Narglatches in the new system, fully leveled and stuck full of specials? You'd be totally and ridiculously unbalanced... that is why the Elites are gone.
I don't see any reason why we can't make a list of specials we'd like to see and work on pushing for those to be added though. I'll drop a sticky up top before I shut down my computer this evening and start collecting some feedback.

I disagree with you about Keldarin position on elite pets because at Fanfest he openly discussed adding more elites to the game including adding some tamable on Kashyyyk that were to be elites. I agree with you that Narglatches were way to overpowered for a cl 22 pet and they should never had 7k of ham. My response to that is what was it that made these creatures elite in the first place as they were simple cats but did notice that the elites seemed to mostly be associated with the ferocity levels of the creature. Simply make the nargs normal againand keep the Great PlainsStalker and other extremely difficult pets to get the way they were. To me removing Elite pets was a complete reversal of what was intended at Fan Fest.
What I see happening is CH now having the majority of their pets bio pets becausethe regen rate is so much better, 170 defense cap, 8k ham, and damage over 400. Wild pets are bantha fodder to wild pets were a fully trained bio pet can easily stomp ANY wild pet out there (Verified by my lvl 70 Vir vur Nibbler). This is why elite pets need to be restored otherwise what perk does the CH get for taming these new rare line of creatures when the only perk they get isthe pride of taming a trophy pet. Before the CU it was justifiable as creatures like the Bull Rancor had an awsome special which made it worth the time and patience tofind. Now there is nothing special about getting such creatures besides thepride of having them and think this needs to change.
Something needs to be done to make Wild pets just as viable as bio pets and feel the restoration of the Elites would be an easy way to do that.

I agree, having certain creatures that are significantly more-powerful than others of their level is unrealistic. Yeah, I was one of the legion that went out and tamed a trio of female narglatches. They served me well in the first weeks of my Padawan grind, and got me over the initial hump before visibility was removed from group grinding. But I agree that the new system sounds far preferable.
Still, I find myself reminiscing over the thrill I felt venturing into a nest of venomous creatures. That old poison tic just had the sort of insane, "OMFG!!" quality to it that inspired real goosebumps when my toon was afflicted with it.
Same with my first experience with the bite of a bull rancor. I'd ventured onto Dathomir for my first attempt at soloing a rancor lair, and somewhat unwisely selected a bull rancor lair as my first target. Well, I killed the lair... but I picked up the disease. And it ticked. Once. Twice. Again. I thought, "heh, not that big a deal." But it persisted. And persisted. Finally, after several minutes of this,I saw that ten percent of my Health bar had gone black. I though, "Holy cow! I better go get this taken care of...." and so off I went to Coronet.
That qualityis what is absent from the game now.
I'll tell you something that MUST happen...
If you tame one of the rares, it had better have an inate special, guaranteed.

YesI know that thestance on elite pets from the developers such as Keldarin is now the norm and that elites are no more
It is my hope that something can be done to re-institute something unique for wild pets that would make them desirable compared to theirbio cousins. Currently I cant keep making pets fast enough as my best bio pets with 8k ham/ over 750 regen/ over 160 defense/ and dmg over 400 is better then anything anyone can get with wild pets. Something needs to be done so that wild pets still have an edge that creature handlers need to make wild petsmore then just a trophy pet.
I still think creatures like Great Plains Stalker should be among the best of the wild pets due to difficulty in finding.
