Seriously, don't let people like this bother you. I put them in the same boat as those who simply say, "Why would I want that? I could have a better Rancor made by a BE." These are probably also people who seetheir pets solely as meatshields. The worst kind of MCH IMHO.

Pem, these are well considered words.

Those who view their pets exclusively as meatshields are, as you indicated, the worst kind of CHs. Those who view their creatures as expendable. Who dismiss a vitality hit with a shrug and say that they'll just go out and get another meatshield, destroy the "damaged" creature and find another disposable animal.

This is supposed to be an MMORPG. This means that you're supposed to get into it and not be utiliarian about everything. The fun in this game is playing the roles. I've run into a number of players who just can't seem to do that; can't get into it for the role playing aspect, and they've become bitter, dissillusioned, and frankly somewhat destructive to those around them. It's all about leveling; all about getting the loot; all about having an uber template.

Those who berate others for naming pets have it all bass ackwards in my opinon. People who run around with unnamed pets frankly disquiet me. The fun is in finding a good name for the pet, taking some pride in it, enjoying its company. Watching my dewback fight is one of the joys in this game. The anmiations are great; the vocalizations are delightful. You can lose yourself in the emmersion with this sort of thing. Even though realistically every pet on my datapad is nothing but lines of code, they come alive to me and make this silly game worth playing.

Congratulations on your bull rancor. Those who don't realize you can /examine a pet to determine its species have no business being an MCH.

Pem you hit the nail on the head with this one well worded , we are TRUE master ch becuase we have pets for other reasons then meatshields ... i got pets i never fight with just becuase i love them dearly , they are a companion to me in the game .... i thank you all for your comments and help with this situation

i'm thinking they're just jealous...... i love naming my pets, i hate seeing "a kaadu" or "a piket (baby)"

that's just lazy if you ask me.... it doesn't take THAT much longer to name your pets

as for the mantigrue, it's a flyer on endor.... some of them are pretty nasty...... being a bio-engineer, i tried sampling one and it used it's special attack, plague strike, with incapped me twice and gave me 899 in wounds (down to 1health) in about 30 seconds (not even exaggerating)

these are nasty critters with some nice resists, armor and they fly....... also that special attack does not clone for BE's (as i sadly found out later), so the only way to take advantage of these beasties is to tame them in the wild

I agree with most of these posts so far. Even though I one of the CHs thats either too lazy or unimaginative to name my pets my opinion is its your pet and you can name itwhatever you want. I haven't seen anyone crying about namedextinct pets why should anyone care about rares with names.

On the subject of naming pets...i've named almost all my pets and love em all. I still have the first Grand wrix i got...beat up as heck, but i cant let it go. Yeah, i have some pets for tanking as i'm usually off by myself somewheres taking on some nasty critters...but i get extremely ticked off everytime it gets incap's or even db'd. And itpains me to let pets go because i dont have enough space in my datapad.

The issue was on naming a rare pet. My feeling is that most collectors like to keep the '(baby)' in the title. The comments that he's gotten from a couple of ppl on the auction thread he startedseems to reflects this, although whether this is a mojority or opinion or minority, i really couldnt say. But to me, renaming a rare islike winning the gold medal ...then painting it bronze just because you like that color better. For myself, if i'm able to get 2...then i'll rename one of em. I waited before i got my second screecher before i renamed the first i got.

Yeah all CH's want one, I dont believe it has anything to do with jelousy. It's a preference...some like to keep the original title..some dont. Would i have tried to buy it if it had the '(baby)'name?...probably...butI do want the chance to go out and tame my own (even if my head implodes in the process). I went crazy for about 2 months before i finally got my widow baby, and just like my screecher, i'll wait fora second one before i give it a name. And I'll probably go just as nuts going after that great plains stalker.

As i said...this is just my opinion. To each, their own....

To me that's just silly, I'd be more likely to make fun of the guy with a "Bull Rancor (baby)". Why go to all that trouble and then not name it?

I agree with the other posters. I name all of my pets I decide to keep. I have been away for a while and have yet to master my ch, but I know with some hard work I will get there.

My pets:

Sting -Grand Wrix

Babe -Kursk Matron

Fambino -Fambasa

Hotdog -Mountain Dewback (my son named him)

Buzzard -Giant Carrion Spat

Tippe -Female Plains Cat

Tabbe -Female Plains Cat

I may have got the speices wrong, doing it off the top of my head. But anyways to me naming a pet is a sign of creativity and an active mind. Anyone can lug around thier "a bull rancer" or whatever. To most of those people ch is just a tag or status symbol. You can tell who the real ch are because they care enough about thier pets to name them instead of toting them around with no name to show off.

Ok, first off, pay absolutely no attention to those f^&ktards. *sniff sniff*Is that jealousy I smell?!! LOL! Good one on the tame by the way.

Secondly, who the hell cares what anyone does with their own pets, rare or otherwise. If YOU spent the time to go track down and tame a Bull Rancor than that gives YOU the right to name, not name it, release it, get it to do tricks until you fall over with lack of mind pool, etc, etc. Its your pet so do what you want with it, that is pretty much the bottem line.

Screw 'em! I name all my pets. I've even named pets that I've caught and trained for others to avoid some of the silly names people tack on to the poor beasts. Since I do this for free, I get no complaints.

Lol, thats kind of a sad but funny story...sad because of those guys putting you down for naming your pet...hey I tamed probably one of the VERY first Arachne webmasters on my server way back in the day when they were uber, but 3 gurrecks were even more uberer...and I named him spidey...now why would i be a newb who went out alone in the wilds of endor a place I had never been and braved his buddies and got spidey...now come on i was only 2 0 0 0 (wookiee) and had DF 1 in smuggler...made it easier for the taming but dang I was young and scared...any way my point is... YOU tamed it you shoudl be able to name it without persecution. He is your pet if they can't examine him to see what kind of creature he is then thats their fault...I commend you for braving those fools.

MCH FOR LIFE!!...

P.S. BULL RANCORS ARE TAMABLE lol ok i gotta find one =)
