Thread: What is the freakin hold up on patching/fixing CH?
Hazer while you may say this is true the opposite is also true
How mature was it to toss this game into turmoil and reduce it to beta while customers pay to test and put up with a broken game?
While you pointout at customers to be patient you may also want to speak to the powers that be to be patient and wait next time before they place this undo mess apon its customers.
People have a right to complain after all thats happened. It may be a video game but it is also a service people pay for that is not being provided properly.
Jope all the respect for you man, but I saw the last few days on testcenter. Players had pretty much abandoned testing the product. I remember getting just MCH. The devs wanted to test that level of combat, and I spent thirty minutes looking for a non level 80 player.
We should be very cognicent that the devs are reactive to stimuli. If the playership is showing a decline. They must react to stop it. If putting the CU in increases influx of players because of the upcomeing movie. Then its a good idea for them to push for it to come out sooner.
I heard the same stuff when the game came out about it not being ready and people blameing sony, but it really was not sonys fault or the devs that time. They wanted to keep the developement going a bit longer. Yeah I know do not beleive me. What triggered that early release was the preorder people getting snitty and pulling preorders. Infact the CU did the exact same thing. There was still a week or more till it was supposed to come out and boom it was out.
Just pointing out that there are pressures the players are not necassarily aware of.

The holdup and god I am going to get smacked for this is the following.
Look at the game and realize the following. CH uses creatures or player owned npcs. These npcs are directly based of their wild counterparts. From their skins, and hams to the AI. In other words a creature is far more complex then say a gun. You have issues with traceing animations and now add in creature levels. Now you start to see that our pets are a huge bit of programming. So I am not shocked the devs are takeing a great deal of time on it. If they do badly at creating balanced npcs. They will get eaten alive by all the other player classes.
Now the devs have a choice do a thorough debugging on the creatures in the game. Which do not kid yourself they have to do, or fix alot of smaller problems faster. Afterall everyone thinks their personal issues should be number one on the devs agenda. We have also might I point out gotten a number of little tweeks since the CU. Just like everyother profession. The devs did a fix on the tameing not too long ago.
The holdup is that the devs probabally cannot address alot of these issues before they fix alot of bugs. Moves not working. Some being overly strong or weak. Once they get a handle on that then they can properly test creatures against players. Then they can test more thoroughly how creatures apply states, and how ranged attacks and how armor rateings should be applied. Whether creatures should have mitigations of their own.
I agree its takeing forever, and am not excuseing the devs, but CH cannot be properly overhauled until the devs balance the npc mobs in the game. Thats the real problem not that the pets suck, but that the creatures throughout the game need a thorough working over, but I would suppose doing that last would be better then doing it today eraseing it three days from now and doing it again two days after that.
Right now npcs have issues with not properly applying ranged attacks. Not applying states or applying far too many states, and so on and so forth. Not trying to excuse them, but I find it hard to see how ch could not have ended up near the tail end. For no other reason other then efficency. After all our class combines with the creatures in the wild and how hard they will be to fight.
*breaks down bawling*
I don't even care that this game is so buggy that many professions are ticked off (CH being I think one of the more bugged ones due to the level thing screwing it royally).
I just want to atleast beable to get CH xp!!!! I'm novice, and it's going to stay that way until they fix that stupid xp cap (which btw I can't believe they over looked the minor detail of changing caps when DUH they changed how much xp was required for many boxes after novice, and even novice).
It's sad, I almost feel this game is a joke at this point, and I think many agree. They are using us as the guinea pigs to find their bugs and give us no attention or due respect. The servers go down and stay down and they do squat to reimburst people. Not only that but CH is going to stay sh*ty for a while I'm guessing by how detailed and interwoven into other complicated programming it is (our pets based off of wild ones & so on). Which means us CH are going to be handicapped and tortured for a while, which doesn't seem right.
But just fix the freakin xp cap!!!! PLEASE!
Do.
I fully understand the pressure, the lack of people actively testing etc.
However forceing people to test it out by placeing a not ready for prime time product is Unacceptable.
If you have a cell phone and you keep hitting dead areas, what do you do. You complain, what does the company do if you have enough time with them and enough complaints, Offers you some sort of freebie.
extra services at no charge, More min per month, 1 free month. Something like that.
What has SOE offered:
Hang in there we are working on it.
That is my main problem. People like me who had 2 accounts and played since the game came out just get a "thanks for your patience" That is why I canceled Talon. I couldn't see the point of renewing 2 accounts when 1 was a crafter and 1 combat when they yanked crafting from me. To tell you the truth they screwed Doc so bad I canceled this one, but it isn't up till august.
They need to offer something to the veterians. 1 month free for every 6 months or something like that. Seriously how much money would they lose? Maybe the people that canceled accounts would keep playing those free months and actually resubscribe once some of the major issues were fixed, in which case they would gain money back.
They did it a while ago, 1 month for canceled accounts to log in and see all the new stuff. I think it's time they give it a gamble again to the current accounts as a way to say "thank you for your loyalty".

Yep except one thing instead of trying to even say thanks they decided to spend 2 days making some fancy droids and artwork.
when will they reliaze that after 2 years bribes dont work no more?
Exactly Corpusblit and ImpCaptainNelin.. Silly ingame soveniers aren't going to do it when you've abused your users so much.
I'd be a lot less likely to leave the game in a few weeks if they gave me some insentive. But maybe they don't care 'cuz they feel they'll get a lot of new people here in a few weeks that will put up with some of the bugs. Because they don't know how SOE will use them to the brink of quiting.

Shortsighted and, ultimately, disastrous. You tick off your paying customers by pushing shoddy product on them, and the 'new players' you draw in see the product for what it is and drop it like a rotten potato.
Typical shortsighted management approach that has epitomized this product, though.

Well said Dodece
Fixes ARE comming. There is no possible way, by any strech of the imagination that the current state of CH is by any means the way it is going to reamain.
Allot of hate has been spilled on these boardslately and it has served to illuminate one very important thing for me...
If the fiber of your emotional being is so fragile that you can't cope with a change in a VIDEO GAME, then your problems run a little deeper than the loss of a few skills or the nerfing of a gun (or pet) or two.
There is nothing in any anti-CU post that hasnt been said already...WE GET IT!! For that matter there is nothing in any Anti-ANTI-cu post (Like this one) that hasnt been said as well...DO YOU GET IT?!?!
How many of you Fine CH's out there spent hours or days or weeks or MONTHS searching for that special rare critter *cough* Bull Rancor....
It was time consuming.
No biggie there. Every second of every day that passes is one that we are never getting back, its gone forever. Everyone is a victim of the consumption of time, no special talents required there.
It took patience.
HERE is where the formula gets people! Patience during the hunt is where the big payoff is. I can remember how good it felt to finally snag my 2nd GPS after weeks of not seeing a single one.
Whats the point here you may ask?
Think of the CH profession that runs smoothly with few (or even no) bugs as that oh-so elusive prey.
NOW think of yourself as a grown-up...mature enough to have the patience to hunt that prey.
There is an old proverb that goes something like this:
In the forest, the wolf worries about the hunter...NOT with the scratching of fleas.
Time to STOP scratching my brothers and sisters!!
LOLOLOL, you have some brown on your nose dude.
You must be tired of saying things like this for the past 2 YEARS!
lol, the fixes are coming LOL my goodness! What a maroon!
