What they have done is removed CH as a combat option for the crafting merchant. Spend all your points on artisan and an elite crafting profession with a little in merchant. Take scout for terraine so you can run to those harvesters and maybe mask scent and the ability to harvest animal resources. The obvious combat option would be creature handler since the pre-reqs are already taken. So, pets become this player's primary weapon.

Along comes patch 20 -

This player runs to his/her harvesters to find it surrounded by dragonets. Ah, no worries. Pets to the rescue. They always been able to save this player in the past. Send in the pets and the dragonets gank the crafter. Instant trip to the cloners.

This player dusts themselves off andruns to a mission to get some reptilian meat. No worries. They're only squills. The pets easily take out the three squills at the lair. YAY. Now sic the pets on the lair to get the next group. What's this? The pet won't stop attacking the lair. A mass mob of squills pop out and run directly at the player sending him/her back to the cloners.

This player dusts themselves off, surrenders CH and takes up rifles. End of story.

This is not an arbitrary case mind you. For the mass majority of my game experience I was a BE/CH with enough artisan to run a vendor. That's all I had to work with was pets and I enjoyed it. That option is gone now.

LOL! That must be my problem, I'm MRM/MCH, but only have enough skill points for Novice CM. Comes in handy when I have to heal myself of all the aggro damage though.
