Generally, I had no problem with most of what Publish 20 offers. I don't mind having to be within aggro range of a creature to have my pet attack, but just because I'm in aggro range, or even outside aggro range, THERE'S NO DAMN REASON TO HAVE EVERY CREATURE ATTACK ME! I mean, c'mon! I was useingme CL70 Bol and kept getting owned by a 3 pack of varactyl! Does the "everything target's the controler idioticly" happen when you attack everything or just creatures that don't spawn in a lair? I thought this was only supposed to occure if you attacked the lair when there was a spawned creature out, buteven then only the creature(s) being used to attack should be the one(s) targeted. Who the hell called the shots on this idiocy?

Can anybody tell me if useing ranged/close weapons produces this same effect? Hell, we might as well be useing multi-target weapons if our pets are gonna do this!

It's useless to me since I'm a BE/CH, but, if attacking acreature with a ranged weapon doesn't aggro the hole lot of them, would a pet that's guarding you not cause the group to aggro?

Its an AI thing they made or changed. If you read the notes of pub 20 you would see it under the"AI" section

Something that I have found to work, though haven't fully tested it with high level lairs, is to pull one creature with a low damage weapon special then attack with the pet when they are pulled clear of the lair area. You still have to wait and watch the movement of the creatures until you can pull one that has wandered free a little bit. But I was pulling with a rifle and whatever the BH 0/0/2/0 special is (some kinda dizzy shot low damage). The damage from the rifle pull was low enough that the creature got aggro instantly upon engaging the MoB. I suppose you could even just carry a low damage rifle with good range too. You don't need to do damage, just aggro them. And keep auto attack off when doing it

It's not a perfect method....but it worked for me last night, and even the night before when testing pre-patch pulling methods.

I agree, it was a boning.

Usualy I'm happy about game changes, and reading the pub 20 notes I liked what I saw. I felt the pet pulling thing was a bug and needed fixing. But clearly this was all kinds of bad news for us, and went far beyond fixing what was broken and ended up swinging the pendulum such that it feels more buggy that it was to begin with.

I'll be able to work arond this nonsense but I truly hope they see it as a mistake and make some corrections like they did with the last patch. Time to do some moreSpace Missions, while hoping they sort this nonsense out.

I totally agree. We have been boned into nothingness!

I've been wondering if the guard command is going to aggro everything now, too.

Frankly, I haven't been using it since I couldn't call my pet off of anything it did protect me from, but this takes it from being mostly useless to suicidal. (Three commands made useless or detrimental in one patch. Is that a record?)

nah the record is probably publish 19 that created cl 1(0) pets. Wiped out ALL the CH commands and the entire 106 pt skill tree.

I can understand NPC's... but how is a piket going to know that I'm controlling the pet? Also bugges me when a creature attacks the ehaler, how the *** does it know to take out the medic?

The first mistake the DEV's made was by classifying CH with the other combat groups. CH should, by no means, suffer the same ruleset as grouped players.

Right, especially now... This sounds like in other MMOs.. I mean think about it.. creatures in other MMOs are more like support and arn't realy told what to do, look at guild wars, you fight everything and your pet just attacks what you do, but the things don't attack your pet.. they attack you.. all of em. It is really anoying and In that game at least a ranger can handle themselves.. not all CH have another combat profession, so when they get gang banged.. they can fight it off. CH keeps getting worse and worse, and even if this did fix anything, I still think it made us as a whole, worse. Now being a CH and a non Combat Profession is probably on the same scale as being a Dentist and a Candy Manufacturer.

I have no problem with creatures creating aggro from nearby enemies, but why would they run to you? Wouldn't it make much more sense for them to attack your pet instead? Seeing as its the pet that's causing it. I think creatures and NPC's should rather assist their comrades in defending rather than ignoring the poor bugger being attacked and head off to fight something else.

Logic is not used by game mechanics unless it also serves to hinder the players or make the gameplay 'unfun'.
