Thread: How attached are you to your pets?

My pets and I are like pack mates more than master and servant. I'm definitely the Alpha Wolf, but if they go down I almost always follow them because I fight right in the thick of it with my boys. No standing 60 meters off with a blaster for this Zabrak!

Do you get upset when they die? Do you use them at their mercy going into battle because they are just meat shields anyway? Do you protect THEM?

Personaly I like to use mine as a tag along. I try to keepher safe but I do useher as a lifeline but then I ALWAYS feel guilty and have to go save her from the clutches of the enemy.

And yes I feel sad when she dies gets incapped instead of me. Especially if something chases her off my screen and I can't find my poor bol so I search frantically for her. lol

I haven't had a pet long enough to say i really have become attacked to one yet. I'm sure it will happen, but so far my cowwardly gurrek, Gruff, is my XP pet, and he is on his last leg, and i have a few others I recently got but haven't had much time to play with them. I do have a Fav pet though, hes my Vir Vir of Death. He was a gift from a guildie so that might make him so special to me.

It broke my heart the other day when I lost vitality on one of my girls. I haven't lost vitality on a pet in a very long time.

What she said. Right down to the hurt when one of my Razorcats got a 2pt hit to his Vitality while killing (large team not solo ) Peko Peko albatrosses.
Then again I must have cloned at least 8 times that hunt as did many of the rest of the team. Stupid bird even went out of its way to destroy my bike.

We're a team and have that musketeer mentality, " all for one and one for all" going on. Doesn't matter that they're pets, They're in game family. I took them from mom and raised em, well most of them anyway. How could I treat them any other way.

I am so attached to my pets you cannot imagine!! I am alo a doctor so I make sure my pet is healed and any other pet I may be near or hunting with...I absolutely cannot stand it when they get incapped. Like many others I would rather be incapped myself than have my pet go down. They protect me and they hunt for me...I have no marksman skills

I always carry vitality packs just in case something happens. But I would have a very tough time parting with my beloved GSP's.

Call me crazy

I still have my very first pet, a Cowardly Gurrek named Odin that i got a LONG time ago. I kept him even after the non-ch lvl was lowered to 10. Now that im a master he is still with me. Odin serves no purpose but i cant destroy that cat for some reason.

There are two factors here.

1) I am very attached to my pets in the sense that they are very valuable to me and I am very protective of them. I do not send them into a situation where they are going to die.

But.........

2) I am always looking for a better pet, and when I find one, then someone has to go. In the fiction of the game, this works OK for me, because I release them back into the wild, and they go on with their happy little lives.

Having said all that (and I am sure that a great many of you do not want to hear this), I am still in favor of permadeath for ALL pets.

Nope, not in favor.

I still suggest that those who are enamored with this idea practice what they preach, and reroll their toon upon being DBd.

Im happy with my pet when i tame it, then i hate it within a day. I have to say only persuing the Ch profession for Jedi, and ive done 19 professions, so i hope it unlocks pretty darn soon. Also i hate the Ch profession, and restrictions of where you can call your pet.

Greetings,

My dear pets are like my children. (if I had any :smileyvery-happy They obey me well, but I am a bit overprotective and never send them intoa situation where they are gonna get toasted. Kind of a trust thing I guess.

Last night, a friend and I were doing Blurrg missions for "easy" money. Well, we get to the first lair and I send out my BE Angler (Silk) to aggro the two beasties and bring them back so we can finish them off. The old pet fetch routine. The pets get the exercise and I feel like I get to save them. This tactic is especially useful when searching for rare babies.

The lair is at just under 128m. From experience I know there should only be two Blurrgs. I can only see one. (Silk) charges out to attack him at my direction, engages, and returns. He follows as well as another yellow dot (the other Blurrg). However, I notice a red dot heading towards us as well. I tab through and see it is a Blurrg Raptor on the assist. Oh CRAP! I thought, okaywe have about 90K worth of creatures here. She's got 60% kinetic, light armor and is at a full 11600.. Now if I can only stay alive long enough to keep her healed. I had just powerboosted and immediately took some muon. I was gonna need it.

I focus her attention on the Raptor, and we take the two Blurrgs out to minimize potential damage. Just as we have taken care of them, a small group of Blurrg Hunters spawns right next to us. So we take care of them and I am popping stim packs into (Silk) like never before. Now that all the other issues had been taken care of, I begin using my Teras Kasi skills against the Raptor. I can use specials from father awa, so i usually don't need to get too close. But, even with the muon, I was getting low on mind and had to conserve, I had to get within 4m, which is just about the preferred attack range of my pet. I try to avoid putting the Ubese on unless I really have to. My mind regenerates so much quicker this way.

I was able to avoid the Raptor's attention, and we finished it off before the next wave of Blurrg Hunters appeared. Despite all my efforts, (Silk)'s HAMwas down to about a quarter. It had been down much lower. I just kept thinking tto myself, "I almost lost her." My heart was pounding. My hands were shaking.I apologized, petted, fed,and healed her. "You'resafe now.You can relax." I would have fallen myself before letting her die, but an incapped person cannot heal others, regardless of how much mind you have left. That was my main concern through the whole ordeal.

Good Luck to All,

Attached? Not strong enough word...BONDED is more like it. I got tired of standing on the side and watching my pet take damage, so I took up swordsman to get in there and protect THEM rather than them protecting me so they wouldn't be hurt. I've only let one pet get a vitality hit since the vitality was introduced, and that was during the bugged time when they would get incapped, get up and fight, get incapped, over and over. That was only 8 points but it wrecked my playing day and I had to log I was so depressed. I regularly spend hours fishing just to get enough fish meat to get good pet stim-Ds made to keep them healed and I also lug around crates of pet treats to keep them fed.

I will admit that if I come across a newer and better pet I willmake some tough choices to make room for it, but it really has to put a pet I currently have to shame for me to release one (and that's pretty rare). Not to mention the7 BE pets I have standing around my house at home and9 others kept in a cage (ok, it's a cargo pocket that's renamed LOL) that I bought because they were cool or had great stats/specials and just can't bring myself to delete/releasea current pet for.
