Thread: Poll: Who WASN'T here before The Nerf?
I've been playing since March '04, and I've been a CH since April. I'm currently 1-3-1-1.
I read the CH forums before choosing the profession, so I already knew about the nerf. And the many bugs that frustrate the class. But I still saw enough benefits to the class to want to try it anyway.
CH fits my style of play and my personality. I don't play consistenty and usually for only a couple hours at a time, so joining groups is not always an option. I often don't know if I'll be able to stick aroundlong enough to help out a group or even to make it worth spending credits on a buff.
The petsmake soloing more interesting for me. They add a sense of companionship when I am wandering around the countryside.
Since I play mostly solo and unbuffed, the pets help a lot. They are essentially buffs with feet. When I get caught sniping at mobs, my pets have saved my hairy Bothan butt more times than I can count. I don't expect them to be able to bring down mobs for me. As a novice rifleman, I can deal pretty good damage already. The pets just need to keep the mobs busy. This way my pet and I are really a team.
Also, in real life I'm a "pet person," so it feels natural to be working with animals in the game. I wonder how often this is true of CHs. Are some of us drawn to this profession because of our personalities? And does this make us stick with it even though there are more uber templates to play the game with? My one beef here is that I'm decidedly a dog-person, and I can't find any truly powerful canine pets. I'm stuck working with cats! ![]()

Hurrton stalkers and BE'd hurrtons. Ugly little mutts, but hey, that's what you get for not appreciating the regal stature of a crimson razor cat.
But I was optimistic, becasuse this was just phase one of the combat balance. ( HA AHA HAHAHAA) So I bought a BE Rancor for $50k in hopes some day to be able to tame it. It was a great house decoration from December until February, when I fianlly hit 442or34 and was able to tame it. YEAH!!!! But of coarse it was one of those 1(0) invalid pets that is semi ilegal... great huh.
But I am still hoping they get the stinking combat balance done without rebalancing us. And they change the PVP pet rules of with vitality loss but the damadge must be equivalent to player PVP rules.
And have no plans of leaving CH (at least not til after our NERF OF DEATH combat reblance) so I became a BE and am making my very own friggin awsome pets. (Only have made a few truley awsome pets but have many decent ones on my vendor)
I picked up CH about six weeks ago and mastered early last week. I am having lots of fun as a MCH too, and plan on keeping it as part of my template for a long time.
I had heard about the nerf before I picked up CH. This had no bearing on my decision to pick up CH as I like playing pet classes, I am not overly wrapped up in PvP which seems to be where the nerf hit hardest, and it fits my play style.
Its a shame, as Im very much a "pet person" IRL, however Im one of those unlucky buggers whos allergic to anything with fur or feathers, so I cant spend more than 10 or 15 minutes with an animal before I become exceedingly uncomfortable
Whereas here I can have all the pets I want, hehe. Oh, and to your problem with canine pets, go to your local BE and have him whip you up a nice Kusak, they look like a terrier cross with a slightly odd mouth, and have a cool bark when you issue commands

Did MCH 2 or 3 weeks ago.
Why ? Because i just wanted to do something completely different........
And atm im really satisfied with it. I can solo Krayts as log as it is not an ancient (Master Rifleman is my 2nd) and nearly everything else in the game i found yet.
It sucks in PvP, but thats not a problem for me because i rarely do PvP. I thinkthe whole system is **edit**ed up. Besides that there are only a few professions which are usefull in PvP. So thats not an CH only problem.
Relying on BEs for usefull pets is nothing to moan about in my opinion. As a rifleman i need a WS making me my guns, so no big deal.
But taming some critters and raising them is still fun, even when im not going to use hem when it counts (in the graveyard for example)
Not shure that im keeping CH forever (sometimes everything gets boring) but atm im not planning to drop it.
