As GMAN said, theyhave vitalitybecause originally they had perma-death which was deemed completely unpalatable to the CH community after Release. I'm not a big fan of decay myself, but it's way better than the original system.

I think the trick would be understanding when to use vitality packs.... I will kill a BE pet some time this week and report back what happened at 90/100 75/99, and after that not sure what second number will be, but I have a bunch of 34 Vit packs so I will try I guess a full 34 after that, after that I know it's detremental to pet.

Last night I gave one to a guy before I knew it was a 1/0 Brackaset and it changed 86/92 to 91/91. Wish Fuzz Luck...ha haha ah aha He will need it. I think I will take him Enraged hunting with me... (lvl 29 Vir Vir) Actually he could probably take one.... but not three. (not really armor droped in last combine )

I moved to Corellia I have no vendor and I don't know the coords to my house, but it doesn't really matter cause all my pets are in the tool box, I may have some in space, but that doesn't really concern you either.

Really, why do they slowly rot away? 100/100, 99/99, 98/98, and so on. All that it accomplishes is me signing out in a bad mood and ready to drop the profession. I don't see any reason for this to work this way. If it's to increase bio-engineer business then at least make it go back to 100/100. I will not be deleting any of my pets no matter how low their vitality gets.

This is a game, why does it have to be so damn frustrating? >.<

If you can't tell one of my pets was killed and I am venting. I am still curious as to why they have to decay like this; it's not fun and accomplishes nothing from what I can see, other then making me a neurotic mess.

In SWG, items in general decay. With crafted items it makes sense, you need to keep the crafters alive; with looted items and rare items (tamed pets included) it's just stupid, since you have to deal with the fact that no matter what you do, no matter what you find, everything you ever accomplish in this game will eventually be dust.

Don't even ask me why SOE went on this path. Definitely not the brightest moment of the game.

honestly the 75 mark is the magic number... don't let your pet hit that, otherwise there will be a perminant loss to their effictivity... wait till they are 78/100 then use a vatality pack... it'll bring you back up to 99/99 vitality... keep doing this until they get to about 78/78... i'm too lazy to count the number of deaths that is (math hurts my head)...

i have yet to use a vitality pack on any pets... and i used a pair for krayt hunting for about 3 months... their vitality are 94/100 and 96/100 respectivily... that with just me and my pets...

the only pet i ever had a vitality problem with was a GSP that went from baby to adult in one day... every incap of him was a vit loss... no matter what the mob was... i did this as a test for someone a long time ago, who noticed the same issues...

personally i don't mind the vit loss, if you are careless then you should pay for it... yes the game has bugs, but you are givin more than enough vit points to make up for it... its was better than the permadeath that there used to be...

I can just see a "Wait for the Combat Revamp" and "Wait for the Smuggler Revamp" quote all rolled into one.
"Wait for the Smuggbat Revamp"
Smuggbat, I like that

Well, I'm going to take a very strange position and say that I want pet vitality loss in the game (other than that caused by bugs). Bear with me. I didn't say Ilike having my pets lose vitality. That really, reallygets to me. But I think that having the possibility that they can lose vitality makes the game better. Heres why.

- Makes the game more challenging and therefore more interesting. There has to be risk - the greater the risk, the greater the reward sort of thing. Which would be more exciting? White water rafting down the snake river or playing with your rubby duck in the bathtub? (All you dirty minds out there, I know what you're thinking. Stop that!). If there were no risk to my pets, I'd just find some krayt dragon and keep throwing all my pets at it while I stood out of attack range. There would be no reason to do anything else. I over simplify but the point is that that would be boring as hell. (Not that I know how boring hell is).

- Requires me to use strategy, have a plan of attack, so that my pets don't decay.

- It's a question of balance in the game. Yeah, yeah, I know, we've already been so "balanced" that it's ridiculous. The fact of the matter is, though, every other weapon in the game decays. And, yes, if you use your pet as a weapon, it's a weapon. (Even if you don't use it as a weapon, it still has that potential). The difference between our "weapon" and every other weapon is that our pets don't decay from use. If we're careful, we will always have our pets. I've had my grand wrix for over a year now, and I use it alot (in combo with my CL45 pets). It's still at 96/96. I've had my boar wolf for several months and use it even more than my GW, and it's still at 98/98.

- The main reason, though, is that it makes CH more interesting, more realistic, more fun to role play. Maybe the most unique aspect of our profession (maybe the game in general) is our pets and how we get "attached" to them. I think part of that comes from knowing that if we don't take care of our pets, if we don't watch out for them, they can "die". And knowing that they can "die" is one of the things (primary thing, imho) that makes our pets seem so alive. We're companions. I feel like not only our my pets protecting me, but I'm protecting them. If they couldn't "die",they'd just be another inanimate object that happened to move around.

I COULD NOT HAVE PUT THIS ANY BETTER!

I am a returning MCH and I have NEVER had a Bio pet and I'm honestly not sure if I ever will. I agree there are some awesome BE pets out there but I dont know if I'll ever own one.
