Thread: Why do pets permanently decay?

The reason for pet vitality decreasing is simple. Sooner or later you need to buy a new BE-pet which makes BEs earn money again. This is simply a business keep-alive issue. You could also ask why weapons decay? Who likes to spend 1.5 mill for a krayt flamer and knowing in a few months it will be be decayed to uselessness? That's maybe the biggest hurdle to jump over in this game, at least for me.
You do not name a weapon, a weapon does not beg to be played with, and a weapon does not tell you it's hungry. If I had to pay a BE 100k credits to bring my pets vitality back up a few points I would. It's not economics, it's grief. I would gladly pay money to repair my pets back to 100/100 out of principle, but I don't have that option and it is frustrating.

Go out in the wild and tame your pets!
If you then have an eye on 'em and be careful that they dont die, they wont decay

As GMAN said, theyhave vitalitybecause originally they had perma-death which was deemed completely unpalatable to the CH community after Release. I'm not a big fan of decay myself, but it's way better than the original system.
Any chance there will be something better in the future, something that isn't permanent?
As it is you really have to abuse or use the same pets on a daily basis for 6-12 months to get to 80/80 vitality. From an economic stand point Bio-Engineers don't make money off vitality packs. From a game play stand point it's frustrating knowing that no matter what you do you can not really take care of your own pets.
I really hope Bio-Engineers are allowed to rejuvenate pets, possibly by making a tissue that uses DNA that has stats, resist/HAM around the same as your current pet. Selling a rejuvenating tissue would be the equivalent of selling a new pet. This way a Bio-Engineer could make the same amount of money vs. effort and the pet owner can keep their current pet and actually take care of their pet instead of watching it wither away.
I think that would be a much better solution for both sides.
