Owen made a post a week or so ago indicating the Devs are planning on fixing the examine function. Hopefully this is sooner rather than later.

I think its safe to say the guys making these quests have zero clue about Star Wars and are just doing what they are told. Pretty sad really.

Well it may not be the devs' fault. I'm sure they have bosses just like we do.. and were told something to the effect of "Give us a blend of EQ2, WoW, and Lineage 2 *cash signs for eyes*" And presto-chango! That or they don't have bosses like us and are more akin to chimpanzees just chained to a chair for just a bit too long.

But on a more serious note, the orb you get from that mystic is handy... because it's a lot nicer than walking through all those lvl 75-77 bugs to get out of the cavern... especially if a guildie needs you somewhere other than Kashyyyk ASAP... Why no elevator or something more sci-fi? You got me there.

So, you got the reward from that quest? Can I get a screenshot maybe of what that looks like? Is it tech related like a mechanical device or just some mystical glowing orb that moves you there?

It's a Krayt Pearl essentially.
Rename Mystical Stone or something...

It is handy though

Another hotfix comes and goes.

Mission fix

Kashyyyk Droid fix

Where's Ranger stuff? They haven't even started on it yet, knowing what I do about them.

Thanx Owen.

I really miss examine. I would tell people what not to use.

Yeah i know what you mean mate. I loved the intel gathering aspecs to the profession that arose from using examine with creature knowledge even if it only means we could tell them the damage ranges and specials.

In the ranger revamp i was hoping the intel gathering skills could be fleshed out to include full on debuffs and enhancements to combat. I can remember talking about this with Irott, the SL corrover in the corr boards and he was in total agreement. Rangers and SLs should both provide group wide enhancments and bring something substantial to groups,SLs from tactics and leadership and Rangers from survival andscouting (not in a profession sense but a combat role sense). Intel gathering would be a very justified way of providing combat bonuses to your group for rangers then through knowledge of tactics, leadership and organisation for SLs.

I realy want to stop here because i know ill end up going on to write something big and to be honest i dont have the time. Essentially im excited to see what happens with the intel gathering aspecs to the profession.

Examine was the basis of the "science" of our profession, particularly for rifle-people. In the "old days", I'd find some creatures and examine them, decided if they had what I wanted, then checked their resists. Then I'd choose out of the (at least) seven different rifles I carried, which was the best tool for the job, then get to work!

Thing is now, we've got at best three types of damage (energy, kinetic, electrical). So that type of study/recon has been dumbed down, so examine isn't as essential now when you think about it. You've only got to pick one out of three of the best damage type to use, rather than one out of eight.

I didn't use buffs or uber armour, so why did the combat revamp have to spoil my game?

That is assuming you were a rifleman. Most other professions never had that range in the first place so it's just been spread out between the professions.

As for skills for ranger, i think pointing out a targets weaknesses is a great way to apply a debuff or group enhancment. Also you could have skills that modify the targets combat effectiveness.

I like the idea of rangers being master crowd controllers which goes hand in hand with survival. Aswel as recieving various general ranged and melee accuracy/speed bonuses a ranger should also recieve a vast range of skills and abilities that CC and DD the targets.

I would like a Ranger only type of weapon like most of the others have.A shotgun/hunting rifle, Pistol and carbine along the same lines. I'm an old Ranger from a long long time ago that respeced back to it and glad I did. Shame the profession still hasn't gotten the love it deserves

I'd think that we should have one ranged weapon and one melee weapon, so that we don't alienate any Rangers.
