Thread: Examine

I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. Whatdoes theEffectiveness % mean on the "examine" window? There are 3 categories: Vulnerabilities, Special Protection and Effectiveness. The first 2 are self explanitory while Effectiveness is a little vague.

For example, a Shallow Torton is:

Special Protection: Stun 25%.

Vulnerabilities: Heat, Cold, Acid, Electricity are "-" (in other words 0%)

Effectiveness: Kinetic, Energy, Blast, Restraint 5%

So, does that mean that Kinetic et al. are 5% more effective against it (in other words they have a 5% vulnerability to them), or does it mean that Kinetic et al. are only 5% effective (in other words they are 95% resistant to them)?

Am I just misinterpretting the meanings of the other categories or what?

Thanks,

PS: I did do a search on this and couldn't find the answer, even if it was asked before.

Was this mentioned in the patch notes. or is it a bug, but I can no longer examine a creature and see if it db's or what type of meat it has.

Maybe I missed this discussion -

Are the powers that be planning on fixing examine anytime soon? I can't remember all the resists for all the creatures. And yes, the resists are still there - we did an experiment and stuff I know was fire resistant pre-CU takes less damage from a flame thrower than from a rifle post-CU.

Some TK go smack a Peko Alb around and see if they are still 100% kinetic resistant.

Just wondering -

I have a eerie feeling that when it is fixed everyone will be able to se all the info. You know like CL is now visible by all.

And, I believe that all the different types of VK do energy damage now. A TKA has to be really unarmed to do kinetic damage.

I really do not understand whey they remove special damage from some weapons. This makes no sense at all, and then when a weapon does have special damage it is called "elemental" damage. Why? This is not a fantasy MMORPG, it is suppose to be Star Wars. The old weapons identification was fine, why change it? I mean we knew certain weapons did heat, cold, electrical, acid and so for types of damage. Then some of those now don't do that, and the ones that do get the mysterious term of "elemental damage". I guess this is to help none Star Wars people feel welcome or something, but it really did not seem necessary at all, but so be it.

Well, let's hope so... since that's the way it always was. No one ever needed scout to see kinetic/energy/heat/etc resists or armor rating.

I would agree though that deathblow, resources types, damage output, etc should only be related to the Creature knowledge skill mod.

Resists, however, should be viewable by everyone.

It's like "Oh, we changed the resists on Peko Peko Albatrosses to better suit their CL, but you won't be able to find a single Ranger who can tell you what was changed, so don't bother trying."

I can still see "Difficulty level" and it is not the same as the Character Level of the creature.

Just for the same reason we can loot mystical scrolls and tomes. Not to mention I think I started a quest that some old wookie will give me a "stone" that will "teleport" me to Kachiro. Not sure if that is the quest payoff but thats what it seemed like to me when I was talking to the npc.

I think its safe to say the guys making these quests have zero clue about Star Wars and are just doing what they are told. Pretty sad really.

Well it may not be the devs' fault. I'm sure they have bosses just like we do.. and were told something to the effect of "Give us a blend of EQ2, WoW, and Lineage 2 *cash signs for eyes*" And presto-chango! That or they don't have bosses like us and are more akin to chimpanzees just chained to a chair for just a bit too long.

But on a more serious note, the orb you get from that mystic is handy... because it's a lot nicer than walking through all those lvl 75-77 bugs to get out of the cavern... especially if a guildie needs you somewhere other than Kashyyyk ASAP... Why no elevator or something more sci-fi? You got me there.

So, you got the reward from that quest? Can I get a screenshot maybe of what that looks like? Is it tech related like a mechanical device or just some mystical glowing orb that moves you there?
