#1. Dont go to the most popular hunting spots. The less other players in your server zone the less auto storing problems you will have.

Only reason I go anywhere near the Mining Outpost is so I can find a doc to get buffed with, normally hunt out of my Player City (6k away from the Mining outpost), if I can get there without my pet poofing on me:/

#2. Get a good connection and a fast computer. With cable modem and 1gig of memory I almost never have this problem. (almost)

cable check, 1Gb RAM check, 2.4Ghz Processor check, 310Gb HDD check, Radeon 9600 Pro 128Mb check

If your 310Gb HDD is not a SATA you have a big bottleneck there...but other than that can I have your computer?

True, up until1 month ago on Valcyn I had never had a pet store on me. I wondered what the fuss what about. Now I am experiencing it all the time.

Like BlindTyldak I've got my own theories in regard to the autostore.

For me it happens on server boundaries as I cross them - the pets stop moving, then go *poof*. This seems to happen more on high traffic planets (specifically Corellia)when things are laggy.

Given the wide range of circumstances where this is happening (and the fact that SOE haven't killed the bug) I suspect there is more than one bug, combination of circumstances or reason for it happeing which would make isolating the bugs tricky to say the least.

So far factors involved appear to be:

Lag - and by extension server/planet traffic (since this is what causes lag).

Server boundaries - when the pet data is transferred from server to server.

Possibles are also:

Locations (planet/galaxy) - which would imply something odd about the set-ups ofspecific servers.

Client PC configuration - possibly a synchronisation problem causing autostore?

Unfortunately, it's going to be down to the devs to determine the circumstances and kill the "bugs" if they can find them. All we can do is give them as much information as possible on the circumstances when it happens. To that end I'm starting a thread to list the circumstances (don't think I'm duplicating - apologies if I am).

Actually it may be a question of how populated a server got, and did the csrs put in artificial pushes. On sunrunner at one point and I kid you not anyone who came with i lost something issue to a csr. Might get something back but would get this warning. Tattooine is suffering from issues, and we cannot be held responsible for any items being lost or deleted. We highly recommend you go to a less crowded planet to erect a structure such as dantooine.

They literally went about the process of chaseing people off the planet. So if you had anything remotely of value and heard this. You might say I want to move away from here. Anyway untill the summer came. Tattooine was a ghost planet. I could go into a mos eisley with nobody else there on saturday morning too. So if your server is anything like sunrunner. There was a good bit of csrs adviseing people to live on dantooine. Then again if your server stayed stable enough on tattooine then dantooine might have less people.

Lag and system configuration seem to have little or no effect on my occurances. Two nights ago, for example, I had to worst case of lag I'd ever seen; tells were taking up to three minutes to transmit, and when moving into a busy area I was getting sometimes one frame per two seconds, when I can generally stand in the middle of a PvP battle and watch it like its a film no problem; didn't lose my pet once. Last night I was having no noticable lag at all and was walking in completely unpopulated areas (Mos Espa, Moenia, Deeja Peek) and my pets stored ten or twelve times. My system configuration has not changed since I started playing, yet this bug still fluxuates wildly. I also have just as much chance of this happening at non-peak times as I do at peak.
