(A) Want everyone to be able to get one, so there would be a market for selling to non-CHs
No way. Non-CH hav enough mounts now as it is. Forget them, give us CH some love!
(B) Want to keep it as a CH-only perk
Give CH some Cats to ride as had been mentioned. Make em CH only!
(C) Want to keep it as a high level/Master CH only perk
Give Master CH a Flying mount that is fast! MCH needs something that sets em apart.
And for ALL CH pets (CH only! this suggestion is NOT for Non-CH!):
Make ALL the CH pets rideable in combat AND give the rider the ability to use special attacks. Of course the rider would need to be a ranged combat class. Would make no sense for a Melee artist to be able to use melee abilities while mounted. However all CH should be able to use their pets in combat while mounted. Come on ! Make pet mounts useful!

Someone mentioned the idea of using a Torton as a group mount much like an elephant. THAT would be awesome if we could have wetbars on them as well.

B or best - C.
A MCH doesn't have any special perks. We need something goodthat we can brag about.

You know I have seen this post a thousand times, and I know it is way past it's intended shelf life but alas I must say some things:
First let me clear out the people who won't enjoy nor comprehend most of this post. I think the amount of people screaming and squaking about a flying mount are ....well let us be nice and say silly. What point is there to a flying mount in a game where nothing flies. Even the flying creatures do not fly. Even the jet pack does not fly, it just hops kinda high. This is a ground based game and that is not going to ever change. There is no point to nor a use for a "flying" creature other than a 2 second pause in gameplay to say "oooooh!". It is totally lacking in creative thought. No offense intended.
Now that the people who wouldn't enjoy this discussion have stopped reading and are thinking of neat ways to call my mother names therest of us can get to work. Let me start this off by pointing out to those who do not know me that I make my living in SWG by selling non-ch mounts. I will admit I would benefit from the thoughts I am abotu to express here, but I am not worried about me. In fact makign the changes I suggest would hurt my business by making every CH a competitor. So when you listen to this take into account that I am doing this out of a desire to see the game thrive, not to see myself thrive.
There are some very simple facts about mounts that everyone seems to want to ignore. There is no reason to have every mount a CH only perk. Anyone who suggests that is, I am sorry to say, being totally selfish. Never, ever, ever, ever ,ever in the entire history of the entire world has it ever been that a tamed mount was only ridable by the person who tamed it. The entire action of taming a creature and mounting it means that it is "broken" and anyone with the skill to sit can ride it.
When we are talking specifically about creatures such as bantha, cu pa, kaadu, and the other timid breeds there is no place for a discussion on being CH only. It is absolute idiocy for them to be. If a dimwitted, moronic, barely able to walk Gungan can ride a Kaadu then anyone can. When it is tamed it is domesticated. Domesticated creatures by definition are trained to be able to exist in conjunction with mankind(or zabrak kind ir whatever.) It is foolish for us to keep creatures from non-ch players who are definately domesticated and docile to begin with.
Whether more intense training is required or a restriction on commands placed for a domesticated mount is for the devs to decide. I think both would be best. The more work I have to do to train these things the more credits the service will run for. It is as simple as making two training options, one would be to train a non-aggressive pet to be domesticated, the other would be to train it as a CH companion. The CH pet could remain to be taught just as it is now. (with maybe the possibility to effect stats by aggression training, or endurance training etc...) While the Domesticated training style would allow only a small number of commands to be taught in only maybe two or three groups.
1 group would be mount training where the pet could be taught to follow, gallop, sprint, maybe a trick or two and at a penalty an attack command.(A penalty such as learnign attack costs 3 points while the other only 1)
2 group would be defense training (like guard dogs) with commands like attack, guard, patrol, etc...
3 group would be for domesticated/entertainer pets. They could be taught tricks and dances and would have a major penalty to stats aggressiveness and damage. Which wouldnt matter much since they would not be allowed the command to attack.
These three training types could add a good deal of control to proliferation while still allowing CH's a place at the table economically. You would not have to worry much about people buying uber pets to go out and fight for them, their pets would have a limited control ability and perhaps once sent in to fight they could not recieve most commands until battle ended. (maybe a leash command could be implemented where a player to pull a pet trained to be an attack dogoff a target would have to walk over and basically drag it by the collar away from the target.
These levels of control would allow you to finally open the Non-Ch pet field up. Allowing Non-CH players to own and use pets that fully trained were beyond their abilities. People could now have a Bantha mount without having to pay me to buy aBE made one, grow it then train it.(not that I mind) because otherwise you are saying every stormtrooper, tusken, or any other race in the galaxy was a CH before they were allowed to ride a dewback, bantha or tautaun.

I read it all...I did not stop at the second paragraph....I did not think up funny names to call you..your mother..or anyone else you hold dear..and I STILL disaggree almost 100% with your assumptions on domestication of SWG creatures.....let me repeat that...SWG creatures. We are NOT talking about your dog scruffy or the pit bull that your neighbor owns. Separate the game from the reality you know. I truly cant see anyone in real life domesticating a crustacean/spider hybrid monster(rancor) that can render most dinosaur predators ready to pee their collective pants. It will NOT be broken unless you happen to be the neighbor who can talk to rancors..ie the local hairy-ass creature tamer by the name of Sapiu.
