It takes three slots.

And a question myself, do specials stack, or does the L3 effect override the L1 and L2 ones?

Example: I tame a CL70 pet with no innate specials, and teach Thick Skin L1, L2 and L3. Does it have a better defense than a CL70 pet tamed with Thick Skin L3 and no others trained?

From what I've seen, each level of ability overrides the previous so a creature w/ no abilities trained up to Thick Skin 3 would have the same modifier as a tamed pet w/ the innate ability. Just like you don't keep Eye Gouge 1 when you train Eye Gouge 2 or 3, the abilities cost the # of slots to reach the level but only have the highest trained effect.

The only inate abilities that i have seen the stats change are vigorus health and marring storm. Are the rest worrking ? If so what are the multiplyers ? Is this something they are going to fix so i we can actually see the stat changes ? I dont want to waste any pet slots on inate abilities that dont work.

Been there ... done that ... I foolishly wasted three slots on Frenzied Blitz L3 only to find it DID NOT "increase speed of attacks". If they (DEVs) would only publish which abilities are working, which abilities are "working as intended" (I think that is DEV code for "it's broke but we ain't gonna fix it!), and which abilities are bugged. Not gonna happen tho' ...

I to would like to know what ones work and do not. Some I can figure out but it would be nice to have a collection of this information for those of us that do not have the time to train up a pet with worthless abilities. We can always update the information as it gets fixed, lol.

I know this was asked and Im not sure if it got answered but the question was when does panicked rage set in. I tested the level one version and found out that it takes effect when the creature is at 10% health. I find this to be a little too close to death and would like to see something more like 25%.

Ok, I read the guide and most of the follow up posts and I'm still a little confused.

I'm playing my son's character and I'm usually a crafter so please be nice

Anyway, I tamed a rockmite (level10) that had inate armor 1.

I used the rockmite repoeatedly and after the 3rd maturity level I killed something and the onscreen message said "Your pet has acquired a new ability ,..."

So far so good.

Well, I have another pet, a level18 Humbaba that has one training slot and 24 training points.

Shouldn't I be also to train "Inate Armor 1" to my Humbaba?

I have a few more skills from a few more pets like this too and I'm not able to train any of my pets with the learned skills, although they have a trainaing slot and over 20 points (all level 1 skill)

Any help would be appreciated or a link to the answer.

I'll keep looking to see if I can find it also.

k here's the deal with the pet you just trained. it has an innate ability, one which it can teach you, but unfortunately its not just as easy as just taming it and it teaches it to you. You have to fight with it for a while. at a random point(usually in the first 3 or 4 lvls though) there will be a message that flashes across the screen in nifty little colors that says "you have just learned "insert pet skill here" from your pet" or something to that effect. Now when it says your pet has just earned a new skill, that is different. when pets progress, they gain "training lvls" which are of course different from creature lvls. the purpose of them, is to gain your pet more ability SLOTS and more ability POINTS. sounds like you got an ability slot, and hopefully you got some points too(which vary based on CL of the pet) once you have an open ability slot(which it sounds like you do) and once you have learned an ability from your pet (which it sounds like you havent) then you can teach it what you have learned. I think that about sums it up, there is also anotherguide on a sticky i think with a list of pet specials. you might wanna check it out, its a fount of good info for CHs. But in the end, hope i made it clear for ya

I rechecked my combat spam and system messages and it said "you have learned pet triaining ablity L1 knockdown-as an example.

I have a pet that has 1 training ability and 24 training points but I still can't teach him the ablitity. The pet is lvl18

may be the obvious question but did you try the /trainpet command, cause if you are just using the train on the radial menu, that is different. FYI the /trainpet command will say what commands you know if you dont havea pet targeted, if you do, that is how you train them abilities. If you are doing that, then i dunno, im not sure how many points that skill requires. Hope that helps.

Yep, that was it. I re and re read all of the posts there and I was assuming the radial and the /trainpet were the same..sorry for not understanding.
