This covers many issues, but there is still one that seems to be forgotten. Wookiee's are supposed to have a bonus to Creature Handler. The only one talked about is ataming bonus. Of course, this doesn't help much if you are a master CH or use multiple lower lvl pets, or Bio-Eng'd pets. I became a Creature Handler, because I thought it would be fun. I also wanted to be self sufficient. I became Wookiee, because it was the best class for it, or so I thought. Now elites have taken over tanking, which Wookiees cannot compete as well in, for lack of armor. We cannot call pets in battle, which is when we need them the most. With this Imperial crackdown, I suppose I'll have to take my pets with me to the cantina to protect me if I'm discovered. I hope you don't mind a few Graul Maulers, or perhaps my Kimogilia. It seems to me, Wookiees would have tougher skin, and Creature Handlers would be used to rough-housing with thier pets (perhaps a sense of melee defense?) Also, a Master Creature Handler has spent 106 skill points, and without thier pets they have nothing to show for it, other then what they get from scout. That being said, It's not practical to have your pet out all the time, especially in a city or while you fly, especially so for the slower creatures. It would be nice to get some kind of defense bonuses. Perhaps even one that was relational to pets called. For instance, the higher the lvl of pets you call, the more concentration it would take to control them, thus reducing your defenses. I've started tailoring my pets towards being able to drop some of Creature Handler so that I might be able to get some damage mitigation. I would probably drop it all together, if I didn't feel so reliant upon it, since I am a wookiee. I suppose I could do ok, if I were a Master Doctor with my mind buffed and a combat profession to back me up. After I started Creature Handler, the only thing I had wanted from it was to use the second pet I caught. It was taken way from me a few times by all the nerfs.

Gah...

I'm a Master Bio-Engineer and I'm pretty new at it. But for the last 2 weeks I've been samplin Nightsister Rancors, including Grodo, and came out with a pet with a CH lvl of 72. Isit ever going to be able for MCH to use pets over 70?

I'm ranting in the BE forums too. CH and BE should be best friends. There should be special bonuses something given so that some MBE should be able to use pets over 70. I had to give up almost all my combat skills to be MBE and have some CH skills. They say thats the price I have to pay for my profession, but MCH should be able to protect themselves with the pets they use. The CH has been limited in the number of Creatures they've been able to use as well as the lvls of pets.

Hopefully we'll see something happen soon. I thank you SOE for listening to us.

Bingo you got it. MBE and MCH should be the best of friends. And Yes we should be able to use pets over level 70 especially wookies (of course i am totally prejudice here). We should be allowed on UBER UBER pet that we can pull out to do battle with Krayts. I hear all the Imperials saying, we should be able to use AT's against Krayts. Yeah right, no way guys. There is a heck of a difference between my nerfed Rancor and your AT-ST. In the movies a Rancor could crush an AT, in the game, a wet blanket can put a Rancor on the ground. So until they either let us have real Rancors then the AT's should stay out of harvesting tough animals.

I had a level 72 dewback that was awesome, 2 points over 70 and I couldn't use him. You would think that they would come up with some clothes or something we could use to get those 2 extra points.

And people are right, being a wookie should have some benefits, right now all we have is deficits, lol funniest thing I have seen is a wookie jedi. OH MAN HOW DUMB. Anyway wookies and MCH is like the doodoo bird, soon to be extinct, thankyou very much mr. Dev.

....and then no matter how hard we get nerfed, we still keep CH because we are still some of the coolest characters on the game.

I believe that's dodo, not doodoo. ROFLMAO

Wookiee's and MCH's are far from extinct. I've seen a bunch new CH's. As long as there are people enjoying the profession there will be CH. Wookiees are going nowhere. As for wookiee capabilities---I do use /wookieeroar quite a bit and it works wonders. Nothing like intimidating someone and making them miss you repeatedly.

great list vertexon, hit it on the nail. mounts have gone totally useless, maybe storage on them and remove gallop and make their normal runs speed at gallop speed. Also pvp is huge. I feel it very cruel what they did to us. right now we are the only nerfed proffesion and we get our pets and our own asses royally kicked in pvp. especially with everyone going to the 2 most overpowered combat proffesions (tka (your so overpowered its sick!) and commando) with so many people going to these proffesions becuause of the power in them it spells hell for me. i feel like i waisted my skill points and time becoming a ch to watch all my pets either get punched and kicked to death or to watch them burn alive. yes i admit we were overpowered before but we have been brought down to such a low level that we are pretty much ineffective in every situation, pvp and pve both. hell with vitality being such a **edit** i hardly use my pets anymore in combat. do you know why? because they either die so quick because our proffesion has been beaten so bad or im sick of watching my strongest pets die like they are no challenge to a novice marksman.

Hi, I'm a MCH on Valcyn and I've been thinking all of the same things that have been posted, with the exception of a few things that don't make sense. Anyways, here are a few of the topics thatI most think about during gameplay (sorry if its much :/ ) :

-uber non-ch pets ---- granted to tell you the truth, i've seen much less of them lately after last patch, but there are still the bugged lvl 1(0) be pets around that should really be reset as well. I seriously understand the point behind bio'd pets, it just makes sense. Forus MCH that can control an extremely tailored pet, its unbelievably fun.But there should be some kind of reasonable limit. It is entirely sad to see a durni beat down a rancor....definitely not the Star Wars I know of. Maybe limit non-ch pets to 5k ham, or 7k even, but to give them light armor??? please stop that. Now I understand that not every yahoo from here to kansas can craft these obscenities, but enough of them have been released. I thoroughly love BE profession, and I haven't even played it lol. I just don't have the points for it, maybe someday I'll give up something for it, it is extremely interesting .

-economy ---- I can't say that there is no economy, on a any given day though my chances of selling are can be 0-200k. I find that my tactics in selling revolve around selling mainly to Novice CH's range 12+, who can't buy a bio'd pet (cost), and are having no luck finding a decent lvl 14-30 pet. These people are my primary market.Very rarely will anyone ask for something higher, since they can go and tame it themselves if they can control it. The Non-CH's on the other hand, I simply state to them that "wild creatures are just not worth you buying, unless you absolutely must have one". I refer them to a MBE and send them on their way. I find I do a lot of educating to the public at large, and I'm quite happy with that role as well. Some of my sales come from people that just simply can not get a BE pet, either for reasons of not knowing a BE, nothing in their price range, or just simply no pets available where they had been looking. As a MCH I could also charge per skill that i train to a pet, charge for taming a BE'd pet from inventory, and charge for even naming a pet ....but that just doesn't go along with my karma....on the other hand those are some areas of opportunity for CH's to make money. I've been tipped up to 20k for doing training before.....possibilities here....but I don't charge because I try to make a decent connection with the people to come back to me for any pets they need caught and trained. Call it planting a seed, customer relations . By expanding your knowledge of all the pets out there, you just may find a certain lvl18 wildpet that has stats of a lvl 22 wild pet, basically the CH of today has to be more informed about pets, a veritable master LoL, in order to sell.

- mounts ---- It's funny, but regardless of the fact that mounts serve about as much purpose as a stone knife, (considering how cheap and easy it is to get vehicles), I STILL continue to get request to not tame, but TRAIN mounts that people had purchased from BE's. And come to think of it, some people will buy a BE'd pet, but will not be able to tame it, so it is stuck in their inventory, they bring the pet to me and I take care of it. I tame for no charge, so it's no big deal.

- camps ---- i have nothing more to say, but for a MCH it should be no problem to pull a pet at any time.

- storage ---- someone said it best earlier, there are some of us that don't do this for the money, or the pvp, or status....we do it for the love of the pet! we build a collection and can't get rid of our favorites. A house should allow for MCH(only?) to be able to store pets in, maybe a set amount, but at least some reprieve. A MCH should be allowed to sell his pets on a vendor or bazaar, the same way that animals are sold in real life, by deed. This is a huge downfall for MCH, in that she/he has to sit around yelling out the info they have on pets and hoping for a sale. I don't find that sitting at Coronet Starport yelling that I have pets for sale should be part of the few hours of gameplay that I can muster each week. Now, maybe the pet can not be transferred unless the MCH is present, and the person has to trade the deed over....whatever. something please though. speaking of transfer...

- transfer command ---- there is absolutely no reason to have this command....period. it is currently away, out on vacation. I have traded so many pets over trade window, of all levels, that my stomach is sick from thinking about it now. I'm sorry but other than being able tohave the pet out and say "This is your new master" to transfer the pet....there is no reason for this command. They need to fix the trading in the window thing. If a BE makes a pet, and it's in inventory of a player, that player should be required to bring it to a MCH to tame, and then train...period. I say making MCH the only ones that can tame and train a BE'd pet would mix things up a bit, make us a bit more useful economically as well.someone said "MBE and MCH should be best friends", I agree.

- dna samples ---- maybe MCH's should be able to sell a BE a pet, for DNA? i've been thinking about that....we would have a little better economy that way.

- combat ----I'm not sure what kind of combat the people are talking about, where theycan't fight with a pet that doesn't have Light armor and high kinetic. Also, I'm not sure what that person was talking about being unable to be a fighting class, I'm M creature handler, M pikeman, and part medic (the good part! lol). I usually use1 or 2pets that have no armor, and about 35% kinetic, and around 8k+ ham, and yes its wild . I find no problem in them living, nor in them tanking, and I mostly solo because I'm a control freak and don't like most groups (makes sense why i am CH lol). I find them extremely useful for Crowd Control, in that if multiple things aggro on me, I just peace and tell pets to pull mob from me in order. I normally do runs on Dantooine against Mokk shamans, and find that a pair of GSP's or CRC's are more than up to the task. Yes you do have to heal them, but the mobs are quite hard .Also, if your pet wants to run off to chase the monster in PvP, you just yell at him to attack again, that always does it for me. It seems the character models on the bigger pets justare too close to the enemy, and they want to back off a little, continually because the enemykeeps coming forward lol.Ona side note,I don't thinkI'veeverhad apet "poof" on me when in combat.....its been almost a year ofplay and not one, maybeI'm just lucky.Pets are not obsolete in PvE unless you have no tactics. I rarely use my higher pets for PvE, I use my birds usually to grind things because they keep up with my Swoop . Now as far as PvE goes and wild pets sucking, well that's what BE'd pet are for, I have a couple wonderful creations that have up to 13k ham, light armor, and at least 3 stats at 90%, the lowest being at 23% on one of them. Work the MBE's to get your special pets for PvP.

- taming ---- I'm not sure what that guy was talking about too easy to tame pets, just walk up and hit tame.....ok. Maybe you are using clothes with skill tapes or somthing, but I find that as MCH, trying to tame a toxic merek battlelord is very dangerous. In fact I totally failed the first time I tried, just kept getting attacked. With mask scent at minimum level that CH has, I find it kind of hard to just "run up" to aggressive creatures, especially with mom and dad around, and just click tame. But maybe humans are just not good tamers, beats me....

My main goal in the game is to catch as many pets as I can (ugh, pokemon, bleh), and be able to help those that can not find a particular pet or don't have the time to catch it. I find it frustrating that there are super non ch BE pets, and have caught some flak from people telling me that wild creatures suck. Currently wild creatures are for the people that I talked about earlier: not super rich to buy a BE'd pet, mid CH level, unfamiliar with a BE or can't find BE'd pets, CH that doesn't have time or skill to tame higher lvl pet, and the occaisonal person who has absolutely no clue about CH profession . And again I find that having knowledge about the different ranges of creatures can actually get you a sale against a BE. I commonly ask people that have BE'd pets with super distorted stats what lvl the creature is....then check my listing of pets and inform them that a wild-so and so- could actually do the job better. Face it, you know you've seen some poor sap with a horribly bio'd pet, and she/he thinks its the best thing since warm socks, little do they know they probably got ripped on the price because of the high control lvl and horrible stats. But hey, its a bio'd pet, lol, it must be better . Seriously though, there are some awesome suggestionslisted, my eyes are just burning fromreading all the posts soI need to stop hereLoL.Ourservices need to be integrated with MBE, otherwise I'm not sure what MCH will be for....other than to fans of Pokemon.

Let me begin by saying that I started both BE and CH at roughly the same time (about 2 days, if that), and only about a month ago (i.e. After the nerf of CH, and the rebuild of BE). Initially, I began CH so that I could have pets to tank as I advanced through Carbineer. Hey, we got very few special defenses, and counterattack didn't work. In the whole month I did that profession, I counterattacked once. And I had the logs to prove it.

Anyway, back to the important subject: CH's nerfed status.

I will admit that the first pet I tamed was a lowly durni, and it took me several (about 7) attempts to successfully tame it. Upon taming and training it, I quickly realized that babies really don't work well straight out of the hole. So I gave it several days to grow up, taming and releasing a few critters along the way for xps. A friend ended up giving me a gurrcat to use, so out went the durni. Seeing as the gurrcat maxed me out for use at novice (lvl 12), I figured it should be able to hold its own against a few weaker mobs. I was dead wrong, and I knew why: it took too much damage, and dealt too little. Now, for having 3k health, I would have expected it to act much like a player with a stat-buff, until I realized that all creatures have secondary stats of around 40. In simpler terms, they heal 1 point in a pool every 2.5 seconds. Contrast this to a human with minimal secondary stats: They heal 3 health per second.

This simple fact proved that no creature could hold its own in combat against a powerful player, no matter how big the HAM bars. Players heal (at worst) 7.5x faster than a creature, and at best (migrated in favor of the secondary stats and with a very good buff, leading to a recharge pool size of around 3k) 75x faster. In order for a creature to compete, it would have to have comparably higher HAM bars. In other words: around 3750 at worst (player having 500 HAM pools), and around 225000 HAM vs a player with a set of good stat buffs. The first is easily found and achieved, the latter is not for the creature. And I can say from personal experience that amongst players, people using buffs are more common than people who have minimized their secondary pools.

Now of course, all of the above assumed that creatures could do approximately equal damage over time when compared to a player of approximately the same level. While this holds true at the lower levels, the whole system doesn't scale well. It is very difficult to find a creature that does near 600 damage per strike, and I've never seen a creature attack faster than once every 2 seconds. This yields 300 damage per second. Contrast this withme as a Novice Carbineer, using Full Auto Single 2, which I could spam for about 20 shots without a stat-buff. Using this, and an admittedly very good EE3, I averaged over 1200 damage per second. The weapon itself had a natural attack speed of 1.1 seconds, and missing was very rare. Creatures dodged and counterattacked more often than I missed. So, a Novice Carbineer using a very good weapon vs a Novice Creature Handler using a very good creature (mind you, alevel 12 critter), expect a damage difference or about 16x. I say this because I usually see very good level 12 pets do about 150 damage every 2 seconds at the top end. Factor that into the HAM approximations above, and you get some rediculously high HAM bars.

When I realized this, I started Bio Engineer. I have currently reached 2/2/4/3, and can (with a great deal of luck) create creatures that are exact replicas of the natural critter. I currently only use pets of my own making, and my personal best is a level 43 Kaadu that was based upon high-grade samples of Mantigrue Reapers. After making her--and getting "Great Success" on each experiment--I realized that her stats were within 2% of a natural Mantigrue Reaper, and I had maxed out my option to experiment on her Physique and Prowess bars. When I hunt on Endor, Missy (my Kaadu) tanks for the new guild members, but any one of our masters is capable of tanking for far longer than my beloved pet.

Missy can't even begin to hold a candle to even a mid-level Teras Kasi or Fencer. And for this I am saddened. I make my own pet-stims and vitality packs, which admittedly aren't the best. But I prefer to be self-sufficient. I have lost all of my combat skills, and use a Republic Blaster that was given to me the day I started this character. Untrained--even tho the Republic requires no certification--I hit more consistently for more damage than my pet.

If any one, simple fix would increase a Creature Handler's prowess in combat it would be this: Increase the secondary stats on creatures. I have payed a large sum of money to fly a Master Doctor to Endor to stat-buff one of my pets (a time before Missy). The pet had only 50% kinetic, and no armor. That pet went the entire night without requiring a single heal. Not one. It could finally out-tank one of the master combatants of our guild. That same pet can't solo a single mid-level creature on that planet otherwise.

The suggesstion of a flying mount would be an entertaining novelty, but not really any moreso than mounts themselves have become. Medium armor does little good against medium- and heavy-armor piercing weapons, of which there are several. It also doesn't help in PvP combat: Ignore the creature, kill the handler. In PvE, medium armor would be a blessed thing, however. Asking to nerf BE creatures would destroy 50% of my business as one. There would be no reason for half of the skill columns, simple as that. However, there should be--and are, when you look very closely--natural creatures that can out-perform any BE creature. Have you ever seen what Plague Strike does to someone? Even to someone with stat-buffs? There's a very good reason that I can't breed a creature with that ability: it would give you absolutely no reason to ever need to tame a creature. And I will find a baby Mantigrue Screecher, and I will tame it. And Teras Kasi can know fear then. And my engineered pets may have more armor and HAM's, but they will never have the raw killing power that nature has already bundled into that flier.

BRAVO czolus BRAVO!!

I remember the screechers well in fact i spent a week and a half looking for a baby, NO LUCK.

Oh and talk about area plague try a Bull Rancor, that puppy is scary.

Lastly, you explained, finally, why pets don't take as well as humans, secondary stats. thanks!!

Nice work Vertex.

Interested to read comments about not selling and combat. I do still sell variety of pets, including large numbers of Non CH, albeit not for huge amounts -)

The ability to call pets outside City / CAMP would be an immediate and effective change, giving the opportunity to call the high level pet appropriate to the Weapons deployed of the PvP player faced (according to resists). I don't see this as hugely imbalancing comabt capability but it would provide versatility. At present any player can HotKey Switch a Weapon anywhere - why not pets.

Um.....according to TH's latest post, the 30 second wait for pet to appear is still going in, as well as inability to call a pet for 60 after you have lost aggro. Yet another nail
