Thread: Making CH Competitive

I agree with some other posters on fact that BE's need to be able toenhance our tamed pets. One thing I hate about BE's is that they take away from my need to hunt rares and tame babies. I love to fight with pets that I worked hard to get and if a BE could make MY pets better that would be awesome. CH is more then a guy who controls his pets. One of the main reasons I play this class is because I love to tame my own pets, and BE is a class designed around making pets for us. Why not let them enhance our pets so we both win.

I would like to see a couple new mounts to spice up the CH profession. The Grand Wrix that happens to be a perfect size for a mount, would be a perfect addition to the CH mounts, and allow for a better terrain neg, and better speed, at least give him the speed of your slowest speeder. Right now, a mount is laughable. Perhaps allow us to mount a flying creature as the ewoks did, to give us flight, nothing ridiculous, but it might spice up CH a little, you are coming out with av-21's and jet packs, yet the main basic means of transportation is not being touched, it seems its only for show. I think having armor and added storage is a great idea, droids have armor and storage, why shouldn't we be able to. And i also agree to a couple earlier comments made, once you attack a target with your pet, if the target runs off your SOL. you either follow it, shout follow before he takes off, or wait til he is either killed or kills the target. It should stay in a 20 meter perimeter, after all, a rifle has restrictioins, it would be a good idea as well for your combat rebalance. And guard does not work at all, how many times has my muon ran off and i shouted guard before attack, my pets sat there and watched me die. Many times have i considered killing CH, but for some of us, having the extra companions is fun, but having them be functional would bring other people to this profession.

Thanks,

Same thing I said two months ago ...

Roll back Pub 5 ... without the rest of the Combat Balance it is just a crippling, cruel joke played upon the CH community.

Put CH's back where they were relative to other professions that have since gained better armor, buffs and food ... and if that's unbalanced, well y'know, there's a Combat Balance somewhere at the end of the rainbow to fix that, but at least CH's won't be the helpless gimps we've been while waiting six months for the mythical Balance already.

This solution has been simple and obvious for months, but since we haven't been listened to for a lot longer than that, it's one of the many reasons the 26th is my last day.

But good luck to the rest of you in getting the slightest bit of attention from an understaffed dev team focused on saving this game with prettyTIE fighters and Jedi while you've paid a year's worth of subscription fees for no maintenance or improvement in the service you thought you were paying for.

And a couple other quick things, as master you dont get anything, except the ability to bring out 3 creatures, well that doesnt mean much withcreature level being level 70, keep the rest of the trees the same, but allow a master the ability to hadle level 100, so we can use some good creatures, rather than three half dingers, or two ranchors for tanks. Give the CH there own mount, something we can catch in the wild, and train as a mount, something a bio cant make, after all bio is a good profession but they can work on multiple areas, we are only creatures. Last, it would be nice to give a special attack command, and have it work. Can you please fix this. thanks.

1) Give the CH a command that will tell the critter to guard him (or another player) to the death. That ninety seconds can be the difference between a successful hunt and a quick trip to the nearest clone center. If the CH can give the critter a command that will make it protect the body, regardless of everything (it would have to recognize when a critter/npc was going in for a deathblow, especially), then it would enable us to enjoy our time in the wild more. Better, if the CH has any medic at all (and don't we all?), this might be just enough to give a group an edge. If the medic of the group is guarded in such a way, you will know that there is a better chance of him rezzing you when one of those annoying rancors nails you too hard.

I think this command exists now. It is called guard. You train your pet with the key word (I use guard). I thought it was broken for a long time (post Pub 5 I think) but it turns out that it is a targetable command. To target yourself use ctl-1 then give the command. Now that being said I would like to remind everyone that CH has lots of bugs to go along with the nerfs. The above may not work for you. It does for me. I need to try protecting other to see if we already have this command. Also pet running away may affect it. My pets have saved me from more than one deathblow however by keeping a MOB busy till I recover from incap.

give the ablity to Ch to have lvl 100 pets...This would grant the Ch 2 lvl 50s giving him more of a variety with diff special attacks to each pet...Make the pets dots really effective like their natural counter parts in the wild...

OK here I go some time ago when the armors didnt have good knect protection , beening a master Ch would be great in PVP but now Pets are a joke . Here is my Idea..

New pets .. Basic It will be a work between Bio engeners and Droid engineers It would be a Mix of a Droid and Pet , It would take coponents of BIO and Droids enginners Knect wont be the only type of damage since DE will help making pets it could add weapons to it , just like a big " robotic" pet hehe , so they could make pets more ressistence and doing all kind of damage , not only knect .. and.. in order to have weapons on it , it could take weaponsmith components , and armorsmith coponents to add armor .. It also could have defence against dizzy , stunn , knock down , etc.. depends of the quality of the components and of the Bio enginner that crafts it... I may didnt express myself well in this post , but I hope everyone got the main Idea hehe. I have been talking with CH around and they all liked it , It could add some fun to the profession....

1. Storage but also compartments on the pets "saddlebags" or weapon slots or armor slots? Storage could be used for filling food you want to feed the pet. So when feeding it does not eat my expensive food if there is one in my back pack. You could use this space for storage in general too I guess but try to find use for it to relate it too the pet as the food thing. Armor and/or weapons on them can be very different and this issue would be helping us now if implemented since our pets do lack a chance to stand up in combat to any other professions. PVP is no use at all and PVE is difficult and sometimes too hard. With say an option to give my larger pets some additional armor like the energy shield thing. It does not have to make them appear different and it does not have to be permanent either. Since there is a combat balance thing in the future this could be until we have that. If not compartments you could add the time for rage and embolden pets a lot and increase damage and armor on them ... This should also not be something that take as much ham as it does now. Silly thing really that almost all of my action mind go away on such a thing.

2. Give all large pets trample and immunity to certain attacks. That include pets we face in combat in the wild. AT-ST, Rancor, Fambaa and many other types of pets should be able to trample someone as small as a human. That would be like a crushing blow, Knocking them down and cutting ham in half and giving them a headache ... whatever ... I would even consider the victim to be incapacitated an option. As it is now a rancor is no match at all for any master profession and this should not be the case. Rancors and many other wild beasts should be feared. Right? The immunity should be to knockdown. What does cause a human to trip a rancor. ..... nothing. Absolutely nothing. If a rancor is facing another large pet yes they could probably be able to knock the other down but not easy. They are very large and heavy so to do this would be uncommon even then. Say knockdown only works if the opponent is roughly smaller than you and if it is the same size success is cut by a percentage that is a lot. This could be applied to all combat really and KD is lame in the game. It does not do much for the feel and fun of the game.

3. Make ranged attacks and special attacks easier to apply and make the pets in question have some sort of different type of damage when using this ranged or special attack. If it is possible you could make them use it wisely AI on them better so if attacked by close combat they change to their type of attack that does not cause them to be hit as often .. Just a thought.

4. Make the BE pets non ch .s can use go away and be fixed. Some of the pets they have at cl 10 now make the use of being CH even less fun than it already was.

5. Limitations. Make pets that cannot fit indoors unable to go indoors. I might want to take my cat with me in but definately my rancor. I know there is a stay command but please all do not use that and to see a Rancor indoors no fun. To further add the effect of allowing people not to take out pets in towns that are wild and feroucious is that they can be fined by security forces for having the pet out in the city casing disturbance. Take Kimogila out of the CH and BE lists. It is too big and it is too wild to even begin thinking of having one as a pet.

May the force be with you!

This is a huge topic that was started three months ago. I agree with a lot of the ideas here but I thought I would put my two credits worth into the fray.

1> Pre-nerf, pets were not broken or overpowered. What was wrong was that non-creature handlers were allowed to use pets more powerful than the should have been able to use. Along with that, low level creature handlers were also able to use too high a level pets. I think the current point system is far more realistic. I would even take this one step further and either disallow non-creature handlers from owning pets or futher restrict the usefulness of non-creature handlers with pets.

2> Pets should be the "anti-melee" defense meaning that pets should be made especially effective in a melee with a melee class - either human or pet. They should also maintain there current level of defense against blasters.

3> Pets should be nearly immune to stuns or knockdowns.

4> Against other creatures, pets should have a powerful taunt.

5> I think pets need some armor. I'd go along with BE enhancing, special pet armor or just plain adding armor to the stats of wild or BE pets.

Speaking as an ex- MCH I think pets need the following

1. Resistance to stat effects

2. an inherrant "toughness" like melee should start around the +75 mark upto maybe +150 - 200 for high lvl stuff like kimo's etc, as it is pets are a joke against melee

3. fasters self healing (regeneration from 2ndary stats)

4, Removal of the 75% dmg reduction in PvP(especially du to the high kin armour)

5. allow faster than 2.0 attack speeds

6. if a person is fighting 2 pets in PvP they should recieve a reduction of chance to hit and accuracy of around 10 to 20 % depending on what there fighting, if there fighting 3 pets should be 10 to 30% again opponent dependant

7. Remove the 60% kin capp from BE pets allow a ranges of0 - 95% range thus ppl going against pets has to think about what dmg types to use not just run up and start killing

all these would make pets worthwhile and make the usefull in pvp and improve them for pve to

I have only been a CH for a short time but from what i have experienced and know about the game I will give my observations

1. At the moment buffs rule all and without buffs in PvP you might as well roll over.I have always thought buffsshould be weakened significantly (+5k to all stats! @#!%) oreven better removedentirely.Imagin 2people with the say nov brawlers, one has trouble taking out a rock mite the other has trouble taking out a rancor. This is far past unrealistic and ruins the game for humble starwars fans who cant play 26 hours a day. I have nothing against powergamers but they should have to get skills rather than just money. For pets to be competitive in a BUFFED UP WORLD they should be able to buff. If a artisan who couldnt hit a stationary rock normally can take out a tusken cheiftan why cant a drugged up rockmite kill a kaduu.

2. I havent done PvP with a pet but loss of vitality is in a word SILLY (since creatures die in . . . . . that much time)

3. It is stupid to say a CH+TKA (for example) shouldnt be more powerful than a Rifle man because. . . .duh he mastered anouther proffesion fools! A bounty hunter is probobly better than a Rifle man but no one complains because it is hard to get. becides he can get skills in pistoleer and he gets the bonus of both proffessions (asuming he uses a Pistol)

4. I think pets should be unique with more abilities as well so that a pet is more like a support role than just a soak damage Tank

I like the idea about being able to put on extra armor (in one way or another). And, how about giving pets a food/drink pool like players have, with special made BE foods/drinks that increase things like HAM/resists.
