Thread: Publish 7: Major (CH-related) Features
Are you a Dev?
NO
so stop stateing things as if they are fact!
"the reason for the 30 second delay is......"
How the (#@$@( do you know? do you speak to the devs on a daily basis?
You ovbiously weren't here when calling pets anywhere anytime was in the game, so stop pulling What if's out of mid air.
And guess what BUGS ARE AN ISSUE!
As I said go back to august and see what the issues were back then for CH's being able to call pets anywhere any time are. Why do I say this. Cause You haven't touched on one!
Stop theorizing and poping hyperbole and get some facts then maybe people would listen to you.
This is my last reply to you. Stop trolling this board with BS, and get an education to the real issues, or do you have a psychic connection to the devs?

Now there is a MBE who understands. Thank you Clerista. Your compatriot is exactly the kind of person that is hated so much by CHs, and gives BE's a black eye.
You are so right about the CH's being peeved, I don't know if I've ever seen a forum with so much anger focused on an issue. 9 days since patch, no hot fix, no answers, no acknowledgement of an issue, and deleted posts....
Ya I'd say we're a bit worked up..

"What if I'm out hunting on Dathomir and I see a Jedi leveling up XP on some rancors. He has a TEF, so he cannot attack me until I attack him first. I race up to him on my speeder, jump off quick and then immediately whip out my AT-ST, immediately give it the command to attack to start the engagement. Do you think it is fair for me to surprise a Jedi with a TEF by pulling out a walking turret that can easily pierce through his composite? It isn't."
Having a 30 second timer would prevent this type of unfair gameplay.

I won't respond to everything because it's already been covered. You think one way. I think another.
Powerlantern wrote:30 seconds does not seem unreasonable to me. No idiot can run up to someone pull out their pet suddenly and attack. They have to have it out already, which in my mind is a good thing.
Hmmm. So it is ok for a combat medic to run up and suddenly attack with a poison canaster but not ok for a MCH to suddenly pull out a pet. How but you place that 30 sec timer on any offensive equipping. Then maybe you can talk.

P.S. I watched an IMP Combat Medic do that very thing to another player just yesterday (Friday)

LOL here I am reading this thread in it's entirety, rage seething at the complete lack of concern or mention of our existing problems in the latest publish notes. Banthas and Cu Pas, be still my heart.
Why then LOL? Because CH is so borked as a combat profession now I am seriously considering getting another account so that I could be more effective in PvE and the occasional guild wars. Tera Kasi, already overpowered, gets another perk, added melee damage against ranged. Sounds good to me.
Suddenly it occurred to me that this might be the answer as to why the continuing nerfing of CH. The Devs have made it so difficult to get MCH now that I ( and I assume many others) are really reluctant to give up the profession. What then can we do. Open a new account of course. How insidious is this conspiracy that I would actually be giving serious consideration to giving our dear friends at Sony an additional $50 + $15/month after the hosing they have given us.
I must be on the edge of insanity or wait, who are those people on the grassy knoll.
About time someone other then myself talk about this. I have been saying this since the first ridiculous CH hit. Then I started to look at the types of changes made to the game. These changes are about money! Not balance or fair game play. The premature release of the game. All the time sink additions. The jedi system. Delayed promises. Carrots of a better game hanging in front of us.
So many of the posts in the forums talk about SOE as if they are this beneficial charity work hard for your entertainment. Wrong! It is about subscriptions. Which is fine they are a buisness. However to many players do not realize this. People have a right to have a good game free of bugs and exploits. Which we do not have. I have put a lot of time and money into this game and am still shocked at how people cut SOE so much slack. I use to but no more. I am a longtime paying customer and would like a little respect from SOE for the hard work I put into my profession. Instead my character get more and more unplayable. The mistake SOE made is that I will not start a second account, which so many people feel forced to do to enjoy the scope of the game. SOE did not give you this game you bought it and pay for it every month in time and money. Remeber folks it is all about subscriptions!

Why don't you put your heads together and think of alternatives to delays? Why don't you brainstorm ways to ensure that instacalling pets won't cause grief. If you think about it long enough, you'll realize the best, simplest solution is to add in a delay.
How does 'insta-calling' pets allow for griefing that 'insta calling' poison grenades or 'insta-calling' a different and much more powerful pistol/rifle/carbine(?) doesn't allow? If you insist on the sceneario that a pet is a 'friend' with a weapon how is 'insta calling' the rest of your group via group-tef NOT a griefing tactic?
And as an convenient additional thought project explain why 'insta calling' pets in the city right now is not creating a lot of griefing scenearios.

Good stuff. I would love to see some detailed senarios from the devs which proves the need for the 30 second timer.

I regularly remind the Devs how the community feels about the unwarranted 30 second delay. I did so again tonight. I plan to continue doing so for the foreseeable future, or until this gets changed or better justified.
DeneziB wrote:
You all don't seem to realize that the game's internalmechanism to call creatures, droids, vehicle, faction pets are one in the same. Calling a vehicle is the same as calling a creature. When you say that you spent skill points to call a pet, ... what you really are spending skill points on is for the ability to call a pet within the game's internal mechanism to call objects from your datapad. Any solution regarding the calling of creatures also has to encompass vehicles, droids, faction pets, etc. Hence the 30 second rule because it's the best solution.
30 second wait is a good thing. But when all is said and done, 30 second is ONLY 30 SECONDS! It's like, ... way less than a minute -- half a minute even! What's the big frikkin' deal that's making you babies cry so loud?
I don't realize the mechanism's are the same because they are not; that's bogus. When you click on a vehicle, it comes up with "Generate Vehicle" on the radial. Pets come up with "Call". At that point, the program knows the difference between the two. Simple piece of code: If object.class=vehicle then delay(30).
In response to your comment that bugs don't enter into it: Why not fix the bugs first? When my pet autostores in the middle of combat, I should have the instant ability to recall it. Instead of another player griefing us, the software itself is.
You continually mention the pet grief as if it were that effective, which it's not. I still have to have the pet out before I start the attack. Yet, you are unconcerned about someone who can change from a novice tailor carrying a CDEF to a full composite armored Commando carrying a flame thrower? And they can do that in the middle of combat. And running from a PC isn't real effective since they can counter and follow you better than a pet.
Since pets don't follow and/or autostore, when I'm with a group my whole party has to wait 30 seconds for me to get my pet out so I can get XP. Or we all have to wait 30 seconds sitting at the mission terminal since we can't get pets into the group.
30 seconds isn't the end of the world but it's an un-needed timesink, like sitting at a starport. Let's add 30 seconds to your tissue crafting time and see how you like it, and make it so you can't have more than one crafting tool of any given type.
As a BE, you should be the last person endorsing this, unless of course you're only into BE for the money of selling tissues and don't make pets.
Agreed.
Bugs, especially the pet Auto-Store,are the most relavent issues. Anyone who is a CH or MCH would appreciate that.
