Thread: did patch also reduce chance to tame?

i logged in about an hour after the new publish went live and spent a little time testing out the new system. i am MCH and i was wearing +13 taming and vicious creature shirt. i was on dath, so i started looking for wild spawn babies. i was able to tame 2 mutant baz nitches, which were around CL63 i believe, and a female kwi, which was around CL61 or something (sorry can't remember exact CLs but definitely low 60s). i then tried to tame a CL69 mature reptilian flier, and failed over and over again. i tried at least 10+ times, getting aggroed a couple times in between and coming back. so i gave up on that one and found another CL69 baby, this time a young reptilian flier. again same thing, tried to tame about 10+ times with no success. i also tried to tame a CL65 purbole scout and failed and got aggroed.

now i realize that even pre-pub21 an MCH could fail at taming, but i mean this seems ridiculous. just a couple days before pub21 i successfully tamed a CL70 reclusive shear mite after only the 2nd or 3rd attempt. there is no way that a MCH wearing taming clothes should not be able to tame a CL69 after this many attempts. i never ever had this big a problem taming pre-pub21. seems to me that the chance of taming these high CL creatures has been reduced a lot.

anyone else notice this?

I picked up 2 cl66 Reptilian Flyer babies and it took me a good few tries to get them. One thing I did notice, though, when one agroed me and it's parent attacked, it seemed easier to tame after I killed the parent. The other one who was still with its parent was much harder to tame (about twice as hard, I'd say).

If stupidity got us into this mess then why can't it get us out of it?

I don't need to hate people on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, nationality, or any of those other things. 30 seconds of conversation usually does the trick.

This is my first post, but wanted to let you know that I too tamed 3 lvl 60s babies today since PUB 21 went into effect.

I was able to tame a

ancient reptilian flier; (LVL 65) after several tries. (No special Ability)

Mature reptilian Flier; (LVL 69) 5 tries. (No special Ability)

a gaping spider hunter; (LVL 69) 6 tries. (Hunted Withdrawal LVL 3)

I didn't have any special clothing as I am a MCH/MP Ithorian, and haven't had any luck finding any and my guildmate has had issue creating them.

I did use the taming cookies that the cook made.

Almond-Kwevvu Crisp Munchies. I buy those by the case. I got some that are +18 to taming and munch on them any time I try to tame a high CL baby (in addition to wearing my +25 taming clothing).

I'm concerned that taming rates are not what they used to be, but I'm also aware of the fact that a failed tame is now MUCH more punitive... between lingering "You can't tame that" bugs (if nothing else, the lack of a period there is grating) and the HEAVY damage that babies can do now means that a failed tame is much more dangerous on higher CL attempts.

When i was taming babies on dath looking for specials I had a harder time than before. I was trying around 10 + times to tame 60 +s when before it was under 10 (Though I did find a Bull Rancor Baby and was able to tame first try . And I also noticed babies seemed to aggro more.

Thanks, my friend is one of the oldest cooks on Bria and has nevermade me any of these. I think I will be having a talk with him.

Also does anyone know if wearing excessive taming clothes can cause failed tames? For fun, I put on everything I could, it went to +52 and I was having a harder time taming than without the clothes at all. Isit like the "Price is Right', where you try to get as close to 25 without going over?

I think it has a pretty wide range of possibilities.

I was running around Dath taming lots of CL69 stuff. On two of them, I got them first tame, on others it took as many as 10 tries and an incap or two. I'm not sure if its harder or easier. I did notice the lag on masc scent is kind of long so its harder to tell if you passed a creature unoticed or not. But its been ages since I've done much taming so its hard to judge.

I found it to be pretty fun and exciting. The biggest difference was that the babbies are deadly and were flattening me regularly (sicne I had taming and masc clothes on instead of armor).

I found the special rate to be about one in 4 or 5. I tamed around 10 creatures and got two L3 specials. I was suprised how many CL 69 pets there were out there.

I haven't been able to get on since the patch yet, but even before the patch I had a horrendous time trying to tame anything over CL65 and that's wearing +25 taming clothes. In fact, I have yet been able to tame anything over CL 66. As a Master Creature Hander, I should be able to tame a CL 70 pet even without enhancements. Since others are able to tame these critters, I can only figure that I have been remarkably unlucky. Still, the devs really need to adjust the taming difficulty, especially now that babies are much more dangerous.

I use +25 tame clothes and +18 taming food and still had many failures taming CL50ish around my town on dantooine last night. So I can imagine CL70s being very difficult. PrePub 21 I tamed a reptilian flier and it took forever to get one, so it was hard then. Maybe because we have to tame so many times now it just seems harder than before?

I have also noticed dramatic hardness to tame higher level creatures, i'm not sure about this but it took me about 20 tame attempts to get CL 65 bat tamed from Yavin 4, i tamed8 bats, 5 Tanc Mitesand 2 Angler spiders and all of them seemed to take ages to tame without any BE clothing.
