Thread: CH Hot Fix coming...

Behold the power of the cancelled accounts! ![]()
Someone should have a strategy meeting with tailors and BE's.
Well at last something. Nothing we are not due.
But did you notice Tiggs post?
No apology or explaination. Like it came from a machine, a cold machine with a ice-cold heart. Do you hate your job so much or is it you just DESPISE us, the players so much you cannot show us some respect?
Well I for one am not thanking her because this should have not happened in the first place esp. as they were warned about it.
As SoE take the policy of limiting information for the players I can only make gueses like many of us.
But based upon the lack of information and your curt post, are you the best person for the job if indeed the job is to try and keep SWG healthy and live and not turn it into another EQ2/WoW clone or just let it sink into a deep dark hole quietly.
Hey, do not blame me or others who feel like me because if you make your bed, you lie in it and this one is quite a mess of SoE's own making.
Get your clicky finger rested up. It's crunch time for that last bit of double xp.
I must say, I am impressed that the issue was acknowledged in a public forum (still shocked about that one)and rectified very quickly. It doesn't excuse the fact that a major reported bug made it to the live servers but it is good to know that SOE, when properly motivated, can get the game back on track in a timely manner.
So, aside from as jubilant as I feel, this question is nagging at me horribly...
Publish 19 was yesterday. They tried a last-minute bugfix prior to it. We have a fix coming tomorrow.
I'm calculating an estimated 2 days to get the fix in for pets (assuming it works okay).
The bug itself was reported *the* day that Pub19 went up on TC.
So.....
I think it still says a LOT of very bad things about this game, when something so heinous ends up Live, when it only took them a day or so to get it right and ready to go out on Live to fix the issue.
Why exactly wasn't this fixed BEFORE it went Live, BEFORE a last minute attempt at a bugfix? If it took a day to push Live, why'd they waste CS's time, their time, and deal with all the aggravation?
This entire situation speaks very poorly of the Devs' communication with TC testers, and we were the unfortunate victims.
Hell, they didn't even acknowledge our Correspondent when they were pleadingfor some word about it.
Did they think we'd just be like, "Oh, golly - all of my pets are pieces of fluff now! Gee whiz, I'll log in next month and maybe it will be better." I mean, come on - trash someone's game like that and there's gonna be some very angry folks.
This game deserves better.

I was feeling frustrated as usual with the mess that happened, but when I saw the note.... Why not take all servers down NOW for the fix. People are crying in game over the pub19 mess.
I know this does not fix all the problems identified in the pub19 incident, but hopefully others will follow.
SOE please listen to your public. Talk to your public, let them know what is happening - basic customer service - COMMUNICATION.
I'm off to bed and hope someone listens and places the hotfix online overnight.
To fellow CH's hang in there, I know we've been beaten and knocked about, but we won't go quietly.
This scares me, for some reason.
I don't understand the point of putting things on Test Center first. The bug was reported there and they just didn't think it was worth delaying Empire Day for a bug effecting a minority of the players.
I can understand that. What I can't understand is what took them so long to address the issue after it was first put on TC? Yeah they tried a fix that they thought would work that didn't...but they was plenty of time to make sure it was fixed before putting this live.
I'd MUCH rather them delay the publish with LESS bugs than have it meet an artificial deadline to appease the marketing dept.
Seems like the more updates this game gets the buggier it gets.
I wasn't that impressed with Empire Day either. They could have put alot more thought into it, instead it was almost a carbon copy of what they did for Life Day. Very disheartening to see. This game has so much potential. Drives me crazy to see stupid mistakes like this happen all the time.
