Thread: BE better than a Tamed wild pet??
same thing again last nite.
are BE pets better stats really the issue or do just most handlers suck at what they are doing??
i think the skill level of the player has more to do with how well a pet does in a fight rather than the raw stats.
as Chuck Yeager said "Its the man not the machine" when speaking about how pilot skill relates to the quality of the equipment.
A better comparison would be if you used your two gurrecks in the same situation. That way you know which is better to use. Two pets with same HAM's but one with twice the resist percentage should fair better in a fight.

i know which will be more effective in my hands. what i am saying is that it isnt so much the pet but the person(s) controlling said pet. i know my limits and i know my pet's limits. but my point is not so much to comment on the quality of pets but to comment on the people using them. wild pets are not THAT bad. if i and a friend can use a single wild gurreck to better effect than a group of 10 or so with 3-4 much better BE pets then where is the problem with pets??
i dont think all the griping is related to the quality of pets but to the quality of the handlers. one thing that is overlooked is that a large portion of the folks griping about how much wild pets suck are the same folks that couldnt handle durni hunts with dual 65% kinetic light armoured graul maulers...

For the last time Barb, You are a Master Rifleman. You could tank with a Probot if you wanted to and solo most things.I will bet if you sent your Gurrecks into battle and used a Pistol, your pet would be dead in minutes, as it should be against a Krayt anyway. But instead you choose to ignore the fact and basically call the rest of the CH population that may complain about certain aspects of the pets, and say that they are Incompetent CH's. Not sure what YOUR facination with the Graul Maulers are, as you keep bringing those up as the Pets EVERYONE complains about.
Pets are Weak Barb.... Creatures are Weak... Graul Maulers are a Joke now, I dont even bother taking my pet out to tank them as I mow through the lairs. Gripe. Why are they so weak? Why cant we have pets that actually do Damage, for those who dont HAVE Master Combat Profession to back CH?? With the Buff system now, You don't even need the Tank pet... The 500 damage they can do doesnt even seem worth the effort. The "Specials", to be honest with you, most Creatures are Dead before I have even noticed any use for them. I used my screecher 2 times, did the Plague Strike and called off the screecher just to see the damage..... All animals were affected, didn't seem to do much after the 4 ticks I let it run. On the converse when I got hit by a screecher, 4 ticks and my Mind Ham (the Random ham hit) was COMPLETELY BLACK. So from what I can see the effect of the Pets in the wild, once they are tamed do not do the same damage as the wild animals. Probably because someone would cry Nerf, or you would just say that the CH is stupid and just a whiner.
I can tell you one thing though, Regardless of what my pet does if I use it, the animals on the other end of my T21 or Laser Rifle always do the same thing. In the 4 turns if that they have, they hit my pet if they do for the 500 pts damage if that, and Die. Saturday, I died for the First time in a long time fighting Rancors. I took on a Random Spawn of Enraged Bull Rancors, with a spawn of 5 or 6 Enraged Bull and Enraged rancors. Just me and My Rancor-Hunter. I wiped the original spawn out in seconds. I tapped the Lair and took out 5 more before My Muon downer hit, and I got hit. My fault for being unprepared. My Point... Wasnt my pet that did them in. It was my Other Skill. Pet helped sure, helped keep the Rancor in a tight group, for the 5 or 6 StrafeII 1-5k Shots it took to take them out...
One of these days You will realize without Master Rifleman, your Creatures wont be as powerful as you claim, that is when you will need to REALLY show your "CH" skill. Not sending your 11k Gurreck in while you fire off your 5x AoE shots.

ok usually i dont get upset with posts and try to be fair to all parties but this one just rubbed me the wrong way

ummmm Barb did you ever think it might have been the master doc that was saving your ass? if those CH that were dead did not have a doc with them then its safe to say they would have a very hard time takin these on. plus (like me) not all CH have a high combat skill. i only have stopping shot in pistoleer so i definatly agree with the above post. i know a master rifleman who can take out a lair in two seconds that i would have to pause and rest a few times before i could finish it. im not saying all CH should go out and buy BE pets or should ONLY use tamed ones. its all on your preferance. i use some of both because i find the benifits of both and love taming pets in the wild. however it makes no difference whether i have a bio pet or a tamed one because id still get owned by a krayt without a doc healin my pet. there is no way my stopping shot could take one of these guys out by myself. master rifleman has a clear advantage and with doc buff i bet you could take it down without the pet.
Next time think before you speak because it clearly shows you dont have an understanding of their situation.

Is there a difference in xp between a BE and a natural creature of the same level?

Thats an interesting question,at lower levels, I think I would average for enraged rancors was 1040 despite the pet being be or tameable. I dont remember, but I think back then the cupa I had got the same amount of xp than my be lvl 10 gurreck. The advantage was the ham, cupa wouldnt last for **edit** despite what other pets were tanking as well. If your pet incaps you get no xp.
yeah the doctor played a huge role and i am not down playing that at all. but the other guys in the much larger group also had doctors and comandoes and ch and rifle users. it does not in one bit change the fact that pets are not "nerfed" into unusability. neither BE pets nor wild ones.
yeah the combo of rifle/CH/medic is very powerful in PVE. i dont NEED a master doc to do a krayt it just makes it easier and goes a lot faster and its a lot more fun with my buds along for the fight. but when i see large groups of people with varied mixes of skills all of which have much higher DPS output than my small group of two+pet get their @sses handed to them. it makes me wonder where the real problem in taking out large beasts lies...
when i see a mixed group of master doctors CH rifle users comandos pistoleers carbineers all getting their butts kicked by a single enraged rancor lair spawn and i am doing them with ease with a much lesser and fewer pets no doctor no buffs and i am using autofire mode on the T21 to make it more interesting it makes me wonder where the problem is. it surely isnt because the pets are weak or the skillsets are weak or the weapons are weak. the weakness is the person(s) at the keyboard.
but yeah if i send in my gurreck and do nothing to support him he will die. that is a no-brainer. but saying all pets now suck because they removed the armour off of graul maulers bumped their CL up a bit and reduced their kinetic to 30% is just not an accurate portrayal of the CH profession.
if you want to learn how to take on high level content with minimal amounts of team members i would be happy to show you how it is done. but i am truly tired of reading how much CH sucks when it simply isnt true. even before the very first CH nerf pets could not handle high end content on their very own without support. so saying that because CH now requires the CH to become involved in combat to a great degree is a bad thing is wrong and just drags the profession down further. it paints a very patently false picture of the true state of CH.
