Yeah, sucks, huh? Looks like its /burstrun across the lava for the rest of our toons.
Seriously, there's also a lava skiff that's a quest reward, so you're not totally SOL.
But you have to actually be able to get to the quest to be able to do it. The lava is deadly and the flea is the only way, until you can get the lava skiff.

yup,
the devs said that the only ways to travel ON lava was the lava skiff (not to be confused with the desert skiff),

You have to HAVE a flea to use a flea. And you need to USE a flea so you can get to all the places you need to go to complete the lava skiff quest. The skiff (lava) is a reward from a dungeon and you need to do several missions in order to get to that point.
One flea per account, 2 characters on one server = need one more flea
YES, it was just stated in the HOC chat thing that fleas and dessert skifs can be traded..so...its back to teh barc scean, tiem to find newbies!!. I neglected to try to tame a lv60 laval flea..let hope we can. ahhah

And what someone else said is right, you can get everywhere on mustafar without a lava flea, just takes longer, it takes 3 pulses of lava to kill you, more if there's land in the middle or something and you can stop and heal. But if you misjudge it's cloner time.
I have successfully crossed lava drifts with barc speeder when they are short.
Ooh, on another note, the skiff might be invulnerable to lava damage... (someone said they saw an announcement but didn't post a link to it) which would solve the 2 toons problem if you preorder.
