With all the baby killing over the last month, isn't it more fitting?

Anakin: Master, I think my lightsaber is getting dull. Its not doing nearly as much damage as it used to.
Obi-Wan: O.k. when we're done showing the youglings around the temple, we'll stop by the bazaar and you can buy a new crystal. I hope you've got a couple million credits saved up for this.
Anakin: WHAT?!!?? I don't have THAT kind of cash!
Obi-Wan: Well you could try sharpening it on these younglings. I've got a headache and all their questions are driving me NUTS!
Anakin: hmmm.... Sharpen my lightsaber on younglings...... hmmmmmm.....
Obi-Wan: uh, that was a joke Anakin. I'll spot you the cash for a new crystal THIS time, but next time you're on your own.

I don't kill them. I use the "catch and release" method.

When you destroy the datapad icon, it says you release your pet back into the wild... who's actually killing babies?! Tame the little buggers!

Yeah, thats what we all WANT to believe.

In actuality, it FIRST asks you if you want to destroy the baby.
So what you're really releasing to back to the wild is just a carcass.

Actually I can remember from very early in the game the Dev's stating that one of the minor changes (to them) they wanted to make was to get rid of the "destroy" tab and change it to something like "release". They gave some lame excuse about having to gather several changes like that before they could implement though and never got back to making the change.

So I just ignore the "destroy" wording and go by the message that says "you release your pet back into the wild".

What I would really like to see is an animation of the pet spawning and running off, but then again that would just be a source of creating more lag on the server so i can use my imagination (remember what that is kiddos?) and picture in my minds eye my pet running off, stopping and turning to look at me, then turning back around and hightailing it into the wilds LOL.

Actually the only thing you are destroying is the data that is stored in your datapad after the pet is spawned and released.

And here I thought the destroy notify was just for the control device that it says it places in your datapad when you tame it...

It's the control device that's being destroyed. I need to explain that distinction to my niece, every so often. Otherwise, I get dirty looks.

Well of course you're going to destroy the control device!

You've already clicked on "YES" when it asked if you REALLY wanted to destroy the baby.
What good is a pet control device for a pet that you just slaughtered?

Way back there actually was a Release command that you could train as an audible command. However, because there was no clear indication as to what it did, people got confused and upset when issuing it suddenly caused their pets to disappear. I can't remember if the pets actually ran off or not (or stood around in the wild). Getting senile...
