I would like to see a credit purge as part of the Combat Revamp. The reasons are simple. AFKer Buffbots have made the most of the looped macros. For them the end game was reached through inactivity. Players who are active could reach the tycoon status of the AFKers if they played 24/7/365.
My recommendation is that any toon will be purge credits leaving a max of 300K per toon. PA Halls and City Halls will be purged up to 1Mil credits. If SOE is truthfully wishing to balance everything then it is time for a clean start.
Would love to see peoples input and feedback.

By purging our credits they would be purging their own as people might get mad and quit the game, hehe.

And what about those of us who have never used an AFK macro? I hardly even know how to put together a running macro (as I found out in-game not too long ago)
I'm certainly no tycoon, but I've made a few million creds doing missions, hunting, selling resources, loot. Over the past year plus, I've spent a lot of time and effort earning those creds. I would be none too pleased to see a credit purge.
The use of AFK macros has been abused. My radical opinion is that AFK macros should never have been allowed in the game. But they were, and I'm not sure that now there is really any fair solution.

One of my toons has managed to make a cool 20mill without the use of macros (gradually accumulating loot items and selling them on), so I guess I would be more than a little disappointed to see that go.
On the other side of the coin it would put an end to ridiculous prices cos people wouldn't be able to pay em...
Although this might ultimately be for the good of the game from the non-exploiting players perspective, I'm sure the ensuing dip in income would cause Sony to give this a wide berth.
I'd much rather see a purge on jedi ! (Yeah right!)

Pluto, the only afk macro I've ever used was one to keep me logged in when I was busy with toon #1 and toon #2 was idle.
Otherwise, I just don't use macros. I ground to master architect without using a single crafting macro. Same with CM and Doctor on two different avatars (see sig).
So don't even think about lowering my bank account earned the old fashioned way (missions, selling resources, etc) to punish others.

Interesting suggestion. I have made millions without being AFK. I have been playing the character since release. I made a ton on mounts when they first came out. I was also a Weaponsmith, Architect, and other professions. I can make over 2 million credits per buff session if the right resources spawn on the right planets. I routinely get paid 50CPU for meat or hide. I made 10 million in two days when the Dath Carn meat was Uber. The wipe might or might not lower the price of meat.
The big problem you will have is that as soon as there is a hint this is going to happen people will just turn the credits into resalable goods. They will buy up everything they can find at practically any price. Then put down a few large houses full of armor, loot, food, and weapons and so on. After the wipe, they have everything they need. A few days later, they have millions again. You would have to wipe everything armor, weapons, loot, and probably pets both wild and BE to make it fair. I do not think the Customer Base wants to return to June 03. If you do not wipe everything the only people who will be harmed are those that do not pay attention, the noobs, and the people that do not have millions of credits. You would also have to severly nerf the mission terminals or I can run missionsfor 32k per for a few hours and be back in business.
Basically, this would mean starting over from scratch and hoping that SOE has learned something from the past. I would not bet on that how ever. The Jedi would whine, the BH would whine, and it would just start all over again. We would still be nerffed and the FOTM would still get all the attention as would the whiners.

I do see some benefits and drawbacks
money is easy to come by for many people who have played for a while and the influx of such large quantities of money has driven prices higher on most servers. For new players it is very hard to advance in many areas.
It will be all to easy for people to regain they're former trillionare status lol, personally ive been a millionare many times and if I wanted could regain a mil credits in a day of mokk missions.
many people sold and or did missions for the credits they have today and it may not be fair to them, although price fixing and gouging is rampant I dont see this as a solution to the problem from a long term perspective and I dont really have a solution myself.
my vote is undecided at this time, think i need to sit on this one and ponder a few days lol

As a relatively new player, this sounds like a great idea to me - the economy on the server is so sever that a new player struggles their way through the "deliver" and low level "destroy" missions for hours just to buy something better than a CDEF blaster
. All economies are going to hit a massive brick wall when the Combat "Upgrade" happens, and making 1 mil credits in a buff session won't be possible anymore, and soitems at 100k apiece will be too expensivefor many.
A reset on the economy which is so badly out of line on most servers sounds good, but wiping everyone's credits down to a predetermined level sounds unfair. A lot of credits could be taken out of the game by scaling everyone's accounts down by a factor of 10, and some bonuses added depending on some aspects of a character. Badges could be a good one - but then everyone would be POI gathering all of a sudden, lol... There's no easy way to do it, but something needs to be done about the economy - it's way out of whack.

we might see a real economic adjustment with JTL.
ships in space take:
ore, steel, and more. you put down a harvester, and it turns credits into resources. money sink.
blueprints... to take to a chassis dealer... to buy a deed. money sink.
repairs... money sink.
a player in space won't be using the mission terminals on the ground to run Janta missions for 300k+/hour.
a player won't be spending 10k in shuttle fees daily... but I'm not sure that shuttle fees were ever a major credit sink for the economy.
space missions and kills do NOT generate the same income that many players are used to seeing.
I think that the overall trend will be towards a smaller credit surplus. only time will tell.

actually I would be annoyed at a character purge, but on the other hand it would be interesting to see a server start from the begining again once the balance is done.

This would be a very interesting experiment, one I might strongly consider participating in.
For one thing, for a long time there would be no Jedi around to screw things up.
For another thing, the fortunes would be made under the current set of rules not under the old ones.

Another thing that would be great to see is mandatory levels of artisan for levels of miners. Would hurt the congomerates that are made up of Combat-Non-Combat but would do less to Non-Non.

Hmm if I understand the economy right this is how the credit flow works
CombatPlayers>Crafters/The void
Crafters>Crafters/The void
Combat players run missions so they can pay formatenance on houses anduberweapons, armor, and buffs then the crafters put that money into matenance on harvesters/houses so they can make said uberweapons, armor, and buffs.
Ok so the problem with this is that the influx of money into the economy is much greater than the influx out. So heres my solution
Step 1lower mission payouts by taking the normal reward and dividing it by 20 so a mission that is normally 30k is now 6k
Step 2 double or even triple matenance
Step3 impliment the CB
Step4 monitor the credit flow of the economy and when it lowers to reasonable levels again simply undo the changes.
