Creature Handler Archive
Thread: Is this what creature handlers really have to deal with and from one of our own?
Generally, yes.
Non-creature handlers don't see why or how we hunt. Grind groups (especially at the MOP) are speed freaks. They rush to the mission, destroy it quickly, then move to the next. They don't want to wait for pets to be called, pets to be stored, or for the occassional time to tame a baby. Also, normal or decent creature handlers will generally be "babying" their pets. Watching their health, making sure they get in hits, healing them, etc.
I'm expecting to face some problems at the MO on Dant, but I"ve been pretty lucky that I'm still on friendly terms with a Rebel guild that is doing regular grind groups for their Jedi XP, so I get to call my pets and use them there.
That's something to consider, see if you can find a guild that is grinding. They are often more friendly towards a CH than the grind groups that form on Dant.
I almost never use my pets in groups anymore, partially because I am working the FS trees and need only pistols and combat xp at this point, but also because of the inevitable complaints and people'sflat-out unwillingness to allow for their presence. It seems like I could pull out a baby kreetle and some slob is going to complain that it's "in his way" and tell me to put it back in my datapad where it belongs.
At this point, I only use my pets to help me play solo or to help round out groups that are on specific high-end missions (my CL70 Graul has taken more chunks out of NK's behind than he cares to count).

And for crying out loud use small pets! There is nothing more annoying than having some clueless CH pull out their kimogila in the middle of a spin group...
No matter how annoying it is it's still fun
That is not of any help to you, I know, just to show you there are also positive experiences to be had.
Just remember, there are antisocial people in every profession, blame it on that single player, not on their tag.

Sure and while were at it lets all make sure those dumb commandos put away any AOE weapon, cause there is nothing more annoying than a lone commando noob aggroing the entire lair and getting everyone killed. Hey lets also make sure CMs dont use area heals beccause it causes so much lag, and while were at it lets also make sure Jedi dont use light sabers or force powers, cause all those bright flashy effects annoy me.........................
Or how about we let everyone use whatever pet they want to level.
You don't want to grind with a group who discriminates. I am appalled at the "High Level" only groups that form at MO. These groups don't hesitate to invite you if your level 70 and above, but will only take the token lower level character at the last minute if the action is slow at MO and all their guildmates are currently engaged in other activities and aren't on their way to join.
If you don't care one way or the other, just make sure you change your character title to your alternate combat profession (Hopefully a Master level title) and keep your pet's hidden until you arrive onthesceneof the lair and have the pet /follow or /guard the group's tank and play dumb about it. Disbanding the group won't solve the mystery of "Who's pet is this?"
Have fun, name the pet before hand "ImWithStupid" and stand close to your vicitm before calling the pet. You victim moves into position for the lair spin, your there too with everyone else for the area bacta spray, and the xp grind begins. ![]()
To be complete the anonymous control of the pet, please use the /tellpet commands. Make single key macros of each /tellpet command you need to use for a grinding group. This way your commands arn't spamming the spatial chat window.
You know, I play on the most heavely populated server in SWG, which is both bad..and ..bad. anyway, I have never been denighed a grind/spin/ or aoe group from teh MO. granted I am a MCH/MBH/CM4000, but I wear my CH tags, adn run aroudn with a stun baton, so its not liek I am flaunting the fact that can use ranged weapons. In anycase, if I get even the slightest hint of grief from another player, I simply state "You are a XXXXX, u useXXXXXX to do damadge. I am a MCH, I use pets to do damadge. If you will also notice I am standing right in the middle of this swarm of plicktes, HEALING YOU!! if you do not like that I have my two rancors out, tough! I realize that they are distracting, and they do not seem to be doing much, but infact they are generating hate away from you. If I leave thi sgroup, it apears that you will only have XXXX to keep you alive. is that what you are requesting?" I have only had to do this twice. most groups that I am in are very cool with the fact that I run pets. I try not to pull my kimo out, unless requested to, but I do not hesitate to pull two or three fambas, if they have a skill I want. I tend to run with teh same 30 or so people, so they all knwo that I try to keep everyoen heald, or will pull my gun if/when it gets hairy, but I also try to make it a point to mention the fact that I will be working m y pets, that I will pull weapons when needed, but mostly just healing. Iknow I am diffrent than alot fo CH with one full combat proff, but generally I thikn if you respect others, they will respect you, if they give you lip, shrug it off, do your thing, an dif they threaten you, just leave, it will coem back eventually, when they are in need, adn you are sitting in your camp watching them get ganked by durnys.
for those who are jsut working pets for skills, adn have problums, I have found that if you OFFER to work the group members pets ( as long as they do nto keep you from doing what you need to do) that people will generally be more open. This is not to say that you actually have to do it, just offer soem CH service to the group, then it seems most players are liek " hey, cool, I dotn have apet, but it snice to know i could benifit from a ch in the group"
