Thread: HTF do I grind!!?
CH grinding is a lot slower than the other professions by far. It is not something for those with little patience
This true, before the cu i spent all my time taming, training and releasing wild pets to get the ch xp to fill the boxes.
You have to love ch to master it ![]()
Ch is a lot of work just to get master and to make even harder and more time consuming we have to level our pets instead of just letting them grow with time, A CL 70 Bolma needs over 400k xp points to roll over to get 1 slot and they can have 12-13 slots thats 5.2+ million xp points to level 1 pet, If you get with a good group that dosnt mind you only using your pet to hunt and not attacking also you get about 5k per kill which comes out to 1040 kills, Just to level your pet add another 2000 kills to grind out ch
My best advice to give new ch's is Figure out how much time they play and how much of that time do they want to commit to grinding, Ch can take a 2-3 weeks or it can take months
grinding is not that hard, even for ch. all u have to do is just use the weapon that u want to get xp ONLY. that also includes healing. for ch only use ur pet and u will get the max xp. i mastered ch in 4 days and even got 4 specials. the key is to ONLY use ur pet nothing else.
The ammount of CH xp you receive is based on the ratio of damage both you and your pet(s) do. If you do 50 percent of the damge and your pets do 50 percent, you will receive half the xp as combat/weapons and the other half as CH xp.
If your pet solo kills a mob 10 or more levels below it's CL, you will receive only 1 xp just as if you had killed a mob 10 or more levels below you.
I recently helped a guildie go from CH 0003 to master in a few hours doing grind groups (not even spinning). Just let your pets attack, you yourself do not attack so you get the full ammount of xp as CH xp, and you'll skyrocket through the ranks as fast as you would grinding any other combat profession.
Just make sure your pets attacks AND HITS (key words) every mob. If it attacks and misses, it does zero damage and thus you get no xp for it.

Be sure to check with the other group members if they mind if you work on ch xp
This is a good point. When Sio was grinding CH, he announced to the group that he was ONLY going to be contributing damagefrom a pet to get max CH XP, but in a crisis he'd pull out the scatter or contribute heals to keep others alive.
One of my personal measures of success in a group is that no one incaps.
Once you've reached MCH, however, and accumulating CH XP is not a factor anymore (unless you really need to to bank FS senses XP), you can use your personal weapons and grind up the pet, the pet needs to get a hit in on each mob of a lair to get it's max XP, and the damage you do is irrelevant. Be sure get a hit on the lair with the pet, too. Big XP in lairs for pets. Lower level pets (level 1-5 or so)can get multiple rollover XP from a lair, which makes picking up a special from them or getting them to full size very easy.
Heres the Befriend Trick
First you need to find a CL 1 Player "Entertainers work the best" have them meet you in one of the noob city's like bestine or mos eisley then do this.
#1 Target the CL 1 Player and give your pet the befriend command
#2 Have the CL1 Player give your pet the group command "Do Not Group With Them Yourself" it has to be only the CL1 and your pet, the cl1 can go into the cantina and run there own dance or music macro
#3 You can either run around the city killing the lvl 1-3 targets "most people call them yard trash" for fast xp
Important info on this
#1 This will only give your pet xp not you
#2 And the higher the level pet the better a cl 10 pet will get about 700 points per kill while a cl 50+ will get close to 5000 points per kill
#3 This is a very fast way to level your pet but it is very boring I reccomend running a macro on one of the many spawn spots, you can completely lvl a 60-70 pet in about 3-5 hours
Heres a very good macro to use, just find a spot and adjust your veiw so you get as much of the spawn spot in site but be sure you not targeting anything over cl5 and no more than 50m away.
heres the macro "I placed the icon in the very top left box on my tool bar"
/target self;
/pause 1;
/cycleTargetOutward;
/pause 0;
/tellpet attack;
/pause 7;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
Hope this helps
