I see more and more posts about people who leave the game. I have a little advice to you newer players. "Do not grind" I have played this game for over a year as a MCH and still enjoy it. I do not grind! You do not need to grind to be successful.

I am a leader of a great guild, Mayor of a fun town, one of the richest players in my town, own most every rare item in game, have an amazing collection of rare and extinct pets, have a ton of badges, and still look forward to my game time. The point I am making is have fun slow down play other games too. The fastest way to get burned out with SWG is to grind day after day.

The game offers a lot of fun things to do. Go out and explore the galaxy and keep the grinding to a minimum. Power gamers do not seem to last. This is a fun game dispite it's flaws so have fun.

Well said Ecco. I agree there is a ton to see and do. If you really want to enjoy the game find someone with a different perspective and travel with them. I took a female from our guild sight seeing on several planets, something she didn't do because she has no combat skills to protect herself.Through her I saw aspects of the game I never noticed when racing from mission to mission to gather resources. The game has some fantastic graphics and extremely detailed worlds so just spend evenings enjoying the sights, it is worth it.

Also there are a large number of players who have not seen all the movies or even like them that much. Try watching the movies again. It is amazing and fun all the stuff from the movies in game. Down to even little things like clothes and drinking glasses. There is stuff from all the movies too. The more I watch them the more I see. It is pretty amazing.

Definitely right, I've been playing since launch and I never once opened a holocron. I've mastered 3 profs and had fun doing

them, taking my time and playing THE GAME. It is just a game, and it is supposedto be fun. Grinding most definitely is

not fun. I like to take a little time off and play Doom3 and such, when I was getting a little bored, but only for a day or so.

And most importantly, its about the people you meet and play with on the server that makes it worthwhile.

There are a lot of good people out there. Good post, Ecco!

I find it a bit odd that a person who made MCH back before all the nerfs and major overhaul says not to grind.
Easy words to say considering you had it easy.
Back before all those nerfs you didnt have to grind, it was fun fast and easy. You could take your time to level and enjoy the sights at the same time. You leveled up at a fairly fast pace and there WAS no need to grind.
Everyone puts too much emphasis these days on having fun while leveling, what about having fun as a master.
I made master CH before the nerfs and overhaul turned it into a grind.
I have fun AS a master CH and with the leveling behind me I can concentrate on the finer aspects of the game.
Such as GCW,quests, roleplaying, finding rare pets to tame, exploring without fear, meeting new friends and many more.Yes you can experience these while leveling but it so much more fun as a master.
The end game is not MASTER, thats only the begining. There are a lot of things to do AS a master.
IMHO there is no end game,it is an ever evolving MMORPG.
As master CH,guild leader, mayor and a rich player you are still enjoying the game with the leveling behind you.
Nothing stops the grinders from achieving the same results.Grinding is boring and burns people out fast that is true BUT they wouldnt have had to grind if the Devs had not changed the system. You grew up in a system where there was no need to grind to get master CH,that system has changed.
This game was praised way back then for its ease of leveling,It was fun to level. Now its a chore to level.
Leveling should not be dragged out to keep players paying.
New things to do such as quests, new planets etc etc should help keep the players occupied but shouldnt be a players main focus.
Having fun with other players and creating your own story in a story will keep more players in this game than anything the devs could ever devise.

I made it to master CH post nerfage and I would have the same advice. If you get bored with repeditive tasks, stop doing them. Grinding is for the impatient and the suckers of the world with one exception (those who enjoy grinding should grind). Personaly I hate grinding unless I'm doing it with an AFK macro in which case its easy. I never did CH that way because I enjoy fighting and taming pets. Making fiberplast panels on the other hand is dullsville.

Anyhow, I've little need to grind combat professions, there are always lots of good reasons to go out fighting stuff. Fighting the same stuff all the time is just boring and pointless. Crafting professions are fun once you master them. Combat professions can be fun no matter what level you are at because you can find a challenge of some kind to meet your skill level.

The folks who do nothing but grind are motivated by one thing. Being UBER LEET super dudes who WIN the game. Bleh... no point in a role playing game for that kind of non-sense.

Not true. Some of them yes, but some of them grind to get the leveling behind them so they can enjoy the rest of the game.
You took 1 small paragraph of mine and commented on it when the post needs to be taken as a whole.
Many gamers out there complain about the leveling treadmills most online games have. When SWG first came out that was one thing many people commented on being done right.

I have to disagree, and you said it yourself. Nothing stops the grinders from achieving the same results. I "grew up" as MCH pre-nerf. I started playing SWG about a month after release with one of my goals being MCH. Which took me a bit less then 2 months. It took me that long because I didn't "grind", just had fun playing the game. I've read posts where people say they've made MCH in 2 weeks! Even under present xp system, I imagine anyone can make MCH in 2 months. So, no one has to "grind" away at anything. It's not like there's some kind of time limit. Just in the normal course of playing the game and having fun, anyone can master anything. It'll just take longer than 2 weeks.

Read my post above yours.
People have a habit of picking apart posts and commenting on 1 small paragraph when the post needs to be taken as a whole.

I must say I ground out MCH for awhile at the Squill caves which took forever but I did meet a few people and had a wonderfull time doing it. Youd be suprised at how little people in groups down their interact, but with a littlechatter will open up. I met one girl leveling up pikeman (Never cross a PMSing female with a pike *shudder*) after a bit of chatting and semi sweettalking I found out she was a doc and not only buffed me but I mean almost contimually buffed me every day for about a week. I never used a pets stim down their and almost never cloned while she was thier. After awhile I moved ont o the geo caves to finish off master and had alot of fun chatting with some jedi down their another thing that made the geo caves more exciting was the fact that I went completely unbuffed and unarmored.

I had alot of fun with my grind to MCH all together id say it took me a little over a week to master and now I get to enjoy the game and sights as a MCH and if im ever out sightseeing and I run across a baby I want to tame I no loner have to worry about its level being to high. Which reminds me that I need to go back to Yavin and pick up a crystal snake
