Just curious how long it takes you guys to tame 65+ creatures.... Did like 30 tries on ancient flier tonight with no luck..I general I could not tame anything over lvl 65 for 1.5 hours...

I have +25/25 clothes.. but I have hard time finding food.

As of yet, I have no taming clothes. Still havent figured out where to buy any on Starsider. Took me 90 minutes one day to tame a level 69 Flier on Dath, and just yesterday took me 1 hour and 40 minutes to tame a level 70 recluseive mite of some sorts also on dath. It can take a while heh.

To do it in any reasonable time you need the BE clothes (should be reapparing on vendors now the tailors got fixed) and the food.

However, I beleive it is very wrong that to do the basic action of our profession , tame (the first skill you get at novice CH) you are required to purchase food to be successful.

Yes it should help, no ,it should not be essential to the action.

With food and clothes, I tame a 65+ in about 10 to 12 tries, I get frustrated long before I tame without.

I tamed an ancient reptilian flyer cl 69 first try on an impulse hop off my swoop. I had no clothes or food. Other times I have tried and been attacked, tried and failed, multiple times when all tooled up in full clothing. Go figure.

It seems so random - but in a way that's part of the fun and the challenge.

its all random some will come quickly and some will take time Ancient Rep flier 6 tries , bloodseeker queen took 18+ tries so its all random with or withought clothes ...I dont use clothes and have never had a problem taming a pet...I dont think the clothes work ...I would like to test my theory on lowca if you are a CH and go out and tame with you just to see how much clothes actually help ...Contact me in game if you want to test it out

I always read these threads with a certain measure of disbelief. If I spend more than 10 minutes to tame *anything*, something has gone horribly and unusually wrong - even if it's a level 69 vicious beast.

Yes, MCH gives you decent Taming and Taming Vicious mods. With good BE clothes, you can increase those mods to the +25 limit. With foods, it goes even higher. So buy those clothes and buy that food. My clothes give me the +25 to Taming and Taming Vicious, and the food I have right now (almond kwevu crisp) is another +18. But here's what I believe is the real trick:

I have Taming Bonus attachments that give me a +25 Taming Bonus mod. Wookiees start with a native +10 as a race benefit, but my MCH is human, so I presume I've maxed it. Comparing my own experience with the stories other CHs tell on this board, this has made a significant difference and has made my life as a CH far easier.

Given how important taming has become again, buy Taming Bonus attachments *now*. I can only imagine that the demand (and therefore the prices) will be increasing, if they haven't already. Trust me, it's way better to spend your time *looking* for babies than *taming* them.

I don't understand what the problems you all are having are, or why people are saying you need food. I've been taming anything and everything I have come across the past few days, and as the last poster said, nothing has taken more than 10 minutes. Just get a pair of +25 taming pants and go - no food needed.

I have convinced myself that the BE clothes really help but I can not say that the food helps. I'm not sure I have noticed a difference and usually do not bother with the food.

I don't bother with the food, and only have moderate attachment bonuses. Until last night, I was a 4444.....finally got my master back!! Wooohooo!! I was only able to tame up to level 60 and was usually successful after less than 10 tries on pets 59 and lower. I have no intention of buying food to be successful at my profession.

Average of about 5

My CHis a wookie +10 taming

Attacments+24 taming

BE clothes +25 taming wild + 25 taming viscous

I also youse the food at +18

So it gets nuts with all my mods getting so many failures.

3 or 4 with 1 pair of +25/+25 taming pants. You'd be suprized the differance 1 set of Ithorian Bellbottoms will make.

FYI, I'm pretty sure you effectively cap at +25 on any skill enhancement, even if the skill shows an enhancement above that. Racial bonuses are supposed to effectively add on top of the +25, but you're wasting your time and resources with the food and extra attachments if you're already at +25 for both taming types.

But as to the original question, the highest level creature I've tamed was a CL68 BF Boar Wolf. That (amazingly enough) only took two tries. And I an a wookiee with the +25/+25 taming clothes. That being said, I've tried on other occasions on lower CL creatures and sometimes it takes considerably more tries (and patience).
