Thread: Creature Handler isn't so bad

After reading many posts and talking to others who had done CH I really thought that it was gonna suck but here's the part others might not have thought of or iftheywere justHolo-grinding the profession (not that that's a bad thing if Jedi is what your goal is). Combat professions are mostly what I've done in my time on this game and that gets old. Anyone who has done crafting professions knows that they aren't the most exciting either. Well Creature Handler adds an extra twist to the game. I just love the feeling of hunting for that next pet. Especially when it is a rare one. Neither combat or crafting has compared to the feeling of hitting /mask and tip-toeing between 5 red dots on the radar to get that next baby. Knowing that at any moment you might be noticed and end up as a piece of swiss cheese heading back to the cloning center. It's quite a rush especially when you manage to make it out with the baby. I originallystarted this profession just to add another to my collection but afterdoing this for a couple of weeks I think I'm gonna hold on to it for a while. Just thought I'd share this with all my fellow CH's.

I am glad you are enjoying this profession, I am glad someone is. Tip-toe all you want, I hate CH. Boring as it gets, for me IMHO.

I knew that was gonna happen. I finally read a good positive post about CH, one that makes me wish I could be online now out looking for rares and zap another person who "hates" CH is on the CH forums. Something just isnt right about that. Well, enough of that, I hate crafting, I got to go over there and see whats going on .

The reason you have stated is the reason most of those that are staying have decided to stay. I've been an MCH since a month after release and hardly do any combat anymore. It can take me 10 minutes to take down mobs that others can take down in seconds.

The part of hunting babies is the only good thing about CH. I keep CH also because
it's cool. But there are many many bad things in this profession and we are near to
'useless'.

Miowik,

I'll admit that I'm a lurker on these boards and have felt the same as you. I just FINALLY trained novice creature handler a couple weeks ago and it has bumped my fun level in this game tremendously. I'm more of a casual player so its taken me a long time to earn the scout xp needed. I couldn't agree more with your post. I am having a blast finding babies and the thrill of taming them. Now that I'm a bit more advanced 1213 I'm heading out to more dangerous places to build my collection. Thank you for the positive post. I've been feeling a bit depressed about my CH choice ever since I started reading this forum. There are many people in this forum that love the profession (you can tell) even though they are a bit frustrated with the details of its implementation. But it was nice to hear someone come out and say what I have been feeling as well. Thanks.

Maybe I'll feel differently once I've advanced further? But my goal isn't to be an uber player so comparisons with other professions isn't something that I focus on much. Hopefully, that'll keep me from getting too frustrated as I advance.

Oh, but don't get me wrong... pet storing and not listening to commands are very frustrating and I hope they are fixed. There are details/bugs to be addressed which put a damper on the fun. But overall, this is the profession I really wanted to play and I'm really enjoying it.

If you're power gaming, nope, not much use in those.

But they are subtle and insidious. A player who neglects secondaries can find himself in a world of hurt in a fight.

I just want to say I was back in my glory for the 1st time since the big nerf patch on CH.

A Master Medic/Master TKM buddy of mine sent me a tell this past weekend because he needed help taking down a Peko Peko Albatross because he was having trouble with it since it has medium armor and is 100% kinetic resist

Granted I am Master Gunfighter/Master CH and he needed my pistol skills with the DX2 and the bird is only 20% resist to that but it still had like 70+ K of HAM on it.

Anyway, there was only 4 of us and we needed a good tank to hold off the Peko while we beat on it for seemed like 90 minutes and like 7 resurrect's for me alone later that we finally brought it down.

Brought out my Level 43 BE Kimogila with light armor and 60% kinetic resist to be the sacrificial tank to hold off the Peko.....woo hoo was it fun to be CH again.....I was needed yet again

I had fun

My intention was never to state that the Creature Handler profession was perfect or an uber profession. I'm simply stating that it's a fun alternative to the same boring crap. I'll be the first to admit that this profession could use a little loving with stuff such as the runaway pet syndrome or the auto-storing but, if you look at any other profession in the game none are like this with the exception of Bio Engineer. Personally though I have more fun creeping into a nest full of critters and taming a creature than creeping into a nest to get some DNA. The bottom line is that it's all about how you look at it. Some people see the glass as half full and others see the glass as half empty. I'm enjoying myself though and that's all I really wanted to share.

Take it easy on him. This happens all the time, CH reallyIS fun in the beginning, it's the experienced MCH's mostly that are hating it. Once you master it and get a couple rares, you're done, unless you're a collector. My best friend in game is a tka/doc, and I'm too embarassed to tell you how fast he embarassed my full grown Bull Rancor.

If you're enjoying it, then good for you!

I completely agree Miowik. Nothing compares to getting that baby while your mask scent is on and there are red dots all around you. The feeling I get when that green text tells me I have a new pet is like a junkie gettinghis fix. I love it I'm hooked.

People need to realize that pub8 is combat balance and they have already "balanced" CH. Thats prolly why we areuseless in pvp. Plus I think they will put 1/4 damage to pets in .

Nice post, sgt0802. I feel the same way about stalking down and taming those babies.
