Correct. That was one and there were others. You could store pets right before they died and also do things like get into a duel with someone and then whip out a pet and other "suprise!" poke-pet maneuvers.

The other part of this equation is that camps have changed a lot since their original design as well - - that was why Holo thought it would be a good idea to lift the restrictions.

As part of the camp changes, we'll see these in Publish 7. I can't wait

Well, you can't store pets in combat or for a minute afterward. And I don't believe you can call a pet once you are in combat.

Besides, if it were doable, I'd rather face a pet than face a novice tailor who just happens to be a TKM or Commando.

After waiting three weeks for an answer to the question, I'd at least have hoped the answer would make sense.

you can tell thunderheart never plays this game because what he said is already not possible. still waiting for a GOOD reason.

Fantoq is right,

You already have to wait 60 seconds after a pet is not in combat to store it, and you CAN'T call a pet if you are in combat.

This explanation doesn't make any sense with the existing restrictions already in game. I don't suppose they are going to actually lift the 60 second restriction and change it to 30?

I've read and re-read TH's answer. He can't be that out of touch. The only thing I can conclude is that he's playing a different game than we are. Seriously, maybe there's some version even beyond the beta test center - agamma version maybe -that we don't know about where the rules are completely different.

Though Isupposeanother possibility is that I'm that out of touch. I've played SWG since about the 3rd week of release and have been a CH for months, but there are still lots of things I bet I don't know about the game. Maybe there are exploits I've never heard of that allow one to call and store pets at whim regardless of the circumstances. It's possible. I would sooner believe that the world really is flat, but it's possible.

As I read the exchange I got the impression that the pulling or storing of pets in combat was by using an exploit. I've never seen or heard of these exploits, but if they exist wouldn't it make more sense to fix the exploit rather than penalize the 99% of the CHs who don't use the exploit?

I'm a BE as well as a CH, and I sell a lot of pets. It is really going to suck to be trying to show a potential customer a pet and have to ask them to hang around while the pet decides to make an appearance. "I've got a pet in here I think you would like, but he's kind of shy. If all you kids in the audience applaud real loud he might come out of my backpack."

Thunderheart talked the CH community into the last great nerf. I have no respect for him because he will not demand specials and ranged attacks be fixed. We were supposed to get a little love with the nerf. Never happened. And now this. I, like a few others would rather just keep the tents. There is already the latency bug that wont allow a pet to show as stored for 10 seconds.

So what we have is
Store "must wait 60 seconds"
Call "This would exceed your ability to control" Latency bug
Call "Your pet will not appear for 30 seconds"

Thunderheart, If you had been on the EQ team, I certainly would have lost faith in SOE sooner. There are no more time sinks you can put in this game that will affect me (the arrival of Middle Earth Online is all im waiting for and thats a self imposed time sink). You do not take advice at all from our community. Your agenda is well documented in the forums. You will not make sure your own statements are true. You do not even venture to understand the CH community. You couldnt find your bum with a road map, a flash light and a swift kick.

Thunderheart for saying that someone could in the past suddenly pull out a pet and suprise someone show that you lack any critical thinking abilities to realize some shooter professions are constantly switching weapons A LA Carbine Fire KD to LLC once i cannot get up anymore. Plain and simple your an idiot. Poke this noob. Troll somewhere else. You want inflammatory, im on fire.

Ive yet to see my BH's LLC take 50% vitality hits in one PVP battle or Duel. Yet you continue to make it worse for the one profession it consistently happens too. I hope you realize you are the biggest joke left in this game Thunderheart. Noone else may tell you. You may still have a few Fan Bois. The rest of us know if you open your mouth its a lie or CH is getting nerfed.

I've had so many situations in the past few weeks where this would be a disaster. This doesn't seem to be thought through at all.

Will pets now appear in the middle of combat? If so, I'll start dueling people right away. Pick a likely target, call the pet wait about 15 seconds, invite the duel, start the duel, and poof, pet appears.

On the flip side, if pets won't appear in combat, pull up close to a lair, call the pet to do a mission, poof another lair appears on top of you and its aggro mob attacks you. Now you're a sitting duck if the pet doesn't appear.

Or pull up with a group to a mission and someone crosses the mystical aggro line by mistake and the battle starts. By the time the pet appears, the battle is over and you just lost any CH xp for the first round of the mission.

This concept is so dumb it's hard to imagine that we're even needing to have a discussion on it. But alas, we are.

I have a better solution: Keep the current restrictions in place. Fix the autostore bug. Fix the broken follow. Fix the pet running out of call range.

But apparently, it's easier to add another time sinkand decrease playablilty than to have the game work as it should.

I love ch( I am almost a master), but I am tired of watching my profession get nerfed. **edit** up the swrodsmans prof some more they are going to get **edit**ed soon enough, or how about DE's(b/c they can't do **edit** anyways and to get to a lvl 1 box is **edit**ing insane). I swear I wish you would fix us rather than break us(we're the equivalnet of DE's w/ living pets). Another thing, this "red dragon " BS about a bull rancor is just crap. They don't have superb stats, if they are so rare they should deal out tons of damage and have awesome stats.

Yes he can, he refers to Pikeman as a Hybrid profession

Im still not sure why its taking two months to change this one little bit of code (the need for camps) that will benifit the entire playerbase in general (from us CH, to the jedi or artisans without any scout skills).

This is infuriating.

SOE's policy for CH's is to treat us like mushrooms. Keep us in the dark and feed us lots of feces.

okkkk i cant store a pet for 60 seconds after the pet has stopped fighting. i CAN call other pets after i immediatly end combat and i am not currently fighting or being engaged by another person/creature. i can also call pets if i have not yet met my max pet level if my current pet is in combat but i am not. sooooo. please splain to me how just removing the pet calling restriction and keeping the other rules inplace would require a further waiting period to get pets??

for a while there were no restrictions on calling pets outside town. people could call mutliple pets and "surprise" people. how is this any different than being in town?? there was a exploit then that allowed people to call multiple pets but it had nothing to do with being outside a city as they could do it in a city just as easily. so why the extra timer?? doesnt make any sense to me.

Barb, it doesn't make sense to any of us, which is why there is such a hue and cry about this.

Though it sucks to think of it this way, it SEEMS because the CH population wanted something that TH did not want to give us, and we won with him hemmin and hawin it was their way as always to give us something and take away more. Doesnt seem like they can give something good to any profession without Taking something More in return. You would think they would try and make the game more fun, instead of more Frustrating... There is NO reason for the extra timer, and TH's lack of response past his Pokemon comment and lack of ability to come up with ANY VALID reason for adding the Timer, just makes the whole thing that much more Frustrating.

Maybe someday SoE will see to it The Bones they have TH thow to us has some meat attached. Lately there isn't even Marrow...
