Thread: do we have to spec in ranger to get an effective mask scent now to work on aggressive creatures?

I don't know if there have been any major changes to mask, works the same as far as I can see.
The trick to sneaking up on high level creatures for taming is to either walk shift+forward or to go prone.
If you run or ride a speeder they will almost always break mask if they are high enough level.
Hope that helps!
I have to think that something is not working quite right with mask scent. Or maybe the devs have changed it, and it is working right - butnot the way itdid pre-CU. Yes, I get detected sooner if I'm running or on speeder. However, even while wearing +15 mask scent shirt, I still consistently get detected far too quickly whether I'm walking, crawling or standing still.
The devs said skills like maskscent and terrain nav would be made noticeable in increments.
Terrain nav previously was a truely superfluous skill. Unless you always fought an opponent running uphill. You really didnt get squat for the mod. Most players seemed evened out with you at burstrun. So even then not too terribly effective. Now though there does seem to be more increment to it. I am noticeing the mod is more effective.
Maskscent. Is not as effective as it once was. Seeing as we have the mod for it in novice scout and the bonus comes in the survival line. I am tormented by this am I really willing to invest in the survival line that only holds camps and maskscent to see if it improves my sneaking. One things for certain atleast that line in scout is far more appealing then it used to be.
Im pretty sure that Mask Scent (and traps) are not scaling with character level like they should. So Mask Scent is breaking against things that used to be higher level than a Player, but are now much much lower level than we are.
Actually Ranger doesnt have anything additional to Mask Scent. Mask Scent is at +100 with Master Scout. The Ranger line continues with Terrain Negotiation and Camouflage. I'm not sure if Camo adds any help to Mask Scent or not. I am assuming you actually have to apply a camo kit to the respective planet you are on to get the plus to Camo.
I'll do some testing this weekend.
