Thread: Where Have All the Babies Gone?

1st of all, WOW! anyone else notice that there are almost 20,000 more posts in the CH forum than any other profession? ... Hey Devs I think we need a little more attention.

Anyway, the reason for this post is that I am tired of trying to find creatures that dont exist anymore! I Like many others purchased the Prima guide because it contained a very nice list of all the creatures in the game and wether or not they were tameable. Well, can anyone tell me why I should keep it? The CH class has been so nerfed that most the tameable creatures no longer spawn babies andmost the stats are no longer the same. I feel real bad for any sucker who buys a new one with his game.

So, Devs,it would be real kind of you to release an updated list asIam tired of spending days looking for all the creatures that no longer spawn babies. I feel cheated of the game I bought,I was so excited to be a CHandnowthatI am a Master I cannot get the creatures I was so excited to tame.

It would also be really nice and I feel appropriate to explain some of the reasoning behind all of the maddness, I don't or can't see the logic. Example: A Rancor is one of the most vicious creatures in the game (cl of 50). Why couldn't I tamea Bordok ancient (cl of 40)? Or better yet a Shimmering lantern bird (cl of 5)(Not that I can think of a reason I would other than they look kinda cool). I can only think of a few reasons one being the data storage it would take. But if you made all the other babies go away then isn't there now more room? Maybe, it takes too much to program whether babies spawn or not? Maybe you just dont want every creature tamable?

I feel along with many others you nerfed us way to fast and way to hard! Especially since we don't have mounts and can't even sell pets on the bazzar. We can make very little off of being a master(who wants to pay 20k for paralope?) and can't enjoy having the big scary monster we once could (or 3 of them, that was quite a site to see aMaster CH with 3 Rancors). I know I am not saying much you haven't heard but already but could you help us to understand while you figure out how to balance our profession?

We are talking to you giving you our opinions, giving you tons of input just as you have asked of us so that you can build a game that we will enjoy and you will be proud of. Can we get some more output? Some more info from you? We realize you can't answer all our posts but we would greatly appreciate if you could spare a little more time for us all.

Thank you for the forums to post on and for reading the post you do, we appreciate what you do and have the patience if you keep the promises.

For that matter, where have all the critters gone?

We have practically scoured Talus (Bloodfin) looking for babies to tame--Corellia as well (Ahazi)--and aside from missions, we are not coming up with many wild lairs at ALL. On Tat we are finding Krayts where they have no business being.

Truth to tell, Talus and Corellia have been almost bereft of critters since the new patch--wha' happened? Where are our babies we are supposed to find and get all these newfangled specials from???

Was on rori and could not find any wild lairs, they where missions liars and the static spawns around cities and POI's but no wild lairs, and I was walking with my pets. (Starsider)

I had a similar problem on Talus (Nartius) I was on my swoop first then riding a mount then walking trying to find anything and no wild spawns...

We have been on varactyls all morning "taking the slow road"--all we have seen so far is wildstuff with no lairs and mission lairs. Is the planet bugged?

Or are the devs teasing us, *cry?

Spawns have been bugged for a long time. It has to do with where players are, existing mobs not despawning, player bases, dungeons, server of choice, etc. Each planet has a limited spawn that is affected by all of those things.

I am having a little more luck in certain areas, but they still need to do some serious work on their spawn system.

WE found CRITTERS!

Unfortunately, they all seem to be in one place, lol.

At the bottom right-hand corner of the planet map on Talus, very close to Binyare Pirate Bunker POI, there seem to be quite a few wild lairs. I even got my Sludge Panther babe, although he didn't have any special abilities

The only baby with a special so far has been a (ugh) dung mite baby with a L1 Eye Gouge special. Oh well.

But at least we HAVE found wild spawns on Talus, even if the rest of the planet seems empty.

Ah, so the krayt thing is happening on other servers? I was helping my newbie friend do Jabba's themepark, and not 400m outside Jabba's door, was a constant Krayt spawn of 1 Canyon and 1 Juvenile Canyon, and two other spawns further back. We almost flew through it once on a mission, then decided to sit back and watch other newbs fly through it and get eaten... fun times. And here we thought it was only our server, and the CSR's had a twisted sense of humor.

But likewise, I'mannoyed that Talus has like no babies, since that's where I live (see sig). And it makes the planet feel... emptier.

Yeah, the spawn system pretty much sucks. On those dead planets, I'd suggest looking around any existing player cities or popular POIs, anywhere that there might have been a few people around. If that doesn't work, try going AFK and sitting out in the wilderness for about 10 minutes, then coming back. I find that if I do that, the server will notice that I'm there, and make some content for me, lol.

If you want to find lairsin Rori (bloodfin) get a few missions and once a mission brings you to an area with lots flat top mountains and crater like lakes you should find some since its hard for players to build out there.

It doesn't seem to matter which planet I'm on, but I'll often go for quite a while without seeing any wildlife. Then, all of a sudden, I'm surrounded by lairs. From then on, there are lairs in every direction. I don't know if it's the traveling that triggers it, or if I should just stay put for a while, until the critters show themselves. It can, sometimes, be as long as 20 minutes before I see anything.

I've had no problem finding babies to tame on Naboo, Yavin IV, Dantooine, or Dathomir.

I understand Endor has lots of babies around too.

Talus and Rori have always been a bit problematic, at least since about six months after launch. Before then they had babies everywhere, and adults too.
