This was not a flying mount as I hoped as I went to Barnes and Noble and found an updated encyclopedia of Star Wars and that it does not fly but moves very swifty over terrain. The description provided below of feathers and a large beak got me excited as this creature seemed to fit the profile more of flying creature then that of a lizard.

Am sorry for any confusion this may have caused and if they keep this creature to its movie design it will not be a flying mount. However I still plan to buy the expansion and look forward to using this new mount

Description of thismount

The veractyl of Utapau are reptile-avian hybrids used as mounts by the native Utai. Extremely fast and agile, the veractyl race across the planet's scrubland and along the rocky walls of the Utapaun sinkholes with ease.

Veractyl share both reptillan and avian traits, with scaled skin mottled by feathers and a long, bird-like tail. A large beak dominates the veractyl's face, with two beady eyes visible on either side of its elongated head. A frill of feathers rings the creature's neck. The veractyl stands on four powerful legs, tipped by strong claws used for climbing the sinkholes of Utapau.

The stocky Utai have become the keepers of the veractyl, having learned over time how to tame the beasts. Veractyl are prized for their speed, and are used as mounts to traverse the planet's terrain. Obi-Wan Kenobi used a veractyl named Boga as his mount during the search for General Grievous. Boga was able to pursue the droid general's wheel bike across the planet's surface and deep in the sinkhole wells. Sadly, Boga was caught in the crossfire after Emperor Palpatine transmitted the devastating Order 66 to his clone army.

Is this actually a flying animal? Based on that description and the information I've heard on this creature before, I was under the impression it's a land-bound avian (running on four powerful legs).

So they did have a secret little room full of 3D modellers hiding somewhere. Well for once they have given us hope. Let's hope it continues......

No you didn't read it wrong. I did make a post in favor of the devs.

Oh forgot to add, they are saying it is fast. Let's hope it can perform well enough to at least compete with a speeder other than the new noob speeder (which btw I have tested, a kaadu or spat can outrun one in a gallop)

so it will be a non-ch mount I guess, and will it need a ch to train it to a mount? or will this be yet another blow to our nonexistant economy

Ah bollocks, first cool new mount in ages and you have to pre-order the expansion to get it. Let me guess, it's only for people in the US who order the disk in stores or from one or two online retailers, who will not ship abroad or will only do so two or three weeks after the expansion goes live

EDIT: Hmm, seems even us Euros get the pre-order this time around. Nice one SOE.

Why in the hell is the game going back in time??? First it was the explosion of Jedi Population. Then announcement of 80 year old ships flown by separtist and jedi, ... now some Creature Obi Wan rode on - on a nonplayable planet untameable by CH's. Don't get me wrong, it's cool and all, but i just can't understand the logic of when & where we are at in this Timeline.

Whats next, Kit Fisto in Pink Hotpants dueling in Coronet?

I editedmy post above as this is not a flying mount after all.

Also this information is freely available at the official swg website and if u go to Barnes and Noble as I did they have an entire Star Wars section dedicated to the upcomming movie.

Hey no problem. I have just tried real hard to stay away from the mega spoilers...

I know the big things .. we all do cause of the later episodes.. but still didn't want to know

every detail. Like how theforce.net has split into spoiler and non spoiler forums..
