Here is the text of an instand message from developer Vass:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jedi have to make choices about which skill trees to progress in. They don't have enough skill points to get all of the trees, only a couple. If a Jedi gets the entire "animal control" line, then they will not have enough points to get all of the melee defense, or ranged defense, or force defense, or lightsaber, etc.

So *some* Jedi will have this ability, but not all. Honestly, I think that it will be a small percentage of them.

Vass

Not acceptable by me.

Your responses please.

So in other words....

"Your pets all suck SOOOOO bad...what jedi would ever want to actually control it? They can just use their LS and kill it in a few hits and move on. Heck, they may not even kill you since they know that having MCH makes you so gimped in other professions that attacking you would be like attacking an 80 year old woman with her own cane."

Wow...I feeeeellll the LOVE!

I don't really see your problem there. Jedi do have such abilities and as Vass stated, they give up other usefull skills to get it. And actually I don't think that Jedi fear pets enough to sacrifice more general and/or usefull skills to it beside a very few...

In the books and films there are lots of examples of jedi using such abilities on animals so I don't see a reason they should not be able to learn such skills here, too.

May the Force be with you all!

The problem here is that it is putting class control of another player in players hands. It negates us as a profession in the hands of the right player. That is too much power at any time. It makes no difference how few people can do it. Would you think it fair if a few creature handlers could walk up and take away a rifleman's rifle and start shooting them with it at the same level of skill as the rifelman?

Why are there no skills that take control of an opponent's gun/sword? Surely a martial arts master (TKM) could disarm a novice fencer with little effort, then stab him with the sword. But it wouldn't be fair to the novice fencer, because it leaves them unable to fight.

This applies equally to being able to take control of a CH's weapon, his pet. Why is it appropriate to take away a CH's weapon, but not a melee/ranged fighter? Heck, CH's are the only ones who can't even draw another pet until 15 sedonds after combat ends, while ranged/melee fighters can draw another almost immediately!

Ok if it isn't something they are going to use then why is it in? If they don't care about it and see no value then why suddenly all the jedi and jedi wanabes appearing here to tell us how useless it is and to ignore it?

In other words there is strong interest in it, its a dirty little secret that people missed when jedi were properly rare and hidden. Now that its open they are floundering on how to handle the uproar.

What disturbs me the most is the perception that if only a few people can do it, its okay against an entire class. No, it's not! We have every right to attempt to fight in the GCW against other classes without having that ability stripped by the first person with a particular box.

bha...

how many threads will we see pop up?

I think now everyone understands the "issue", everyone knows who is disapointed and who isn't... this is becoming boring

and noone will use this command because everyone wants to have an ubber roxxing character who can beat the hell out of a destroyer's ship

and it is easier to incapacitate a pet than using some force to make it attack ourselves...

bah, forget that, I am sorry for posting this (but it is too late )

I read the message as "The Force Power tree is so messed up no one in their right mind would master it, so you are probably safe".

Basically he is trying to assuage your fear of ever fighting one of this Jedi without taking a stance on whether you are right or wrong.
